SC SC headcount

How many of you guys still exist? Are the monthly meets still going on? I dont see many on the streets anymore but I am looking into opening a shop that specializes in Mazda Sports Cars. So I need a head count to see if it will be worth it.

Chime in Reese I know you want to....

I figure everybody is either busy or moved on to another ride. We used to have like 30+ per meet.

I thought that was you! Hope youve been doing well. You put the pedal to the metal to catch up didnt you? I was on my way to my second job. But seeing how I have just started my own company that wont be much longer.

Tough crowd and I'm moving to Aiken.

But, (my opinion) if you want to open a shop, its an uphill struggle...you've got Kevin in TN whose been doing this forever and the return rate can kill you if you do something wrong. Not saying you will, but as you know its a fickle thing.

Also, attitude. I just read several postings about the shop in CAlifornia on Signal Hill. One misstep and its history. I just read some of that stuff that wasn't complimentary. For my part, when I got my rotary, over 10 years ago, I called them. They were real jerks to say the least, talked down to me and berated me for asking a simple question (this in 1999). I've never been back.

So 'trix lost a customer forever. Just some thoughts...You really put your good name out there as well as your good reputation. Keep it sterling!

Speed, I'm down in Chareston, and I'm doing rebuilds, porting, rebuilding and modifying harnesses , parts sales and installs by myself.. And it's hard . There aren't really alot of rotaries in the state and even less FD owners, and the few of us that do have them tend to work on them ourselves to some degree. But even with all that I decided to open up a " shop" last year. Granted it's just taking up both sides of my garage, and the entire pool table right now. but if things stay steady like they have been this year I should be able to set up a proper off site facility as soon as I finish up a few projects, and buy a dyno . Until then, I've got some good parts distribution deals already, and I'm working on a website, but most of my business comes from word of mouth. My recommendation is get in with the local speed shop as the "Rotary guy" or work from home like I do. Overhead will kill you in this business, and as long as you do good work at reasonable prices The people will come.

Rotary powah here, bro! I just got my IC pipe rewelded and it's sweet! Due to needing that done, I have an awesome shop available for any welding we need.

+1 for Chris and Seven Miatas! Good luck, and you know how to find me if you need an extra hand...

Columbia S.C. here. Building the rx7 as time/money permits. I'm obviously not able to drive it, but I'd be happy to participate in rotary events in the area.
