thanks....now I just need to replace the water pump, brake booster, master cylinder and brake lines, put the bucket seats and the gauges in, and she will be good to go.....man I love this car! Oh, one of my friends has a 2nd gen as well, but it keeps overheating. Actually, one of you guys might know what the problem is if I can explain it properly. The water pump and thermostat are brand new and I gave him my OEM rad. The fan clutch is slightly worn and the plastic piece underneath is missing. I burped the system and did the bubble test and everything seems to check out. The motor seems to have pretty good compression as well. I just can't figure it out. The symptoms suggest a blown coolant seal because after it runs for a few minutes it starts overheating and the overflow starts to fill up with bubbling fluid. Also, the fluid that is filling it and flowing through the rad. becomes sort of white. Right now it only has water in it, which I told him not to do, but that could be contributing to the problem or even be the problem. I do not think the rad. cap is OEM, but I doubt that in itself would cause the car to overheat so rapidly. What do you think?

I am sorry to say that it sounds like a water cooling seal. If you have change every thing ells and it still gets hot then their is no more searching. Try to do a water cooling pressure check. That will tell you if it is a cooling seal. Plus you will be able to fine other water leaks, dont go any higher then 30 psi on the system. Then let it sit for about a half an hour and see if the pressure dropt.

Whats scary is I have seriously considered it. The engine will fit fine, flywheel may be an issue, since all of the rotary flywheels are too large to fit in the bellhousing, but the 626 flywheel may bolt to the auto counterweight. An REW would make for easy engine mounts, theres a crossmember in a perfect spot. The real issue I had with it is the trans cant take the torque of a rotary very well, and even still, its wrong wheel drive.
