well i know ashraf knows his ****. but i have never suggested adjusting the timing, although it can be done, it is not easy without the SST. i didn't think it was as easy as on the FCs. UNLESS you have a pfc, then it is just a few button clicks.

i was suggesting a bad CAS. a false reading can have the car sparking at the wrong time. on faces that don't even have fuel/air in them. they are easy enough to change out, that it doesn't hurt to replace them. i have two working ones that i will give you FREE, cuz i love you(after phil's man photos i had to gay up the thread again)

it's either the CAS or the ECU at this point. any other sensors might make your car run shitty, but it would still run. we can't even get this bitch to crank.

Yeah I'm not messing with all that, trimming teeth or cutting them off. Nope.

That he does, he does know quite a bit. Actually the other day when I was putting everything back together I called him about something and he told me "I'm not here, I'm on vacation and I'm not giving tech support" haha. I was like alright smartass, haha. Anyway, yeah please bring those CAS. Are you going to be around for a while or is it pretty much a business only trip with a stop at my place? What is Range 1, a firing range you mean? Basically what I'm asking is are you coming down for business or leisure? Yeah, Fil tried to post up manly stuff, probably cause he knows he's one of "us" and he's trying to fight it, hahaha. He better watch out for Greg's surprise buttsecks move though.

I stopped by Godspeed on the way home and talked to my buddy Ang to see if they had an extra stock ECU laying around from the FD they were building, and he said he did and he'd call the guy to see if he wanted to sell it. He asked me how high I would pay, "$150?"....uh, HELL no, not when I can get it on the forums for about $50, you must be crazy. He said he didn't think the guy would go that low and I told him in that case don't worry about it. I don't know what he's gonna do with a stock ECU laying around collecting dust, but whatever. Eddie said he'd come over Saturday and we'll swap out his ECU and possibly DP if I can get my car running. With the ECU you just disconnect the battery, swap ECUs and reconnect the battery right? I think he said he has a Knightsport ECU with a base map, I don't remember though.

yes sir. don't forget to re-attach the grounds, but it should take you all of 15 minutes to swap ECUs

Range1 is a firing range, one of the few that will let you shoot rifles. Rob, Mike, Vince & Matt(from here at Red Hat), and me are going down to do some shooting. Gonna be a few AR-15s, an M14, SKS there for shooting fun. Anyhow, I am not sure when we are gonna be down there. You are more than welcome to come. Depending on when we do it, I might be able to A) sneak down early, or B) come afterwards, with the CAS.

Also,

terrible and terribly funny.

^Where are the grounds? It's been a while since I messed with my ECU, I don't remember if I saw some right there around it or if they were grounded somewhere else.

So....do I need to have a license to fire off a couple rounds? HAHA. I can bring my shooting card from M-16, I made expert in Japan and I can shoot while wearing my gas mask if need be, haha.

Sounds good to me Chris, haha. Well, not for two weeks though, haha. Congrats. I LOVE going out on the lake or ocean, tubing or just riding around.

Hey there folks, I'm a new RX owner who lives over in Knightdale, in darktritium's neck of the woods. I've been working to get my car in good working order so I can join everyone at some of the events I've seen everyone talking about.

I need to drain all the fluids because god knows how long its been since thats been done. Does anyone have a favorite speed shop here in the Raleigh area that carries Red Line or similar products?

Thanks, --matt

Falls Lake would probably make a great meet up location. Until then is this weekends meetup to install a tailer hitch to your FD?

By the way, I'm Phillip or Phil or Fil or whatever. Not having the FC running is fine. Hell, not even having a rotary-powered car is fine. Just ask our redheaded stepchild, Chris. (redneckvtek) Our current FD bitch is Eric, speedjunkie. The current **** of the three stooges is Josh. (LS1 + FD = I hate Josh.) I think I'm the third, and most retarded member of the three stooges because I thought a 350 they were talking about was a 350Z. (F U Lexus!)

do either one of you guys have a rifle, or can get a hold of one to borrow?

Rob and I would mind you guys shooting our rifles, but guns that will belong to us, are an AR-15(rob's baby), a SKS, and a Ruger .22(cheap as **** to shoot, haha). Just wanna make sure there is enough fun for everyone.

There might be someone in my shop that has a rifle or two. Most guys in my shop are into cars though, haha, not too many I know of into weapons. I'm not too sure they'd let me use one though, they know my suicidal tendencies from being at Pope too long, haha.

I've got a question for the RX-8 guys- what kind of highway mileage do you get? The official specs are 24 mpg, I was wondering how close that was to reality.

I've gotten as high as 24 on highway, but most of the times it's around 22-23.

hahahaha. i thought car guys and gun guys were one and the same. maybe that is just me. haha.

i almost went out and bought a long arm, so more of you guys could come out and shoot. i need to start a gun collection. hahaha.

oh and your suicidal tendencies have nothing to do with pope afb, it has everything to do with being an rx7 owner. hahah.

Yeah you're probably right, although it doesn't help being an RX-7 owner stationed at Pope, I was doomed from the beginning. Also, it's TRUCK guys and gun guys are one and the same, not car guys, haha. You can't fit 'ah' gun rack in 'ah' car most of the time, haha. (that's from Wayne's World for those of you wondering what the 'ah' was all about.)

I could live with that. If I get the job in Raleigh, I'll need to pick up a new car to get me back and forth, and the difference between 24 mpg (RX8) and 30 mpg (Miata) doesn't affect the wallet all that much. I read a thread RX8club and a lot of guys were getting sub-15 mpg, and I couldn't handle that.

Of course, I also need to factor in buying one new(ish) car compared to just buying older used cars every few years. I'll end up driving over 30k miles per year, split between two cars. I'm leaning towards the 8, it's not the most fuel efficient, but it's fun and comfortable. The Miata is fun, and efficient, but a bit of a pain on long trips. I refuse to get an econobox.

go say 'guns suck' in the lounge, and see how many rx7 guys are gun guys. hahahaah or better yet visit www.hpjunkies.com and say it in there. maybe it is just NC car guys that are into guns. hahaha some of those guys might hunt you down.

and you CAN fit a gun rack in an FD. what do you think i use the rear strut bar for. some use it for harnesses, i use it to hold my shotty. hahahaha.
