3rd gen turbo boggin problem
Hay guys, I got a friend he just bought a 93' rx-7, he knows less to nothing about these cars...I had to instruct him in the way of the rx-7...anywayz...this is what he has:
4000 miles on a brand new street ported engine
single t66 turbo running 9 psi
griffin radiator + greddy intercooler
a/f pressure regulator
apexi commander
now the problem is, we were on I-95 the other night testing this car out (he only had it for about 2 days) and he slowly starts floors it in 2nd, just when we get on...it hits about 4500rpm and you can feel the big *** turbo spool and all of a sudden it boggs!!! just starts boggin!! he freaks out, I tell him to upshift and slowly hit the throttle...now he doesn't just shove the pedal to to the floor, but he slowly pushs it down, never reaching WOT...now I tihnk it's cuz he didn't floor it, in turn not letting enough fuel into the motor...I think the commander is setup to let enough fuel into the motor at WOT...I dunno cuz neither of us know how the commander is setup...ANY suggestions or thoughts would be GREAT!! Thanks in advanced.

Check the boost setting on the Commander. XS sent a "tuned" PFC to a friend of mine, & they didn't up the boost settings so we were hitting overboost fuel cut at just 13PSI.

The best thing to do is let a professional like KD rotary in nazareth Pa check it out. You can only **** **** up by dickin aorund with something you dont understand. if you blow the motor your likely to take out the turbo as well. You would be looking at 10 grand on parts and labor to replace it. I suggest paying 100 buck to have ot tuned by a pro on a dyno. www.kdrotary.com
