Yeah, well right now I'm at nilcho.
Something major wrong is happening with the Nikki. I'm gonna have to pull it today to take a good poking at it.
For whatever reason when I give it a smigen of throttle fuel pushes out of the secondary air bleeds????
I'm looking at a 12A turbo Nikki now; I might go that route. But I wanna see what is wrong with this Nikki before I start buying more carbs.

I've never had fuel come out of my sec air bleeds. But it will pour from the boosters if you are flooding. How are your anti-siphon bleeds? You know the nickel plated 60s. Are they free of obstructions? How did you fill the long slows with solder? Did you fill the upper tube only and leave the lower holes clear?

Filled the top only on all of the jets I filled.
I know about the booster pouring if flooding. I went through a hole deal setting the float height last year (the floats got bent during my move).
I blew the **** out of the carb with compressed air. It doesn't appear to be doing the quazi flooding issue anymore, but its dark and I can't see it well. (if only I was in my new garage).
Well I don't know what caused the flood ish whatever issue, but it did prompt me to take a closer look at my wide band. AND with the bigger intercooler. I NEED more fuel. So larger fuel jets it is.

Dunno what was going on with the secondary air bleeds, but blowing the **** out of it seemed to fix the issue.
130 primary fuel jets has brought my AFRs down to 12.6:1 in boost. I'd like a little more fuel, but as I am in the middle of moving to a new house I don't have time to muck with it further.
Long story short bigger intercooler = MORE POWER & more fuel needed.

Got my re-surfaced flywheel from Atkins last night. UPS tracker predicted it would show up Tuesday, but it turned up on Monday.
I set out to use my jack and position the transmission under the car like a pro or something... After one good try with the jack I gave up and CAVEMANED that piece!!! These transmissions are so small its better to just pick them up and cram them on. When I put the last clutch in at the shop I just tossed the transmission on my shoulder and lowered the rack down on it.
New clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate. we should be good to GO!! Well in 500 break in miles I'll know for sure, but I can't see this engine possibly breaking loose this clutch.

Got a heat shield and ditched the turbo blanket.
And thanks to Jeff I got better AFRs at WOT.
Needed less air bleed apparently. So I drilled and taped my spare 170's. Then I threaded in a set of nickel plate 60's and bored them to 70. After I installed the air bleeds I couldn't put the top back on the carb.... so I cut the jets down a hair.
My secondary fuel jets are at 180, but all is well in the secondary world now, and I am very happy.

I painted and prepped them. Now they are all dry I can see a run in it, but I've never been one for good looking cars. I just wanted something that is not horrible.
I have been told that because I am going to be painting the car piece by piece that "the shades of paint won't match" and "its not gonna look good". BUT my standards are SOOOO incredibly low that I'll be happy
Now they have cured 100% I can see a run in each door, but hey I'm still learning and I think they look fine.
Its a two stage paint. Limco brand. Yeah, its not white glove, but I mean come on my car is NOWHERE near white glove material. lol
Now I just have to grab my spare hood tomorrow, and go to town on it.... AND I have to swap these freshly painted doors on. I couldn't be happier with how this car is looking.

True about painting pieces separately from same paint but different mix batches + different weather(humidity) conditions. If not working in an enclosed regulated paint booth waiting for a low humidity day (or time of year where i live, currently 72%relative) yields more consistent results.
If runs are in clear coat they can be sanded down/out. A particularly thick run can be shaved
down with a nib cutter, leaving very little sanding/buffing to get the rest of run out.

Toruki: isn't that rubber door protector a pain?!?!?
GSLSEforme: Yeah, I put a window unit in my garage to try to keep all those heat/humidity levels fine.
Well, here we go again, and I'm ready to prime.
And I put my rising sun hood on my car

Put my freshly painted hood on and slapped on my right door. Only to realize that the new door weather striping I put on a few years ago cannot be removed from the old door. So I guess I'm gonna have to park this thing till I get new weather striping. I hate parking it cause I soooooo love driving it.
And I kinda like the no doors look. Very Mad Max looking.
I did re-vinyl the tops of my door cards with some Chinese vinyl stuff. It came out ok.

I can't believe how much rust was hiding!!!
I always fancied this car as being rust free, but there it is as I pulled back the vinyl weather striping. Fortunately all I needed to do was grind it down and weld a few patch holes.

Here is a warning to anybody like me (a newbie painter): dry everything before painting. That means the plastic covering on the windows and all the masked off areas.
I dried everything before I put a coat of primer on, BUT I didn't dry the masked off areas. As a result I sprayed the water off the masked areas and wet the areas I was trying to paint.
