**NEW NHRA RULE** that effects all single turbo guys.
Section 1-A, located on page 24 of the 2006 NHRA Rulebook read as follows:
10.00 (*6.40 1/8 mile) and slower; all E.T. non-OEM supercharged, non-OEM turbocharged, or nitrous-equipped cars with an OEM or .024-inch steel firewall: Jacket meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/1 mandatory
What does this mean?
If you're running a non-stock turbo then a firejacket is required.

Depends on how you interpret it.
FD=OEM Turbocharged
They may be advocating extra safety for people who have added turbos & superchargers to cars that never came with them from the factory.

E.T and MPH is irrelevant. Even the guys with 14 second missles are required to wear firejackets.
I asked the local head NHRA tech lots of questions about this new rule last night and he said, "If you're running a upgraded or non-factory turbo "Then buy a firejacket!!".

I've got a brand new RCI-9656D jacket for sale. I bought it last december thinking of only running 10's. I now need to buy a multi layer firejacket (Needed for trapping 135MPH +) so I don't need this one anymore.
XXL, who wants it?

The latest rule being enforced as of late is that every import that runs 11.99 and quicker must have an engine diaper or pan. The same rule only applies too domestics if they are running 9.99 or quicker. Yes and for our local track rule of a 20 psi rad cap. I wonder if those idiots even know that most imports use the small rad cap design that you cannot just go down to your local parst store and locate a 20 psi cap for that application.

Out of curiousity if you blow a tire, spin , or bust out the groove ....in any car and it hits the wall or worse, rolls over cause you around 100 MPH what should you be wearing when the gas tank throws gas all over the car and the fire safari team takes minutes to get there?
What happens if you get knocked out? Dont think it cant happen. Why does eveyone skimp on health safety? Get the best safety equipment and stop worring about the minimum to get by with to save money. If the car starts burning why is only a jacket required? Flames get under it and all your legs , lower torso and feet are done.
I mean no harm or disrespect. Hopefully the disparity below will inform many newbies...
FYI
The term "SFI Rating" is a measurement of the length of time it takes for someone wearing a specific fabric to suffer a second degree burn when the fabric is exposed to a standard temperature. The SFI Rating is printed on a driver's suit. The SFI Rating is not only dependent on the number of fabric layers in the garment, but also on the LOI, continuous operating temperature and TPP of the fabric or fabrics from which a garment is manufactured. The standard SFI Ratings are as follows:
Time to Second
SFI Rating Degree Burn
3.2A/1 3 Seconds
3.2A/3 7 Seconds
3.2A/5 10 Seconds
3.2A/10 19 Seconds
3.2A/15 30 Seconds
3.2A/20 40 Seconds
A secondary test for flame retardance is the after-flame test, which measures the length of time it takes for a flame retardant fabric to self extinguish after a direct flame that envelopes the fabric is removed. The term "after-flame time" is the measurement of the time it takes for a fabric to self extinguish. According to SFI standards, a fabric must self extinguish in 2.0 seconds or less in order to pass and be certifiably "flame retardant".
