WARNING-Avoid Tullahoma,TN-Police Harassment

Hey Guys, just want to give you all a heads up to try to avoid driving through Tullahoma, TN. If you drive through, procede with care. I just was harassed by Tullahoma's City Police officers and was issued a wreckless driving citations for no cause. I drove pass the mall in Tullahoma and saw some of my friend's cars parked their so I clutched my car, revved it a few times so the turbo would spool and get their attention, let the revs fall, released the clutch and got back up to speed. After I passed the mall, I went got gas, used the restroom, got something to drink, and drove back to the mall 10 minutes later. When I got there, my friend I just met who drives an 80 RX-7 with a 4.3 Vortec swap was parked there and there was two cruisers sitting there. I figured that they were giving them the "keep it all in line" speech so I pulled up and stopped next to my buddies car. My friend said I should probably leave so I started to pull out and the officer ordered me to stop and demanded my license. I handed him my license and asked what I had done. He said I spun my tires. I asked my dad who was riding with me if it spun and he agreed with me that the tires didn't spin so I told the officer that the I didn't spin the tires. He insited that I did and that I should stop giving him an attitude and that my two options were to receive a citation or go to jail. After about 10 minutes of harassment and ordering my dad to get back in my car and wait. He instisted that the only reason I was getting a ticket and not a warning was because of my attitude and that if I had apoligized and said I didn't see him there, he would have let me off with a warning. Apparently, answering his questions with anything less than the lowly and submissve attitude is now considered an attitude. My question is, if I was driving wrecklessly, how come one of the officers didn't drop writing loitering violations(Big Public Threat You Know) and chase down the wreckless RX-7? How come I had to come back and park next to his cruiser before my wreckless nature became an issue. Thanks for letting me vent. Deal's Gap enthusiast, I feel you LEO induced pain.

I have had similar experiences with TN cops (brentwood), where they had NO evidence and seemed to do it just to keep themselves busy. It was actually quite similar where I drove up to some friends and cops told me to step away and give them my license. I got off tho, sorry man for your trouble.

Fight it in court. Plan to pay to file an appeal. Most of those small towns have kangaroo courts.

That stinks! I guess I need to quit doing burn outs in my White GSL-SE when I come thru there....... ha ha

Anyhow, I agree the cops there suck but where don't they? They just see a group of guys hanging out with sports cars and assume they mean trouble.

So your the one causing all the commotion Chad, I should have known. Anyway, I plan on figting this. My dad and I are going to see the police chief Monday. The main thing is, the officer did too many wierd things like, if I was driving wrecklessly, why did he let me go to give me a citation almost 20 minutes later. Also, the officer didn't ask for my registration or proof of insurance, just my license. I thought requiring all 3 was standard procedure for moving violations. Hopefully it will get thrown out.

That is such bullshit.... Fight it to the end!! I have an employee that was charged with DUI and he swears to me he had 2 beers that night over 2-3 hours. They gave him a field test and took him down town. They gave him the official breath test which did not register. They gave it to him again and same result, no workie! They still charged him with DUI. Problem is this is his second one so he has to fight it. He has learned his lesson and never drinks a drop if he is driving now. But what sucks is it is costing him over $3000 at this point. All for 2 beers over 2 hours. Guy weighs 195lbs!

My dad and I are going to fight it. We have scheduled to see the Police Chief Tuesday and a good friend of mine has already contacted the mayor. It should be dropped because I have had no accidents or tickets and I have enough people to vouch for me that hold positions of authority. If worse come to worse, I'll get in touch with an old friend of mine who's dad is the county sheriff.

Just an update. The chief was tied up with stuff today, but we have a metting for tomorrow afternoon. My dad also had got in contact with the mall manager and she was unaware of the fact that the police were harassing the youth and is going to look into it. She also happens to be the wife of one of my dad's co-workers. Hope for the best. I'll let ya guys know how it goes.

Yeah. Just went to see the police chief, captain of partol officers, and the seargent over officer Smith and guess what, typical police BS. Basically what we got is that they are not interested in the citation, thats for "Da Judge" to decide. All they wanted to know was what we knew and if we would be satisfied with a oral repremand. I can hear it know, "Officer Smith, Bad Cop, No Doughnut." Anyway, my dad said that he would like for officer Smith to be dismissed and never to work as a cop again. So know we know where Officer Kevin "Douchebag" Smith learned his manners.

Wow. Thats rough Skylance. Glad I don't live in Virginia. They are having alot of problems with the cops at deal's gap as well. I was surprised to find out the loitering tickets are a $168 fine for sitting in the mall parking lot. Its insanity I tell you.
