Yeah we really had some nice cars in our younger days, that is why we have our rotaries today. Got any pictures of that camaro?

We ought to have an old home week, a retro drive-in, bring pictures of us and our first cars, play the music of the era, and maybe wear the clothes typical of the time, that is if we have any clothes from that era that still fit. I think the only thing I have is my high school letter jacket. We could post some pics of those cars on a thread.

On the GRR shirts, can your screen printer use the GRR logo that was colored for a light background and just change the colors to use on a black shirt? Or does he need a specific design colored for a black background? I did a red/white logo for a black shirt this week and we already have the black/red logo for a light gray background.

I'll just say that it's pretty damn rare, and let Steve speak for himself.

I talked to Steve today and his surprise has probably fallen through unfortunately. He's been busy with school and a few projects he's been doing for people. Hmm... now that I think about it, there's a chance I'll be at the meet on Saturday. Are we still having it at 6:30 when it's gonna be pitch dark and 50 degrees out?

There was a guy who had a '76 RX3 in Ramseur two weeks ago. It was all original with no drivetrain ,solid floors and trunk, pretty straight body, and good glass. He wanted $500, but I don't know enough about them yet to take on another project. I want to put one together eventually though.

Anybody coming to tonight's Drive-in that has a spare TPS adjusting screw that they could loan me until I can get one from Mazda or find one in a junk yard? It seems that mine has escaped the reservation. It is the adjustment screw and sping that connects the two sensor links, it's about an inch to 1.5 inches long and has a small spring around it and is the one you turn to adjust the sensor. Don't know when I lost it but couldn't find it in the engine bay, but the car ran fine yesterday. Let me know if some of y'all with spare 7s sitting around can loan me the screw until I can get a replacement.

Sup everybody! I've been away for awile now, but i'm back. Got all my exams taken care of and got the Gold TII boostin' under its own power again. Next in line is the white sport. Its getting a new motor and some cosmetic work and she will up for sale. No telling how long that when will take me. Sorry i missed the meet tonight, i ended up going and playing some b-ball with some of my boys that i played with in highschool. Needless to say, i can hardly walk now, i think i would have been better off coming to the meet.
The whole "suprise" was a 1977 cosmo with full roll cage and suspension set up for the track. It would have been a nice car, but it would have been a money pit. I think i will just stick with the trusty old 2nd gens. Heck, maybe one day i might even get around to building a car for myself!

Ah yes. Thanks again for the work on my car Steve

I'm sure you got a good laugh at me when I left today too hahahah. When I stalled out, my foot was resting on the thing next to the gas pedal and I wasn' tthinking.... Let off the clutch and noticed my foot wasn't moving.... oops. But hey. That was a nice test to see if the engine would flood I guess Then of course I was pissed at myself for the stupidity, heh.

Need a door handle. Hey guys, I posted this in the parts wanted sectionn but I got no hits. Since I am local and note a few of you shop in different salvage yards than I do, I was wondering if you all would keep your eyes out for a left(drivers side) outside door handle. I have to climb in the passengers side to open my door from the inside and .......well.... due to my advanced years, cant bend the way I used to. Bert can relate to that Huh? Thanks.

Whats up guys, You missed one hell of a time at VIR. Don't believe Bert if he says I was sliding or spinning out I was polishing up on my drifting skills. My brother even did a little excavating work with my car, so I have a piece of VIR all under my wheel well. I wish all of the "Road Racers" that were at the cook out would have came. Let's all go to mazda drivers in March.

Johny

Lee all my door handles are attached to my cars I should be parting them out but I just can't .

Lee, I'll be going up to Nine's Auto Retirement Center today to search for a headlight relay and will keep watch for any FCs laying around. I have a white door with handle attached but it it the passenger side door. Still looking to borrow a TPS adjustment screw and spring until I can find one or order one from Mazda, anyone have a spare FC sitting around not running that won't miss its TPS adjustment for a few weeks? Steve or Dave?
Right now my biggest problem is getting by headlights working again. I must have run it too hard on Friday and hurt something.

It ran beautifully and stayed on the track the entire time, my car knows its a road racer and not a cross country racer or one of those AWD go anywhere kinda car.

It seems that we are gonna have to take johny to a drifting contest and let him show us his talents. He is pretty good at making a car go sideways, and I hear it runs in the family.

Put Holiday Laps on your new 2005 calendars now, the second Friday in December is 12/09/2005, no excuses next year for being too busy, had to take a promotion, my car ain't running, got to work that Friday, blah, blah, blah. Set the day aside now, let it be known to all that that Friday is yours, decline any promotions that don't come at least 60 days before Holiday Laps, work on your car, get it in good runing shape and set it aside and wait for holiday laps.

There is a pace car but he won't be getting in your way. All I could worry about was the car in front of me, the car behind me and the car under me. Didn't have time to think about work, the wife, what I haven't done, what I need to do, or what was going on tomorrow. That is therapy of the purest kind and only $25 a session.

Sounds like a heck of a good time. Maybe next time i will have a car worthy of the track.

Bert, all the stuff that me and dave have are s4 stuff, and the tps are different between s4 and s5 so were not going to be any help to ya.

On the other hand, dave does have a driver side door handle if i'm not mistaken. What color does it need to be? I have no idea how much he would want for it either.

Hey Johny, whats going on with your motor for the TII? If i remember right, you were going to get Kevin Landers to build it. Do you have a build date yet?

Hey fellas. I was at the meet. It was pretty slow. A couple of RX8s and I think at one point I counted 4 FCs. I think the last of us, Brian, Joey, and I, dispursed at around 9:30pm.

Our meetings have been pretty sad this winter. Apparantely, cold and rotarians don't mix well. Realistically, I think too many of our owners are students and/or guys that work too damn hard.

I've got my engine out, on the stand, and have started the accessory swap over. So, Steve, I should be able to get your hoist back to you next weekend. Thanks a million for letting me borrow it. I may have to ask you to borrow it again, for a day, when it is time for the motor to be reinstalled in about a month(or so).

Johny, it is pretty amazing how easy the engine comes out. Here I was thinking it was going to be a big project. 4-5 hours laters I am looking at all sides of my 13B, including some that haven't been looked at in years.

If anyone local needs any twin parts, let me know, before I put the stuff on eBay. The turbos have very little play, I havent measured yet, but they seem very solid. Obviously I will have a plethora of knick-knacks, a set of very good engine mounts(~60K), efini y-pipe, high flow cat, intake, stock intercooler hose, DP, etc.

I can't wait to get this beast back on the road. I have a few things that need to be powdercoated & polished, need to make some urethane mounts, install the aluminum flywheel, among other countless small things, I want to check and recheck, before the motor goes back in.

Anyhow, just figured, I'd give everyone and update. Hope everything is going well.

Dave, hurry up and get that Ae86 running, I wanna see it in some drift action.

My lord Josh!!! I had no idea you were getting all of that stuff done? Selling turbos? I'm guess intercooler cuz of the stock pipes your getting rid of? and upgraded tranny? I guess this is the sorta stuff i miss by missing the meets. I'll be at the next few meetings cuz i just had my final exam this morning at 8 and school won't really pick up the pace it has till mid next semester prolly. Hopefully I can get updated a little more.

BTW- how hard is it to change out the clutch/flywheel assembly without rememoving the engine. I think i may be doing this over the break. See y'all soon.
