It was great to see everyone again, I was trying to post pics but photobucket didn't work Sunday. I'll post the pics tonight if I can upload them to photobucket tonight. I got the the Char Grill a little before 5:30 and Capn and a friend showed up in their caddy, and after that everyone else "drifted" in between 6:00 and 6:30. Christina and Scott were there but didn't bring the beautiful nacho cheese FC, Christina, we'll her rotary, is still having problems with the exhaust system staying on the car. Greg came in the 91 TII, Steve came in his black FC, Ray brought his white FC with the new wheels and sexy mufflers, at least that's what Christina thinks. She likes the sound they make, I told her I could make the same sound but I've had anyone tell me its sexy! Bobby came by in his ss 8, and the good news is that he has managed to avoid the 18 wheeler shed treads so far.
Dave brought a Toyota and Ryan came in his Civic and he brought his Dad along but I missed his 240. We also had Josh drive-in about an 7:30 in his bro's Cobra, he still had to make an entrace in that ratty old cobra? And we had a total of 3 3000 GTs drive thru during the night. We all were hoping to get a chance to inspect Brent's new ride but we left before he got there.
As Greg said we have some guys interested in going up for the Tail of the Dragon run in early April and want to get some arrangements made for lodging up there for Friday and Saturday nights, and Sunday night for whoever can stay over to come back on Monday. Also get a caravan leaving Raleigh on Friday morning for the 5-6 hours race to Fontana Village. So far I count Greg, Lee, Josh, Bobby, and me as definites for the Deals Gap run and we hope to build on it. I hear that the Tail of he Dragon is excellent driftin' practice, 318 curves in 11 miles.
Other things - Bobby mentioned getting together for a night of bowling the FC owners against all other rotary owners. Bobby also spent some time whinning about a squeak he was having, he thought it was coming from his steering wheel or steering column, Greg told him that he has so many squeaks that he just names them and I told him FC owners worry when a squeak goes away, that means something finally broke or fell off the car, needless to say we didn't show him alot of sympathy. Oh yeah, everyone had questions about the GRR shirts, Johny how are they coming, I know you've been busy with your rebuilds so just let me know if you need anything from me, money, sizes, graphics, whatever. Be great to have them for the Tail of the Dragon ride, we could generate more interest in the GRR if we could all wear the shirts up there.
And the highlight of the evening was the introduction of Greg's song, Ode to Driftin' or Guardrail dings and Concrete Caresses. We got him to agree to bring his guitar to the next drive-in and we'll have a sing along of our new song.
It was a great drive-in for the deepest part of winter, we'll actually start having longer daylight now so things will be improving each month from now on till some time in June.

Put me down as a maybe for tail of the dragon. It's simply too early for me to know how my school situation is going to be. Oh and 'sexy' is a new adjective for me as well. I usually get "obnoxious" and "so ******* loud," as well as references to waking the dead and such.

yea wearing the shirts up there would be cool. it will also be nice to network with some of the people throughout the SE.
It was great fun hanging out with everyone.
For the FD owners out there... We NEED some representation at the meets.

That is sad that no FDs were at the meet. Mine might be done in early feb. if everything goes right. All the parts I ordered to put in new engine and to fix speedo will be in at the end of the week, along with the new jdm engine I ordered from Ray Crowe. Should be able to get all that done by end of Jan. but turbo won't come till then so I will still have to put that in. Hopefully will be able to bring FD to first meet in Feb. I will keep my fingers crossed.

It will be nice to see your car. The way things are looking it looks like late February for me. Maybe the first meet in March before mine makes a debut.

Ray, can you do me a favor? I seem to have misplaced Rick's yahoo email address. Do you have it? Please, PM it to me if you get a chance.
If not, maybe you can answer a question for me. What Wideband O2 is Rick saying he is going to buy(if he hasn't already)?

Sorry I missed the show. Whats up with Tail of the dragon? Is it a race track or a curvy road we can show off our dRiFtihG skills? Put me down as a maybe My T2 Has to be ready by then, No way Im taking "Sippery Sue".
Josh: have you powdercoated anything yet? Im still buffing and grinding. and contemplating a Ceramic coating for my UIM, LIM.
I will check on the shirts this week, I promise.
Bert I still have your TPS spring and screw I cant believe your car runs so good without it.

Johny, I have to admit I have been slack. I haven't done anything with the powdercoating yet. I have been busy selling and buying things to finish my car. I am currently only missing the wideband. The FMIC,PFC(sent it to RX7store for a base map) and the fuel system are on their way. Hopefully, if all goes well I will try my first piece this weekend. Personally, I am tired of grinding and sanding aluminum.

Speaking of cars, how is your rebuild coming? Got any updated pics? Let us know how it goes.

Pictures from Saturday's Drive-In
I just posted the few pictures I was able to get of Saturday's Drive-In. They are on the January Raleigh Rotary Drive-In thread if anyone is interested.

Well I had a little parking lot mishap today.
I was backing up out of a spot next to State campus and I didn't see a frickin log, which was supposed to be a barrier or something. It bent my right tailpipe pretty bad. The muffler is stuck up against the back of the bumper and there is a big kink on the actual piping right past the Y-pipe. The hangers have popped off but since it's wedged against the bumper it's actually no longer making the rattling sound it had been making before at idle. I'm going to try and take it to Henry's Muffler on maybe Friday to get it repaired.
