I'm betting he found a woman and now has better things to spend his time and money on.

Haha, good one! (And actually true, although I won't comment on wherever it's better or less important than the racecar ). Sadly no progress on the RX-7 though. Don't wory, it's not sold or anything, just don't have the time for it now. Maybe in a little while though, since my house is slowly getting there (By the way, I thought racecars ate up time and money, but oh boy, try buying an old house, it's far far worse).
On a side note, I did manage to do one day of car stuff a few weeks ago, just not on the 4-rotor. Anyone recognise the design though?

I totally understand your struggle; I'm on year 4 remodeling my 100 year old farm house. I miss your posts though. Very nice looking header.

I have been visiting this thread more than once a week, almost since it began, although this year I somewhat gave up on that because the lack of updates.
Just hope that John will continue on this amazing build someday...

In early 2013 when I knew little to nothing about rotaries I posted on this thread, here we are 4 years later and I just spent literally my entire day at work reading your entire thread. That being said now that I have much more rotary experience it still in no way compares to how much time, effort, and dedication you put into this stupid thing you love called Rotary, Brap, or Wankel... I have yet to finish my build and I consider myself an uncertified professional, then I look at what you have done and I am just speechless and in awe, I hope you find the encouragement to finish your build soon, I know I speak for lots of people when I say "We need to see this RUN!!"

That's awesome!
Yeah, I know I haven't been updating anything. But I finished my house and settled in a few months ago. Now I'm slowly doing some stuff here and there. This is a picture from last week:
It's the machining of a new front cover. I previously hacked a stock one up and welded in a plate, and I think that one would also work, but I'm kindoff getting into cnc machining now, so I thought a new front cover would be a nice piece to get the cad/cam and programming stuff down. Currently using fusion 360 on an older maho mill, but seems to work pretty good. The new front cover is kindoff like the old one, but it's much flatter, because the oil pump, OMP and distributor stuff is all gone. And it's got mounting points for a plate that will hold the alternator, oil pump, and belt tensioners. Should look something like this:
I was about halfway done with the first one, and then messed it up. But I was able to testfit it on the engine, so made some modifications, and got the billet material and cam ready for the next one, which will be awesome.
