Is that a Virginia plate she is wearing? It'll be fun getting that car back into shape. With the mileage I assume it has had a rebuild on the engine? Where is the rear spoiler, did the base model 88s not come with a spoiler?
Let's see, its an 88 so that makes her sweet 16, a little old for Josh, he should maybe think about an 89 or 90 FC don't you think?

I'm assuming that it does have a rebuild, cus it runs extremly strong. It will be fun to nurse her back to healt, but as i said, its gonna be my daily driver, so i'm not planning to do anything outrages YET.
Yeah, i got the car from a guy on the forum. He met me half way, he lived in richmond. We had a little problem finding him. We agreed on an exit number to meet on 85. Well, instead of taking 85, he takes 95. So had to take 58 all the way across to 95, but we finally found him.
Then the alternator belt broke on the way home. Thankfully i had my tool set in the back, and i have two belts on my TII(dual alternator pulley). So me and Ken got to work and 20 minutes later, we had both of the cars back together and back on the road. It was an adventures night, but it was fun.
Bert, in 88, the spoiler was part of the aero package. So the TII and the GTU had spoilers. The basemodels and the GXL's didn't have spoilers, although the gxl is the luxary edition suposedly.

Thanks for the education, I didn't know they made 88's without wings. Now I do.
Hey Ray, don't worry, Dr. Steve and his emergency response crew makes house or highway calls. You are covered if you bought their extended road hazzard warranty. You did buy the warranty didn't you?

He's never had a claim filed on that policy, that I know about so you should be good to go on that. Just keep his cell phone number handy just incase.

Steve, I've got another question for you. What is the rev limit on my car? I know it's something like 7800rpm in stock form, but does the S-AFC change that? If I'm going WOT i usually shift between 7000 and 7500. With all the porting I feel like it could maybe pull longer than that--I've been told that the powerband falls off on a stock s4 after redline, but I've never driven a bone-stock FC actually.

well here is a story for you guys:
I decided to go to Baltimore this weekend. I have never taken the FD on a long trip so I figured what the hell, she has been running well with no problems. No problems on the way up, but on the way back the engine starts overheating and the damned buzzer keeps going off. So i pull over let it cool and check the level. Add a little, just but really just a few ounces. So I continue on and it goes off again, pull over same deal fill it but only a few drops to fill it to the brim. I take off and it gives me no overheating problems for the rest of the trip. The only problem i have is that my passengers side headlight cover, literally, flew off the car when I popped the lights up due to some rain. Damn thing flew up in the air 20-30feet landed face down on the highway and immediately got run over by a truck. That was irritating, but here is the kicker. 5-10miles from home I slow down for a light the buzzer goes off, so i start to pull over at a gas station and BAM! a geyser is coming out of one of the vents in my hood. I cut the car off immediately, jump out, pop the hood. My AST had blown the seem, it was in two pieces. So i am sitting there looking at it and get the bright idea to just rig the two lines together just to get me home. Well after i do that, fill it with water, and take off, 3-4 miles later, I hear another pop and steam starts coming out of the hood. i pull over and water is just pouring out the bottom. I wind up towing it home the last 3-4 miles after waiting 2 hours for a tow truck.
At any rate as it stands. I am looking at putting in a new aluminum radiator, aluminum AST(shoulda listened to the voice of experience and had this in before now), and a headlight cover. I thought about replacing all the hoses while I am down there. I think malloy's has a deal with all of them for $160, but they actually look in good shape. might not be worth the risk.
Poor poor FD. I will see you guys at the next meet, but I doubt the car will be back up and running by then. We all know how long it takes to get parts in.

Are you sure the rad and the tank are the culprits probably a good idea to change the t-stat too.

yea i am gonna redo the whole system. probably put in a lower temp thermoswitch while i am down there. i am not sure where the original problem began, but I am gonna replace/test everything. everyone poor some liquor out for the crappy OEM radiator though. POS has a huge crack in the top. Found it when I took everything apart today.
alls well that ends well, i suppose. like everyone mentioned at least i didnt blow the engine.

Have any of you guys done the TB mod (2nd gen cars)? I just did the TB mod + port + removed my BAC. Wow very cool. No more bouncing idle, little more power too, and much better throttle response. I know this is not a tech area..but I thought I would share.
