Hmmm, just saw this... I live about a half hour from Shine and have a mint stock sunroof on my FC now.

Let me know if you still need one Ken. I still have to show you how the front fenders came out.

The skeleton is complex. The tabs to insert the carpet covering will not be there. It will simply have to be glued or double-sided taped onto the skeleton.

We have to rework the skeleton to create a more simplified version to drive down cost.

I've got to be honest, If its not a factory replacement which keeps the original fixings then I wouldn't be interested. I don't think its worth compromising to save a few $$.

I actually tend to agree with you, problem is almost nobody else will, and people dont mind rigging it up instead of doing it right, and I will just ago along since this is a serious part need for these cars . ;/

i would prefer to spend a little extra cash to get it done right.
thats the whole point on got on board, because i figured if shine was doing it, it would get done 100% right.
can you tell us what the difference in price would be between the two?

I'm fine with double sided tape. I just care that it is flush and the seal sits right.

Well I guess we'll just have to compare the price and availability of finding an OEM sunroof in good condition, that might eventually rust like the old one, against this light weight fiberglass unit with shipping and a roll of 3M tape...

There really IS no comparison, the lack of availability of a real OEM unit IS why there is 50 people in line for this. I think Ken giving us a realistic price estimate for doing it both ways is the best scenario.

Myself I wouldnt mind mine being CF with Glass framework hows that for a nice option

let us know all the options Ken.

I care that it wont twist under harsh driving conditions. Say like drifting or grip runs

The skeleton is the most complex part about the project because it is too detailed and will drive up production cost big time. Labor = high cost.

We were thinking about flattening out the whole area so it barely resembles a skeleton. This would benefit those who dont mind not running a carpet covering. Instead, you will see a smooth FRP or CF piece from the inside of the car.

Since it is flat, you will also have the option of double-side taping or glueing the carpet covering as well.

Having the clips in place (we have no idea where to even get the clips), drilling holes, making sure the holes align perfectly (there are lik 8 clips) requires way too much attention to detail and little room for error for a part we're looking to target at the $200 price. Just being realistic.
