Thanks to Berny and all the volunteers!
The event -- as always -- went off without a hitch and I'd like to thank Berny and his crew of volunteers for the tremendous effort. I've done big events before myself, and it's always 10x more work than anybody would imagine. Pulling it off with volunteers must be even harder. It's a credit to both those who give their time and the force of personality that keeps them all working together and on the same page. Thanks, as well, to Mazda for allowing the continued use of their R&D facility. Bravo everyone.
Do you think you have the energy to wake up on Monday and start the groundwork for next year?!

I actually asked Berny at the end of the day on what was the likelihood of next years event. His response, "I don't even want to think of or see another rotary for a few months. It takes me that long to recover from this." All this was said with a big smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye that said "I'm going to the track next week!" It was pretty funny actually. -Jeromy

Thanks to Berny and all the So-Cal crew, additionally I would like to thank those at Mazda for their support as well, especially the honored guests from Japan. Knowing that there are events like this is what continues to fire my spirit with mazdas, it doesn't matter if they are Old Schools, Racecars, Rx7s, Rx8s or JDMs the simple fact that you all put on such a great show that increases rotary awareness and refires the passion of past rotary buffs.
To all of the vendors thanks for your participation and dedication as well... without you and your support many of our older Mazdas would no longer be running.
To all of the special Guests (Racers) and their crews that have given countless hours to preserve Mazdas racing heritage, thank you for coming. Sharing with us your racing memories may not seem a big deal however for many of us these are the things of our dreams and you have given me a step closer to realizing many of mine.
To all of my fellow participants thanks for sharing your cars with me in some ways I am overwhelmed by many of you. Although this is not my first Sevenstock, it is my first after coming back from Iraq I am seeing it with new eyes and a new meaning. I met many old schoolers that want me to keep in touch, I will do my absolute best to honor these promises.(If it seems I have forgotten you please do not hesitate to contact me)
Lastly as I look foreward to the future(and yes Berny to future Sevenstocks), let's continue to give our support for this event as it only makes us a stronger as a group.
Thanks for your time

When looking back at my post I find myself in error I thanked everyone for this event however I left out one very important person...... Dan from Rotarynews if not for your unending dedication with Berny this event would never have happened, To you I say thanks for your all of your efforts, esp making sure that I had my Banquet tickets even though I purchased them so late.

A wicked excellent time!
(so whatcha want - I'm from Boston)
I was going to post my own thread, but it makes more sense to add to this one.
Bernie, Dan - you guys rock big-time! What a effort you put in, but the results are
fantastic!
To all the So-Cal volunteers: Thank you, thank you, thank you!
To Ryan - Great to meet you (again?), and thanks for your thoughts regarding
things we might do together.
To Blake - sorry I missed you this year
To Sarge Dave - great to have met you, congrats on the Widefoot raffle win, and
even better for making it back State-side with everything still intact!
To Mazda and Kobi-san: Thanks for giving me a reason to spend more money
on a car than any sane man ever should. Or starting a company to make parts
for a ten-year out of manufacture car(!?!) I take back anything I said about my
being sane...
And last but not least, I second the thanks to all the vendors for all the cool stuff
they donated to the raffle. A big "THANKS!" to Falken for having donated the very
generous check for four 18" tires. I felt a little guilty for having won them (hey,
at least I didn't win my own stuff back!), but I wasn't about to offer them back!
Thanks,

Bern/Dan,
Thanks again guys for your unending support and countless hours of hard work that go into making Christmas in October possible for all of us rotorheads. This was my fifth consecutive Sevenstock and I feel it was the best one yet. The organization just gets better every year, and the volunteers are the BEST I've ever encountered. Hats off to LC and all of the SoCal club members for their hard work, dedication and friendship.
Hats off to Mazda and their leadership for continuing to reach out to enthusiasts on a grass roots level. I know of no other company in the automotive industry that has an event like Sevenstock where Execs mix with Enthusiasts in such an up close and candid format. Kudos to Calvin and Todd for continuing to champion the event from the Mazda side, and to Kobe-san... what can I say. My trip to Rotary Nirvanna just wouldn't be the same without a friendly handshake and conversation with my Gen 3 pappa! He truly embodies the term "rotary spirit."
Thanks to Michelle Paskowitz and her car wash crew at Mazda HQ. They made our prep for the Sevenstock event a snap as well as raising a lot of money for a very worthwhile cause. DROMO 1 was fun again as well as the Dyno Day and quick stop over at Racing Beat for some discounted parts. Thanks to everyone at Rotary Reliability and Racing as well as Racing Beat for their participation and support of the Sunday events.
Thanks again. Can't wait until SS-9.

Oh man... wait just one minute.
How could I forget you Steve. Not sure if all of you are aware of Steve Kan and his heroics this year, but let's just say that he solidified my loyalty for life by his actions. Following a Dyno mishap on Thursday, Steve pulled the motor and rebuilt the engine overnight to get one of our club member back on the road. That kind of dedication and passion is mythic in my book and I know I speak for Michael when I say that there is no way we can ever repay you for your support and hard work. Now get some sleep for crying out loud and show me some day how you rebuild the engine without removing the top half of the motor. That's a trick that I'd need to witness first hand to believe.

Thanks for coming to our little RX gathering!
On behalf of the SoCal RX Club Board of Directors (we're also called things like the thankless ones, core volunteers, the misguided and dumbasses ;-) I'd like to thank everybody who made the effort to come out.
We couldn't do it in style without Mazda's support, and there wouldn't be a SevenStock without the vendors to provide raffle items so that we can cover our out-of-pocket expenses or the people who haul their cars and equipment untold miles at their own expense to share rotary history with us. In addition, there's a core group of folks who are the unsung heros:
Yes, it's a ton of work for the whole gang, and everybody on the BoD contributes to one level or another:
- Jeff is a complete workhorse arranging for exciting stuff like port-a-potties and collecting plenty of supplies (scooters, EZ-ups, chairs, tables, etc.) and moving them from where they are to where they have to be.
- Gary orders banners, arranges for the DJ, oversees parking
- LC does a bunch of behind-the-scenes to coordinate the banquet (location, food, A/V, etc.) and support the day-of
- Ritchie organized the car show & helped with setup
- J-Ro organized radios, helped coordinate courtyard layout and collected raffle goodies
- James coordinated the vendor area to get everybody situated and ensure they had what support they needed
- Andy also worked the raffle, worked to do setup and even donated stuff for the raffle
- Mel provided general support throughout setup and the day-of
- Marcus is usually right in there, but was down for the count this year - get better fast, Marcus!
- Last but not least, Berny spends hundreds of hours starting months before the event in meetings, emails and teleconversations setting up the event. Setup day and the day-of, Berny oversees the whole operation to ensure that nothing slips through the cracks. Oh, and he LOVES the microphone!
And everybody brought supplies (power cords, tape, display boards, easels, signs, change for sales, etc., etc., etc.)
- We are also fortunate to have our SS volunteers - the people who are willing to give us a day of their time off (Friday) plus almost all of Saturday to put this even on each year. They run parking, t-shirt and raffle sales, general setup and tear-down.
We do it because of the friendships we have developed, our love and appreciation of the rotary engine, and the fact that there's NOTHING AS COOL AS SEVENSTOCK. Anywhere, anytime. Period.
Thanks for your continued support, and as long as California doesn't slip into the Pacific during the Big One, we'll do our best to bring you another SevenStock in 2006!
Mike.

Well said Mike! When to do we start planning this thing? Something on the order of 8 months prior. I have to say picking the date is the hardest. Getting all the Mazda properties in one place at one time.....phew. Second is just the logistics of the whole thing. For which the volunteers have done a fantastic job! Showing up at OHHHH Dark Thirty and getting things going. I could keep on going but I'll let Berny handle it. LOL....So long as a great time was had by all...I'm in it for next year.

Thanks again SoCal Rx7 club, another awesome event. Im glad I was able to pull everything together and make the drive out from Arizona. Even my girlfriend had a really great time (though she didn't wake up at 5:30am to get in line.)

Thanks to everyone that made this event happen!!! AWESOME event!!! I really didn't know what to expect for my first time there, it was cool. I will most likely attend again next year if there is a SS9. Hopefully I'll be able to remember the names of a few of the people I meet next time!!! Had a blast.
