Rob, does your car have a racing beat type 2 wing, and side skirts, lowered, a funky headlight cover, racing beat exhaust? may have bought it with a boost leak, due to a missing/broken intercooler hose? just wondering if it is the same FD I am thinking it is. Either way good luck with the project.

Bert, I will check as soon as the engine is back in. Does it work backwards? If my ratio is too high will it spit out $100 bills?

Yes that is the car you are thinking of. No longer has side skirts or funky headlight cover (stock headlights now). Boost problem when car was bought, not due to IC hose, that was replaced before I bought it. Won't be having boost problems soon though, decided to scrap using the twins. Along with my new engine I am putting in new fuel system and Aspec Tuning GT35R single so I should be good .
CMF should be pretty high, hehehe

Does the IRS pay interest on the taxes you overpay?

No Josh, Rotaries do not spit $100 bills or dimes. If you find your car doing this it is considered a malfunction that should be fixed immediately. If it is not fixed you will quickly realize a negative CMF ratio and the engine will self destruct at -.25 threshold.

The FD is like women, children, and politicians in this way, they always are willing to take money but never seem to give any back. Oh well what would life be without rotaries, women, and kids? You'd be a bored rich dude.

Sweet, there will be another single turbo FD in Raleigh. Now, we just need to wait for taylor to go ahead and jump on the band wagon.

I don't know if you read, but I should be running a Sound Performance SP74, and shooting for the 450RWHP range. Where are you headed HP-wise?

Glad that car is getting the attention it deserves/needs.

Going to have two boost settings most likely around 300 rwhp for normal driving and then in the 350-400 rwhp range for the max. Probably shoot for 375, don't really want to go really high with the boost at first.

Sounds good I am maxing it out at 17PSI. The guy I bought the stuff from was running a similar setup at about 16 and got 440+RWHP so I am hoping to break the 450 mark since it is a little bit bigger turbo. Like you I will probably have to settings one for about 350HP for daily driving and then the 450HP setting. I may also wind up going with a smaller A/R housing for a little quicker spool even if it hurts my HP#s. I need to decide on that before I go to get it tuned.

Again, good luck on the project. Keep us up to date.

If anybody is lookin for an fd, there is one forsale at a dealer here in cary. I went to look at it tonight, it is montego blue , looks like a 95 ( fog lights up front), paint could use a good wash, it has no gas cap, and an aftermarket exhaust of some kind. I saw it at night time.

1 more day to see all the beasts again! rob, your car sounded a lot like one that was for sale out this way a while back. it had exhaust BOV and a few other goodies and jerry supposedly put in a reman in that car. it also was having serious problems, ie- blown coolant seals at like 1.5K miles.

What's up guys

I went to Tenn. and picked up my motor tues/wed. It looks good except the UIM and LIM I had the same idea as Josh but after polishing on my A/C bracket I may have changed my mind. I'm still deciding about this weeks meet, but I will be at the 22nd meet. I stopped by the painters to see how my car was comming, hadn't started on it yet. I think I will be putting the non turbo hood on her, for the sleeper look.

How do you make the wiring harness look good? I know about the wire loom stuff.

Looks like we're gonna have to take Rob and Josh to a drag strip to see who's the man. As long as it isn't raining and there are some little girls there to squeal and swoon over a certain person's car it ought to be an interesting night.

Johny, looking forward to seeing your new creation, got any updated pics for the rest of us? Sounds like the painting is coming along as usual, hurry up and wait. Gonna have any flames or special effects done on it? I hear drifters really go for the outrageous paint schemes and neons and orange or neon green tires.

Oh yeah, got to have a lot of those stickers to cover up all the guardrail dings and concrete carresses. Hey that sounds like a good title for a Country song, "Guardrail dings and Concrete Caresses". Anyone want to jump in and write the first line?

I think we have a few people working on big projects this year. We have to coordinate and not show up the same time. That way we all get our alotted gawking time. I think Johny is going to hit FD-like CMF ratios before he is done. I can't wait to see his and Rob's cars.

Taylor, whats the deal with the flywheel and clutch?

I think my CMF was getting a bit too low, as my battery decided to die on me yesterday (thanks for the Wal-mart battery Steve haha). I got it tested and ended up having it replaced with a nice 3 year replacement guarantee Duralast, which cost me $80.

FCs don't have a CMF sensor, unless it was a mod added to the car during a rebuild or someone added it to your car while they were working on it! FCs just break because they are 15+ year old cars and like all of us age takes its toll on the bodies and its parts. Each human year equals to 4 car years, so just figure the actual age of your machine.

"Guardrail Dings and Concrete Caresses"

Guardrail dings and concrete caresses,
that's what my baby gets from me.
Everytime I hit the corners,
and carry too much speed.

You see, I've got three pedals,
but then only two feet.
And though I try to do the heel and toe,
I haven't mastered the technique.

I try and push the rear end out,
and power through the turns.
But I always slide too much,
and the rubber begins to burn.

And I give her guardrail dings and concrete caresses,
that's what my baby gets from me.
Everytime I hit the corners,
and carry too much speed.

You know I don't mean to hurt her,
when she gets away from me.
That's why I give her guardrail dings and concrete caresses,
for everyone to see.

Yeah guardrail dings and concrete caresses,
that's what my baby gets from me.

Ditto, Greg, we now have two poets amongst us. We've got a theme song now if someong can set you poem to music and we'll sing it before all drive-ins. I guess we can all recite it as a poem until we can get the music.

Thanks for the effort.

You're welcome. Nothing to it since I play guitar for a living and work in a music store.
Took about 5 mins to come up with this one, I thought it captured the drift idea rather
well, but for a theme song....it will take some beer and women to come up with that one!

Key of G, just use a 1/5/4 progreesion for the chorus and 4/5 progression for the verses.
So... G - D/f# - C and C - D, can pop a little turnaround on the end of the verse to get
back to the G or just tag it. When I wrote it last night I played it this way, liked it better
than the typical 1/4/5 progression.

YES WE MUST MEET TONIGHT! RAIN OR SHINE, DAYLIGHT OR DARKNESS, WARM OR COLD!
Besides I could use a burger and a shake and a fix on my rotory addiction to start the year off right.
