Well guys, Jeremy is selling his Eclipse, and for two reasons: mediocre build quality and a poor platform for performance.

He's been having lots of crappy nagging problems like noisy suspension, a sunroof that sticks, and a hatch that won't open. Remember though that this car has about 56k miles on it and is about five years old. It's not a late 80s FC where you'd expect that stuff. He still owes thousands for the car and he wants to sell it and make his money back so he can get a better performing car after saving up.

As far as performance goes, the 3rd gen eclipse is built off the Galant platform and it shows. It's sporty but it's not a sports car. Everyone here could have told him that but when he first got into cars he wasn't entirely sure how serious he was about performance, so the purchase made sense at the time. Now he's sick of driving a heavy, softly sprung FWD boat. Upgrading to really solid suspension will cost him well over $1000 and he'll still have the issues of understeer and weight distribuition.

The worst part is, he's spent LOTS of time and money on the best upgrades possible for that car and he's still disappointed. The headers and exhaust are nice but he's still having problems breaking into the 14s. He and I spent many hours on painting the interior but that doesn't make the car corner better or pull harder off the line. He got the car dyno tuned to 185 at the wheels, which is fine for most people but when you're really serious about something and you put money into it that kinda number is gonna let you down. It's a solid all-around daily driver for someone but it's proving to be too much of a burden for a true enthusiast.

On the bright side, he's now very seriously considering a Turbo II. We went over to Steve's last night and he test drove the red car Steve and Dave have had for sale and was impressed with how well it pulled stock. He likes the fact that if he put as much money into a high quality Turbo II as he's put into his Eclipse he'd be deep into the 13s at the very least and probably run 12s. Rotary fever may have hit Jeremy Roszko and let's hope his temperature keeps rising.

So who knows--next time you run into my buddy Jeremy you'll probably hear his blowoff valve long before you even see him.

We're all glad to hear about his awakening, there is hope for the boy yet! Thanks for the good news Ray. Keep us posted, since Ryan has pretty much stopped stalking banana girl and her FD problem with Millenium we have to have a new soap thread on "As the Rotor Turns" to keep everyone entertained and coming back for more. Are you willing to take up the challenge?

Well guys, It's T.O. ( the guy with the moded blue RX-8, that comes to the meetings). Anyway as of Monday I now own a 2nd gen Turbo II. I am out of town right now but when I get back on Friday, I will start to strip it down, because one of the rotors is warped. But besides the large amounts of smoke due to that problem the thing runs pretty damn good. That thing will tare some tires up! So in a few I may be comeing to the meeting in my Turbo II rather than the 8!

Good choice getting that turbo II. I'd rather have a Turbo II project car that's designed for boost rather than trying to go all out with an unproven supercharger or turbo kit for the 8.

Congrats man! What exactly do you mean by saying you have a warped rotor? If you speaking of the rotor in the engine, they dont warp, its got to be something else.

One of the rotors is gone (destroyed), something of that sort, that's what I meant. But I am going to pull the engine out and tear it down, on Friday (when I get back from my vacation) and find out what is exactly wrong with it and what needs to be replaced, but the car only cost me $500 so even if I need to drop in a whole new engine it want be that bad. It's my project car so I wanted a beater to build up on. It runs now and that's a good start.

Sweet! You can't lose with a $500 turboII. Have fun with the engine. When you pull the engine, disconnect the wiring harness from the ecu and pull it the firewall. It saves a ton of time if you do it this way. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

I just got the rims put on last night with new tires and they look hot. Of course today I did a nice launch, you know, just to test their traction

I've actually notices that on my car the best launches are from dropping the clutch past redline, in today's case 7500rpm. You make plenty of torque to get the car moving (less though than at the torque peak of 6000rpm, so actually a bit less wheelspin) and fall right into the powerband when it hooks up. A 2.0 60' time would be hot, if a bit ambitious.

Why we are on the subject of tuning, does anybody know any local people that would mess with a Microtech?

Happy b'day Dave, mine was on the 18th and I turned 18 also for the 2.7th time (or something like that). Speaking of rear dif mounts, I think the 'vert I got may have a bad one. Still haven't been able to get her up in the air so I can check to see if it's that or bad u-joints. I can put it in first, let out the clutch and clunk, let the car settle and go to reverse and it does the same thing. The orig owner said it vibrated bad at about 35mph but nothing about the clunk. I should have worked on it this afternoon but the weather was too nice so I went for a cruise in the Turbo.... what's a boy to do?

Dave,

Steve looked at my differential mount when it was on the lift the other day and it appeared to be ok after a perhaps cursory inspection. I did a search and it seems like it could be bad U-joints.

Honestly I've launched that car three times since I've owned it, and I just noticed that it launches better the higher you go in the rev range, and I figured the torque starts to fall off after 6000 so it's really not all that much stress to drop it way up there. That wheel hop is vicious though.

Oh and happy 18th. Have you bought cigarettes for minors yet? I think that was one of the first things I did after I turned 18--I had people hitting me up immediately.

Yep, that is the name of the place. The guys I was talking to seemed confident the shop could do it since he has over 20something years tuning all kinds of turbo cars. However, I still think I would feel safer going to Rotorsports, or someone with rotary specific experience, doing the tuning.

How much would it be to have Demetrius come down? I know Rick, Taylor, and I were thinking about having our cars tuned sometime soon.

Steve, project isn't moving at all. I have been out of town. Last thing I did was gasketmatch my UIM & LIM and getting ready to have them polished. I hope to have your crane to you this weekend; I am sorry it has taken me longer than I thought to get it back to you.

Yeah, i finally have some funds so I'll be more than happy to do that with you... and I bet demtrius is probably the best guy to tune for us that we can reasonably get here.

We got on the tuning subject because I think josh and i were talking about it and how i would let him borrow the dataloggit for the apexi.

The crazy think is, i think i have more TII parts then i do N/A stuff. I'm about to get this S5 n/a, so i will have some stuff laying around. Does anybody have anything they need? I like selling parts to local people because i hate having to package stuff up and it just makes it some much easyer, especially for the bigger stuff.
