Pedal Height for Heel-Toe/Rev matching
My accelerator pedal is lower than my brake pedal in my Aus delivered '85, making rev matching difficult and impractical, was wondering how everyone else is finding their's and what they did to correct it.
The brakes on mine are quite firm and the acc. pedal quite low so i really have to "reach down" with the right side of my foot more than is practical to blip the throttle.

Thanks. That pretty much sorts me out. If it was only 45mm i wouldnt have a problem. I saw the stop screw, was too half arsed to put my face to the mat to see there was height adjustment.
Ive kinda sold myself on the spacer idea though.. could get the pedal even higher and maybe move it to the left a tad...bliptastic!

Ok so it seems mine doesnt have the stop screw for pedal height. I could put one in pretty easily, ive got at least 20mm of cable adjustment at the throttle body, but i might just make something up to mount the whole thing where i want it without modifying it.

Your brakes must be super firm for there to still be that much of a "gap" between the height of the brake and gas when you're on the brakes. Mine is usually about level with the gas pedal when I'm on the brakes - making it easy to blip the gas. Then again I have a size 13 shoe, so it's really more of a "big toe, little toe" maneuver with my big toe on the brake and little toe hitting the gas...

Yeah they are very firm and the accelerator pedal really low. I have limited movement in that foot too which doesnt help.
Raided the offcuts bin at local aluminium supplies last night, got some nice chunks of 32 and 18 mm plate. will have a play with it a when i have time. My aim is to have the acc pedal just a touch lower than the brake pedal when on the brakes.

Yeah that should work. The Fiesta ST has a similar problem and there are companies that make a spacer that moves the gas pedal out from the firewall, you can see it in this pic. You should be able to make something similar, assuming you have enough adjustment in the cable to do so

Ok so i picked up a couple bits of flat and for some reason the guy at the scales encouraged me to grab some 20mm offcuts of 50mm round. I grabbed them thinking they would come in handy for something i hadnt thought of yet - turned out to be a good call!
Instead of making something more elaborate out of the flat i just drilled two holes in one of those hockey puck size peices and used longer bolts. Already a great improvement, i end up shaving 4mm off one end so its a taper, drilled more holes, and now its almost infinite adjustability and the cable is back to about the middle of its adjustment. The holes in the pedal bracket are already oversize so a fair bit of adjustment there too.
Massive improvemet. Even just in throttle response which is a nice surprise, my theory being that because the pedal is so cheaply made and has so much lateral play, the more optimised angle its on now makes it a much more direct throw.
Forgive the crappy looking holes, i didnt mark them out geometricaly, just basically traced the first pair off the bracket itself and scribed the rest with the calipers, so they do actually fit perfectly even though they dont look good.
