how much will you let the exhaust go for? I hope to pick up that S5 tomorrow. If everything goes well it will need an exhaust.

The seller didn't know what kind of springs they were. I think they are tokico but I'm not sure either. I also got energy suspension bushings to install, I'm gearing up to run at VIR in Nov.
P.S. When you get old as me and Burt Its all jail bait!

U right Johny. I posted a few pictures from the VIR 250 last weekend on the VIR thread. Take a look at how the professionals treat their cars.

We need to have a fall get together along with some kind of driving event. Dave had mentioned coming out to Bahama and driving the roads. Thought that might be a thing we could do and have a pig pickin or a cookout, or we could have Bullocks Restaurant cater a BBQ lunch or dinner for everyone?

Anyone got any ideas or interested in doing this late this month or in early November?

I'd be all for that if it wasn't farther than Durham... most likely.

Just got a reply back from the VIR staff on holiday laps. They will be having the holiday laps event at VIR this year. It is scheduled for 12/10/04, this should be a Friday. Johny told me about it and I sent VIR an email to see if they had planned for this event this year.

From what little I know its a time when the track is opened to the public and for a donation to the Salvation Army, or whatever charity they have designated, you get so much time on the track., such as $25 for 5 laps or 20 minutes. As long as your car is capable it is a lot of fun to get on the track and run. Johny can tell us more about it.

For info on the Triangle Z Club see their web site: http://www.trianglezclub.com and/or contact Stacy King: stackz32@***.net

They sponsor track events with the Tarheel Sports Car Club - usually 3-4 events per year - VIR, RRR, CMP. These combine driving instruction for everyone with a time trial for those who qualify and wish to compete. See http://www.thscc.com/timetrial/index.html for info.

Next event is at CMP (between Camden and Kershaw, SC - about 3 hours south of Raleigh) Oct 23-24.

There is a Z car show up at Michael Jordon Nissan on Saturday the 16th and I wouldn't mind heading up there if anyone wants to go with me. I suppose we can talk about it at the drive in, when I will finally be driving my GTU again.

Hey, Bert, you weren't on I-95 in Virginia (or was it Maryland?) on Thursday were you? I didn't think there would be any reason for you to be, but I saw a black FC that looked exactly like yours..and you don't see too many black FCs in good condition. It was actually the only RX-7 I've seen at all since leaving home. I miss mine. Damn Ford Contour.

No, wasn't me on Thursday. Would've like to be out driving my FTTSOLB FC but I was in Raleigh yesterday. You didn't chase him/her down and invite them to the Drive-Ins?

no dammit. the bastard didnt wanna deal. the car was super clean. had a little problem starting, sunroof stuck, a/c needed recharging, and thought the tires were relatively new they had some dry rot.

interior was all original and the only thing worn were the carpet mats,
it had all original paint with couple of SMALL dings on the drivers side and NONE on the passengers.

he is asking 5500, which is way too high. i liked the car so much i offered him 4500 and he wouldnt take it (that offer is about 400 above high retail). If someone is looking for very clean all original 91 and is willing to pay that much its still there in monroe

honestly i know a TII is more impractical for a daily driver, but personally that is what I would prefer, and I couldnt see myself going that high for an NA, even as clean as it was. I am giving some serious thought to rebuilding the Fiero. That project was about 90% with all the small nickknacks that go into putting an older car back into shape. i might see if maybe sometime next week we can roll and see that red s5 out your way, Steve.

hope to see as many people as possible at the meet tonight. as for me, the rest of my day will be spent on the 7 trying to get it back up by tonight.

thats cool. i might be pushing the camry tonight instead of the FD. I had it all back up and running. I decided to replace the o-ring on the coolant filler cap neck, as i was tightening it down the damn thing snapped; the neck not the o-ring. The new o-ring was a little too thick and not the right one, I guess the "pressure" broke it. I need to find another one. I have to guess this is an dealer part unless I can get one used. DAMMIT!!!!! I am ordering the right oring from mazdatrix but of course they dont have the filler neck. oh well, whats one or two more weeks without my 7.

thanks steve, i will PM you and let you know how my week is shaping up.

Johny, give us a rundown on the Holiday Laps charity event the VIR holds each year. What do they require to qualify you for track laps?

Since I am working tonight and won't be able to be at the drive-in I wanted to let y'all know that I invited a guy with a titanium RX8 to the meet this week. His name is Stefan and he is a local Wake Forest owner.

Also someone please take a picture of Josh and Dave if they show up. Its been a long time and I just like to remember what they look like at the next meeting. I'd hate to embarrass myself and welcome them as noobies when they are old timers!

Thanks

Well Bert:
RULE 1. You MUST have a turbocharger
RULE 2. You MUST have an underage girl w/ you, I think its called the Josh rule.
RULE 3. You MUST have some up grades "Considering" this is called Steve rule.
RULE 4. You MUST have clean brake fluid and talk about how well you track your car. rule name witheld.

Not really: It is a lot of fun, pace car sets the pace, well worth it to get a feel for the track. You don't to be stupid or run wide open but you do get to go pretty fast. I think we got up to about 85 on the front stretch. No tech inspection either.

Ill tell you more when I see ya'll

Johny

Thanks, its something we need to talk about and get some guys up there to run the track. I'd even change my brake fluid to run VIR!

How'd the Drive-In go tonight guys. I really missed not being there.
