FC2000 Headlights

Hey guys,
Ken asked me to post up my headlight set up since it fit perfectly and I don't think that anyone has posted this yet for headlights...I'm running some PIAA 510 SMR series driving and fogs (not yet installed). The lights are good but extremely bright so its not recommended for those of you who would rather try to fly under the radar so to speak. The visibility is ok...I haven't had a problem yet and I live in an area where the trees don't allow for much light to come through. I had the lights wired to the stock headlight switches so everything works as it would stock. I set it up so the outer lights are my low beams and the high beam set up is all four. I used the driving lights on all 4 as the I figured the fogs wouldn't be as good if I really needed light. All four are mounted to a bracketing system that Frank at BOSO Garage set up for me. Ken can vouch for Frank as far as that goes. Other then that I'll try to get some pictures up as soon as I get a minute away from my current projects. Hope this will help some of you who are looking for something to stick in for your lights.

Those are the lights that I purchased for my front end as well. I need a bracket to mount them, though. That is where I got stuck. Can you please PM me some contact info and pricing information?

I would also like to know how you wired them up...

They Look Great!

Thanks for the comments guys.
Comitatus: pm'd ya

Dead-eye: The orange turn signal is the actual turn signal from RE for the bumper. I know a guy who might be able to get it for you from them but the time it takes to get anything from RE, let alone Japan is ridiculous but if you don't mind the wait or the cost I can pm you his info.

Ask Ramy and see if he can do that...even so its such a small part it can probably be EMS'd over fairly fast. Also I know RE likes to use porsche parts so I did a search a while back for these and found some turn signals off an old porsche that looked like the ones I have but I'm not sure if they'd fit or what the make of the porsche was.

I was thinking of using the HELLA 90mm lights. Comes in high and low beams. Any pics of the light spread?

I might go with a really bright LED setup for the amber turn signals. Post more pics if you have them.

How much does your setup cost?

I'll try to get some this weekend for you of the light pattern and such...I was actually about to do that setup with the Hellas but my mechanic had a set laying around so he test fitted it and after that I couldn't do it because the fitment was awesome...GL though with that set up...

I'll look into your setup too. See which is cheaper. Yours is DOT approved?

I paid about $200 for 1 pair of the PIAA 510 SMR's. They are not cheap!

Here are the lights, BTW: http://www.piaa.com/Lamps/Lamp-pages/510SMR.html

Light Pattern: http://www.piaa.com/WhatsNew/WhatsNew.html

As far as I know, they are NOT DOT approved.

when I had a turn signal in my hand it just looked like a LED thing you would get from a trucking supply joint

Phoenix7: If cost effective is what you're looking for then the hellas are definitely the way to go. As far as brightness goes, I can assure you that you won't be disappointed as they are super bright. I did a bit a research and found that these are SAE compliant but nothing about DOT which probably means they aren't DOT legal. Options Auto Salon sells the pair for $174 not including shipping so by no means are these the cheapest alternative but for fitment wise I haven't seen anything other then the IPF ones that originally come with the kit that fit as well. The hellas require either one of those angel eye rings to make it fit ok or just pop them in with a small gap around it. There is also the possibility of fiberglassing the hole smaller but it throws off the look a bit in my opinion. I'll take the pics this weekend of the light pattern again so just bare with me on that but I promise I won't disappoint.

the hellas I put in one of these bumpers from another vendor were DOT approved.

remember when you fabricate a bracket to make sure you can adjust the lights in the bracket.

Also Phoenix 7, this website is a member who did the rotary xtreme replica a while back and he made a website detailing a hella 90mm setup with LED turn signal so maybe this will help you out somehow...http://www.snyper.net/RX-7/

been to snyper's site many times!!! I used his pics as a guide for mine (not using the FC2K lower bumper but I am using the FC2K light buckets.) I have most of his pics in my photobucket for reference along with Higgi's and his local member's setups.

I would like the lights to be as bright as possible but I don't want to run into DOT issues if a cop decides to pull me over.

My front bumper is the Shine replica as are the side skirts, and rear diffusers. I really like the durability of Shine's parts vs. the Authentic bumper just because my car is not a trailer queen and I do on occasion have to drive it through the messed up streets of LA so for that reason I chose Shine's products.
