Just a little background...I recently purchased a 84 GSL-SE project car. I need lotsa first gen parts. We should talk sometime, although I probably won't be at too many meets until after Christmas since I have a store to run. And a transmission to buy/install sometime in there.

GuessI will have to get something going down here. it would be nice if there are as many dedicated 7 owners here as there are there. Oh and by the way I drove the 7 the whole way down here (637 miles in 8.75 hours) without a single problem, well other then a jetta that got me a little worked up. which remindes me, Steve I got a little vibration at about 127 mph, got any ideas on what it could be? haha. once again thanks to everyone for the GRR and maybe I'll have to bring some of the florida guys up for the next one!

I've heard that the wheel vibration problem smoothes right out once you hit 140. Its a harmonic vibration thing, at least it smoothes out on my 89 GTU at 138 mph.
Thanks for coming out it was great meeting you and seeing another beautiful rotary wonder.
Keep your rotors spinning,
Bert

Hey guys there is a post in this SE RX7 Forum concerning coming up with ideas for some "big rotary event" for the southeast. Please read my idea on the RED ROSE rally. If the idea is workable do y'all think we could get the local Mazda dealers, Capital Mazda for example, and plan a 100 mile rally leg around the triangle area?

I would insist upon a compression check on ANY motor I was buying to drop into a car especially if the motor is still in the car and it was going to cost that much money.

Work
Graduate school class (thankfully no final exam for this one)
Taking care of my garage...err...house...
Some minor repairs to do on the Miata (top replacement, rear brakes need a rebuild, slave cylinder, need to replace some suspension stuff before I get an alignment)
Fixing other people's FD's (there is a line out the garage door on occasions)
Unfortunately, lowest on the totem pole, is fixing my FD...it makes a nice trophy piece standing on jackstands in the garage...

Guys, who's interested in caravaning up to VIR together and driving the VIR road course for charity? We have 3 FC owners and a fiero driver going up. It is on a Friday, 12/10, but will be a unique opportunity to really drive a road course and not just pretend you're road racing when you pass that !&@#%<(* van or SUV, all the traffic is heading in the same direction.
Heck it will be a blast just caravaning up there together. (o:

GTU,
I race in SCCA Club Racing. And have raced at VIR. I finished 2nd place at the Goblins Go SCCA race. And VIR is a great track, very hard to get right, it is a drivers track. Two long straight aways, elevation changes, uphill esses, downhill esses. They have spent millions there getting it up to par, beautiful first class facility. Let me know if you want me to go up and show you guys the racing line in my FB.

Carl, your offer is accepted. I know there are several guys going up that would enjoy the education. I/ve been on the track once during a Mazda drivers event for the noon public laps. I think we got to drive 3 laps with a pace car and even this was thoroughly enjoyable to me. Johny and Lee have been to the training classes and have more experience than I do on track but we're all wanting to learn more. I also hope we can get some of the guys up there ho haven't been before to see the facility and get some track time in under their controlled conditions. If you can get that Friday off we'd love to have you drive up with us.

Bert,
Do you have any more info on this Friday? Cost, etc. Is it like a run at your own pace, no passing kind of thing? My FB isnt really up to par suspension wise. 224K miles on chassis. Yeah VIR is a blast even if your just doing track drivearounds in a pace car. Carl

Carl,
Cost is $25.00 per session, and you do run behind the pace car, no passing or fooling around, but you do get a good feel for the track. Sessions are abour 5 to 6 laps. I'm suppose to be there tomorrow and Sun. with G&W but my t2 is down.
There is no tech inspection but you should check your car out before spirited driving, Everyone should do this, especially if you think you want to run later on, you get to work on "your line" at slower speeds.
Johny

Doesnt sound much fun if your following a pace car at slow speeds. I can do this on race weekends at lunch for free. 5 bucks a lap huh? A race weekend entry fee is $175, I guess we do about 50 laps all weekend if your out there the two warmup sessions and qualifying and race. That works out to about 3.50 a lap.I did the GandW fall fling last year in my FP Sprite last year. I was in the full race group and it wasnt much fun getting blown by on the straights and slamming on the brakes to avoid hitting the big HP cars in the corners! If you have never driven VIR, go do it and have some fun. I guess when you have been pedal to the medal when you on track, it hurts to go slow! Yall have a good time. Carl
