Just curious. I know Zoom-Fest is coming in July in Atlanta. It's a 7 hour drive, so I'm wondering if it is really a good event or not. 3rd Generation and we obviously are most interested in seeing other 3rd gens and any parts sellers who might be there. SevenStock is way too far for us, so how good 3rd gen wise is Zoom-Fest?

I've tried to look at last year's photos, but you really can't tell much as far as the number of 3rd gens or the parts guys.

Any help would be appreciated.

 

didn't attend last yr but plan to go this time and yes it's a great event. there's a mix of all gens of rx7s and i'm sure like last yr they'll be parts vendors there. those that did go last yr will be chiming in shortly.

 

Well last year was the first EVER Zoom Fest and we had roughly 20 to 30 (only 3 to 5 of these we 3rd gens) attendees. This may seem small but the last event, Billy and Crit didn't have as much time as they wanted to to set up and plan Zoom Fest. This year is much more organized, planned out, and advertised. Also, Sevenstock 1 had less than half as many cars as ZF 1 so we're all hoping that this becomes REALLY big in the future. Hopefully, like Sevenstock, people in surrounding states will find it worthwhile to attend, and this will become one of the biggest Mazda events in the Southeast. I'm estimating that, we couldpossibly have double as many cars this year, but I could be wrong. I took most of the photos you've probably seen about last year's ZF and I can tell you I had a BLAST. There are many events and activities that make this worthwhile, video games, movies, hanging out, track time, autocrossing, a rotary rebuild AT the event, giveaways, swap meet (last year we had a guy come with a trailer full of engine goodies). If you need further incentive I plan on taking a LOT of pictures again this year, and I am reducing my print prices from $10 profit to "what-it-costs-me-to-print" (from $30 to $20 a print) for 11 by 14 inch posters of high quality.(Mods, this is not advertising, I make no money from this) I'll also give away any pictures I take in sizes to fit a 17 inch screen (1440 by 900 pixels) for free to anyone who wants them. so if you attend there is lots of free/cheap photography of your car in it for you.If you come out, you will have a BLAST.

I own the Mettalic silver FD. I am going again this year with all 3 gens of Rx7. PureMDMA( Jeremy) came last year and is going to make a showing again this year. Come on up and have a great weekend doing touring laps and/or PDX sessions. I am PDX'ng my FD pending new tires. But I will be doing it in a 7 of some sort You know you want to come up otherwise you wouldn't have posted this.

Yep, ill be out there again. This year doing the PDX also in the FD. Ill be out in the Rx2 on Saturday and the FD on sunday. I have lots to do to prep for this so wish me luck.

Oh and im pretty sure there will be 2 Cosmo's there this year as both Dan and Phil have said they were coming.

 

I think Phil already backed out. Something about a photo shoot in AL. But, hopefully at least one Cosmo there.
