FD ~375RWHP Turbo Advice

I have an FD that has been collecting dust for the better part of 7 years that I will finally be overhauling over the next few months. I've been doing a bit of reading but there are a few things I'm just not finding. I'd appreciate any advice you may have.

I'm shooting for a ~375rwhp "little bit of everything" car (autocross, track days, back roads, etc). I was hoping to spend about $2,500 to upgrade the factory twins (turbo, manifold, WG, BOV, plumbing, DP, etc). For what it is worth, I will be running a Pettit SMIC, custom intake, and full 3 inch exhaust with presilencer or high flow cat and most likely E85. I was thinking one of two turbos:

1. T04E 60 trim with a P trim turbine (older technology but affordable).

2. PT5862: A lot of people seem to have good things to say but I can't find a compressor map for it to look at flow. I believe it outperforms the 60 trim?

After a bit of reading I came across the BW EFR 7670. It looks to be a very sexy turbo with a little more flow than the T04E in the ~20psi range and I can get the BOV and WG integrated. Unfortunately, the kits I am seeing are a lot more than I was hoping to spend. THMotorsports lists what I believe would be the correct turbo with built in WG on a T4 0.92 for ~$1650 (see link)

BorgWarner 7670-C Complete Turbo UNIVERSAL

Has anyone pieced together a kit themselves that did not require significant fabrication to get an EFR 7670 installed? I can be a little flexible on budget but don't want to end up anywhere north of $3,000.

Any input on these turbos (where they're building full boost, etc) or what I'm missing would be greatly appreciated.

Lots of info in the single turbo section on the EFR turbos right now. They work extremely well on rotaries. You can put together a setup for about 3k yourself, maybe just north of that. It definitely would be worth the extra few hundred bucks over the other turbos you mentioned in your range.

The EFR7670 is my current pick for that (and even slightly higher) power level. To be frank, it is the turbo most people NEED but not the one most people choose. Most choose the EFR8374 but they won't ever make over 400wheel due to not having race gas in the vehicle 99% of the time. For me, I'd rather have the quicker spool of the 7670 with potential for 400whp when I dump some race gas in from time to time.

Either the HKS cast or T04Z tubular exhaust manifolds will fit the EFR 7670 in the FD.

The EFR turbos have a longer center bearing housing that moves the compressor housing forward, but they are not some kind of crazy shaped contraption.

This is the HKS T04Z turbo on HKS T04Z manifold in the FD- you can see there is room ahead of the turbo.

I used an HKS T04Z manifold for my EFR 7670 in my FC and the only major fabrication I did was to add dual wasteates instead of the single wastegate which is not necessary.

EFR 7670 $1,300 (yes, I spotted an Ebay deal and that is what started the project).
Used HKS T04S/T04R/T04Z stainless manifold $300
Wastegate (I used two for $700) you can use the Banzai HKS to Tial adapter and a single Tial MVR for $350.
Some fittings and hose for oil supply/drain $150.

$2,100 to $2,500 should be fairly achievable.

Here are more pics of HKS T04Z all from one build to ease your mind on fitment of EFR 7670 in FD.

I'm seeing $1762 on their site. Where did you see $1650?

EFR 7670 would be great for your goals with excellent response. I'm not a fan of cast manifolds. They retain a ton of heat, and the runners are not equal length or ideal diameter. Various vendors push them because they are relatively easy and cheap to manufacture. I have efr kits coming out in a couple weeks. I have a thread posted in the product development section. I guarantee they will outperform any current offering on the market.

Of if you want something more budget friendly, a gt61 (plain bearing 35r) with a smaller hot side would do and I can put it together for less than 3 grand. A ball gearing 35r will also do it.
