Stock tank fuel pick up
I'm stuck using the stock fuel tank. So I've decided to use a Hydramat pick up/filter. To get better pick up in left hand turns.
(if you don't know what a hydramat is, check out you tube).
So I got a new tank that you can remove the pick up tubing and I notice the pick up sits at the front of the tank.
Does anyone know why?
I'm about to make a new 1/2" pick up tube and move it more to the rear. With the hydramat it should still pick up from that area and the rear of the tank too. I don't see it being an issue. But thought I'd ask.

If anyone needs a tank, before I crush the old one, you can have my old one. It's not perfect, some rust (was cleaned out and does not get any thing in the filter) and has a dent were the car slipped off the jack (by the diff).
But it doesn't leak and still fits in its right place.
free for local pick up (only). I will not ship it.

also the tube for the pick up is in the middle out the top of the tank. But I think mostly the engineers believe you should not be running low on fuel so placement is not as important.

OK<< I finished and static tested the fuel delivery system.
I tested the system before I Carter (50gph rated) pump/ fram HP1 pre-filter (5 microns) it pumped apporx 45gph.
After the 1/2" pick up tubing, hydramat (15 micron) Pre-filter) and new Carter (50gph rated) pump. it's pumped approx. 78 gph
And it picked up all 5gal that I put in the tank. Even jacked up the driver side of the car an inch. So it would push the fuel to one side of the tank. With the same results. All 5 gal picked up and pumped!
I can't wait to try it on track. Looks like I may have to go to Seven Stock for testing!

I like how you did the plumbing with hard line no worries about if the hose can stand up to being submersed in fuel, I had a failure on the feed hose inside the fuel cell even though it was proper submersible rated hose. I am sure that the hose failed when we had a problem with a blown out muffler and missing heat shield that got the fuel in the cell so hot that it boiled out of the vent tube and ended up setting the car on fire. For now I have -8 braided hose in the cell but I have considered going to hard line to eliminate any possible problems.
