Vacation in Tallahassee!!
Hey, this is the first time I've wrote in the SE board. I'm vacationing in Tallahassee from Illinois and was wanting to see what all there is to do and see around here. I feel kind of lost, I'm just down here checkin out FSU and made a vacation out of it for the week. If anyone has any ideas, let me know. Thanks!

AJs is good on Tuesday nights, but I don't know how dead it is considering it's summer.
Wakulla Springs or going down Bear Paw are fun daytime activites if your free. Potbelly's is also a good bar Tues and Thurs. Happy Hour on Fri is the best.
For Restaurants I recommend Mori Sushi and Hibachi behind Tallahassee Mall. Buffalo Wild Wings is awesome. It's like a sports bar with awesome wings. Speaking of Tally Mall, you have the movies at Tallahassee Mall and Governor's Square.
If you have anymore Tallahassee/FSU question, just let me know.

There are several bars on Tennessee St., if that's what you're into. There are also a few night clubs. Chubby's is nice on Saturday nights, The Moon has country western "Stetson's" on Friday nights. If I want to drink on a Friday, I go to Bullwinkle's. It's $10 cover, then all you can drink. There's a DJ inside and a live band outside.
If you like outdoors, there's tons to do. There is Leon Sinks, a hiking trail that leads you to several sink holes. Lake Talquin is a short drive to the west. Like mentioned above, Wakulla Springs State Park is very nice (especially swimming there on a hot day, water temp is always something like 71*F), you can see lots of gators there on their boat cruise. You could also rent a canoe to go on the Wakulla River (outside of the state park).
If you like historic stuff, there's a museum downtown in the RA Gray building about Florida history. There's also the Tallahassee Museum of History and Natural Science, that has many animals and such to view in their natural habitat. There are also several historic land marks all over town. Downtown is the Mary Brogan Museum of Art and Science, and the Challenger Learning Center (with an IMAX theatre and, um, whatever that thing is called, the dome look-at-stars thing).
There's the Governor's Square Mall off of Apalachee Parkway, and the Tallahassee Mall on N. Monroe Street. Saturday mornings there is a market setup downtown on Park Avenue. Fun Station next to the Tallahassee Mall has the typical arcade/laser tag/mini golf/go-karts thing.
St. George Island is a very nice beach, about 2 hours away.
There are very many really great places to eat, just ask anyone who looks like they've lived here more than a few years.
If you want to attend the local weekly car meet, it's in a parking lots behind the McDonald's on West Tennessee St. just past Capital Circle (maybe a 10 or 15 minute drive from Momo's), they gather starting at 9 pm.
Oh, and between noon and 4, try not to do anything outside without tons of water and a large hat.
Any questions, feel free to shoot me an email at pkeeney@gmail.com. If you want to meet up with at least 2 rotorheads, at a food joint or something, just let me know and we'll throw something together.

My wife and i just moved down here on Wednesday! So I'm not on vacation anymore, haha. I brought my FD down too, so I'll be up for meeting up sometime. You said that there's a weekly meet but didn't say what day it was. I'll try to show up after I find out.

hey I think I saw a silver FD going north on Capital circle just north of East Tennessee last night around midnight. Just wondering if thats one of you guys. It's weird seeing other FDs around, I've only ever seen one other in person besides mine before I moved here.
