I could live with that. If I get the job in Raleigh, I'll need to pick up a new car to get me back and forth, and the difference between 24 mpg (RX8) and 30 mpg (Miata) doesn't affect the wallet all that much. I read a thread RX8club and a lot of guys were getting sub-15 mpg, and I couldn't handle that.
Of course, I also need to factor in buying one new(ish) car compared to just buying older used cars every few years. I'll end up driving over 30k miles per year, split between two cars. I'm leaning towards the 8, it's not the most fuel efficient, but it's fun and comfortable. The Miata is fun, and efficient, but a bit of a pain on long trips. I refuse to get an econobox.

he would be doing mostly highway though. so it probably more accurately reflects the type of driving he would be doing.

Hey I never said guns suck, haha. And I damn sure wouldn't say it to anyone in NC, or in those forums or threads, haha. I love guns actually, that's why I wanna shoot with you guys.
Hmmm, I was gonna use my strut bar for 'ah' camera rack, not 'ah' gun rack, haha. That's a good idea though. So you got a sawed off Mausberg back there? LOL
No word about tomorrow yet, that kid doesn't get ahold of me as much as I'd like about stuff like this, haha. He's kinda hard to get ahold of sometimes, but even harder to actually get him to come over and do the work. He's in a band so they're playing all the time I guess. I'll keep you posted though. I'm still at work, about to go home. I gotta be at Miyabi at 8 tonight, mmmmm Japanese. We got 22 people from work going, haha.

Don't expect any of that brand spank new. Out of the womb, I got 13mpg in mine. It wasn't until I broke it in good when the mileage went up (and noticeably gained a little more (read: +1-2mpg) when I replaced the stock air filter with a K&N forever filter)

I didn't even think about seeing if you wanted to come down, sorry. Although I think when I made reservations I didn't yet know you were coming down tomorrow. I wish you were going though, that would be cool as hell.

Well I think I may have found the answer for quite a few of you. It was... in the lounge.

****. Is that with a depleted uranium foot?!?!? You have got to be kidding me. By the way, rode in my boss' bugeye WRX. It's a nice smooth ride. I might actually just go with something like a '05 WRX or STI. I'm bad with this loyalty thing and these cars.

Meawhile... mileage. I get about 15 or so in the city on the Vert. But I have my foot in it alot. Highway about 25 since it has the long gear in the rear.. On the Turbo it's a little better in the city, guess the HP makes up for it. On the highway I've gotten 24 with no problem.
Sorry for some reason I thought I read Highway MPG in the question. Yes that is Highway use. With City driving I get between 15.5-18 mpg.

That's hilarious.
You're right, Gary. I was looking at highway MPG. I live right off of I40, and my potential place of work is right off of 40 in Raleigh, so the trip would be almost all highway. I would likely stick with the Miata for local city stuff. Convertibles are more fun around town, not so fun at 80 MPH.

Yea, I misread the question myself. Joey, I just assumed you wanted it as an all around daily driver. I mean I love the 8 but if I were worried about gas mileage, I would definately not buy an 8 IMHO.

Go SRT-4!!! SRT-4 for the win!!!
I had to taint the forum on that one I got around 22-25 mpg city driving getting into it all the time(lowest on record is about 18 mpg with 20psi dialed up and romping around), 27-30 highway...that was when I was running low boost(10psi) on my controller and a K&N filter. SRT-4 FTW
On 5psi for a long road trip I had several tanks where I got 33 mpg. SRT-4 FTW.
With only about $1000 in mods I had 267hp 346 lbs torque and STILL got better gas mileage than any stock rotary SRT-4 FTW
Oh yeah, on another note. SRT, FWD, 4 cyl, 4 door=cheaper insurance than a 2 door, rwd, sports car. SRT-4 FTW
Oh...and did I say SRT-4 FTW?!?!?! Okay, done filthing up the thread now But seriously, if you don't beat the hell out of the car, SRT-4's are great for a combination of comfort, gas mileage and power. The down side is being stuck to 93 octane till forever and the day after

go online and search davi's. They will let you shoot rifles, handguns or shotguns (if you are careful with the shotgun) and if you rent from them they tend to just charge you a lane fee and ammo. I havent been charged a gun rental fee once since I started going there. They have a AR15 and HK rifle (G something, cant remember the model number) for rent. A BUNCH of hand guns, from .22 to .50. And its not real expensive. If you go on a slow day they will let you shoot until your hand/shoulder cant take it anymore.
BTW, My credit fro a new phone comes up in September. So Im going to hold out for a little bit on the phone so I can upgrade.

Swapping the phone out won't affect your upgrade date Just leave it up to me. Call me so I can get you one ordered if you don't wanna wait.
We know about Davi's. Went there to buy my holster. Their range fee's sounded pricey though and they required anyone who wanted to use their range to pay a $25 fee to take their safety test on top of range fee's...I know the range test is a one time thing, but it still irritated me and left a nasty taste in my mouth. I'll look again, but they're range fee's seemed costly compared to the place Josh is holding out on me for, lol. I know I can go on my own and find it, but he and I are supposed to go shooting there sometime.

If you guys want to fire some real guns I could talk to some of the guys on Bragg or we can just go to their range on Chicken Foot road, where I believe they fire the M1A1 Abrams if I'm not mistaken. At least that's what it felt like at my old house, replacing windows and rebuilding the walls. Not to mention being able to hear EVERY weapon they fire like it's right down the street, and I thought I was miles away, hmmm. The guys in my shop that live in Raeford drive by that range on Chicken Foot rd every morning. And when Victor gets back I'm sure he could fire off a few missiles from his truck, haha. Field Artillery FTW!!!
