When is the next ATL meet!!!

SirCygnus :: cf. my answer on Saturday night. Those two nights are always pre-booked for most people. Plus Thursdays are good nights to avoid crowds, etc.
I'm down with next thurs. I'd rather not drive to Gwinett tho, if we could keep it more north/east downtown area I'd be more inclined to go. Gwinett is such a haul and my car is a gas guzzler.

Daniel .. you need to look at your map .. You are in Brookhaven. When I leave work in Chamblee and drive to the Varsity it is 12miles for me. It is about the same drive for me to Pleasant Hill (exit 104 off of I-85 north) from Chamblee. Maybe your thinking Suwanee is Gwinnett, but Gwinnett Co. starts just north of I-285 before Jimmy Carter Blvd. (exit 99).
We used to meet up in Marietta every Thursday night, several years back. And for some of us, it was a 70 mile roundtrip.
Anyway, just trying to unconfuse you as to how far you are thinking Gwinnett is up I-85

But I'm lazy, too. For sure.

Yeah .. Jeffrey's Sports Bar is further up I-85. It is at exit 111, like 15 miles from the perimeter. But, Pleasant Hill (exit 104) and south is not that bad. Plus, it seems like the most people who regularly want to meet now are up I-85 in Gwinnett. Maybe we can meet at different sides of town regularly, on steady Thursday nights.
some suggestions:
Varsity - dowtown 1st Thursday of the month. (this is already a regular)
American Pie 2nd Thursday of the month
Sushi restaurant in Gwinnett (in the another thread) 3rd Thursday of the month
Maybe something toward Lithonia 4th Thursday of the month (so David Girod and then any southside peeps can meet up too)

How about a monthly mountain drive.
That way we can drive our cars as they were meant to be. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy meeting people and chatting about cars as much as the next guy. However, nothing replaces a spirted drive around twisty mountain roads.
I go up at least once or twice a month as is. I have never seen another rotary up there. Plenty of bikes, S2000s, Vettes, Vipers, and Lotus Elises can be found though.
My friend and I were up there yesterday and it was great. Got to play follow the leader with a GT40 and a Shelby Cobra replica up 129. The GT40 supposidly has 520whp and weighted 2800lbs w/driver and the Shelby had 400whp and weighted 2300lbs w/driver. Saw a really neat Blue Lotus Elise up there.
It is 60 miles from ATL and well worth the drive. I would be up for meeting at 10:00 AM one Sat or Sunday each month and driving up there.
I also go up there every so often on the Ducati. If anyone has a bike (and some sense) I would be up for taking the bikes up there some weekend too!

Yeah, Downing, as in Jim Downing. As in, 4 rotor Kudzu, and 6 or so time consecutive IMSA GT champion. And that's where they do the HANS device too.
855m0n0 and I hang out between brookhaven and midtown, and carson too, so I figure we've got a nice midtown group going on already. We should have our own get-togethers too, I think. We've got Apres Diem, Intermezzo, Ru Sans, Virginia Highlands Taco Mac, etc... and I hang out at all those places regularly already. I'm sure you've got your haunts all we gotta do is merge them.

Well damn, I'll be all up for a drive when I get my RX-2 together. The truck isn't an awful lot of fun. I'm in Smyrna and definitely want to jump in on the weekend drive once I'm mobile again.
