Perky- It's more about not having any power than having an unreliable car, HAHA.
Carl- Talk to Josh, I think he's got a pulsation damper. Good luck with that AND the ATV. It is a good idea to get a fire extinguisher too, although most people don't know they need to be inspected on a regular basis (like monthly) so even though you have one it may not work after a while. At least it's piece of mind I suppose, haha.
I kinda agree with Phil, I don't think "structure" is what we need. It seems that some people get bent out of shape over little things. The club isn't supposed to be like a job, it's supposed to be fun. If we start structuring things, making meets mandatory (especially for people that live further away like myself), charging fees (that would be a HORRIBLE idea since we're all broke anyway haha), etc., THAT'S a little over the top and will push people away, at least myself if no one else. I'm not gonna make the next meet either actually. I'm trying to fix this car ASAP so I can drive it home the end of May for my family "reunion".

Perky: It was me who was asking about staying in your room. I had planned on camping, but it looks like that isnt going to happen. So if you still have room I would really appreciate the space. i just need enough room for a sleeping bag.
Eric: No worries.
Johnny: Im real sorry to hear about you and the wife. I cant imagine how tough its been for you for the past couple months. I really do appreciate everything you did for us last year. The best day there was the first day when we all drove up and had dinner that night.
finally: I know its just about dead, but I looked over the entire thread and no where did I see anyone talk about drinking AND driving. Just drinking or driving. Drinking at night and driving during the day are two different worlds. I dont think anyone here is dumb enoguh to do that, but if someone tried it I think all hell would come down on his/her head for being so stupid and endangering others. Bert, dont bail. I have only met you a few times and you seem like a stand up individual. Everyone has to understand that this is the internet, and a lot of nuance that is foun din face to face conversation is lost in type. Sometimes what you meant to say doesnt come out the way you wanted it to.

Hey all, some of you know that I entered in a car show held at base this weekend. Well, first of all, it started out bad...a gust of wind caught my hood and it flew back and over extended the hinges and caused some damage to both fenders!!! Yeah, I know, that SUX! And then I got a look at some of the other cars in my class...not good! Since there was really no class for imports and it was mainly a classic car show, I had to enter in the ALL CARS class ('03-'07). Well there were about 6 C6 Vettes and a ZO6, also an Eclipse and an M3. So, I didn't expect to win. I went to lunch with Keri and got back to show when they started announcing the winners and guess what??? I took my class! I thought it was a mistake.

Eric, it's the turbos!!!! hahaha. Had fun yesterday. Let me know what the decision is and when we are going to get to work on it.
Johny, thanks for clearing that up. I am sorry that we did not seem appreciative. You did a lot for us. I am sorry to hear about your problems it seems like it has been one of those years for you.
Bert, I am sorry to see you go Bert. *replacing long paragraph with this* As I have ALWAYS said, if the group votes and decides then that's the way it will be. No ONE man's opinion carries more weight than anothers. Any issue being argued, should be brought before the group, whether on the forum, or at the meeting. ALL of us are, and should be, able to voice our opinions. Just because you don't agree with them, does not make them wrong. Thinking that your opinion is the only one that is right; THAT is adolescent.
As far as DGRR, along with the stigma of the event, and the fact that Eric won't be going there lies this; which some have already mentioned. I have realized that I would much rather spend the several hundred dollars that it takes to go to the Dragon, on an HPDE event. 1 or 2 days of unhindered racing, with an instructor, no deer, harleys, cops, tourists, etc. On top of which I get to see the long lost Johny.

OH, btw. I went to Southern States Mazda today to pick up new pads and rotors for the rx7.... Front and rears mind you.
I was quote $856.17 for 2 front pads, 2 rear pads, 2 front rotors, 2 rear rotors and 2 hubs (IIRC dotn have invoice in front of me) Obviously I am NOT paying nearly $900 for brakes. Seriously, Ill buy a new car before I pay $900 for brakes. Anyone know where I can get rotors and pads in the Raleigh area for a 91 NA with 5 lug wheels... before DGRR???

And now, I'm getting on here because you brought my name up in a topic. So, I'm back replying to "your" thread!

Hey Johny, let us know if you need anything! Keri and I will be up there at the end of the month for the VIR 400...I think a few others are planning on heading up too! I got an invite from the SpeedSource to visit the PIT!!!

If you came on to any MRCCAL threads and voiced your opinion on unrelated issues which does not pertain to you, then yes, I agree that you have the right to be upset/mad. But when you look at all of my post here, it all pertain to DGRR or Me actually coming to Raleigh (I was in Raleigh and had lunch with Bert last year).

BC,
You have space reserved. What day do you plan to come down?
You have a spot when you get there Friday.
We will worry with $$ concerns later, guys. I got ya covered since it's on my card already... we'll worry more with your percentage once we figure out who else is coming. Some of our friends from Florida were supposed to be coming, but I don't know if that's still in the plan. Wasn't going to count on them until they actually showed up.

Firstly, NEVER go to Southern States Mazda for parts... they are always more expensive than Capital Mazda in Cary. The guy in SS is really nice, but they always charge more than CM.
Secondly, go to Advance Auto for stuff first to see if they have things that the FSM doesn't require to be OEM. I got my rotors and pads from them last year... but I didn't need new hubs... what's wrong with your hubs??
New Rotors and Bendix pads were not very expensive from them, and it is quick shipping for what they don't have in stock already.

hokay so I have been thinking about this for the past couple of days maybe longer. I will be there on the 14th to discuss face to face, but just wanted to throw some things out there. i know we are not officially a club, but i agree with johny about acting more like one. not to say actual elected positions/paying dues (I think if we go this way, we are better off joining the MSCCNC, and pooling resources). i am speaking more towards the things that we do. i like all the members of our group, but it gets old sitting around the old chargrill just talking (like phil rodriguez mentioned). it is time to start planning more events. Bert actually had a pretty good line up for this summer, but I also think we need to start doing more locally. that is all, we can talk about it more at the meet. like somebody mentioned we are at a crossroads. it's time to make RRDI more interesting, and move forward to a better future.
Johny, thanks for the offer. I think I have finally run out of excuses for not going to these things (well, once I actually get the bushings in, haha). so you will see me there this year for sure.
Eric, I think your engine is just gunked up with all that oil. I was thinking about it, and there is no telling how much oil got into the idle air control, etc. Knowing this we need to try and test them, after pulling them for a good cleaning. The idle is off, but the engine runs smoothly above idle, mostly.

Hey guys, what do you think about having some shop days every once in a while to help each other learn new car info?? Some people (like me) learn better doing stuff hands on, rather than just read about it alone. Last year was awesome when Josh and Doug came over and I got to spend time with them when they helped me with the 5-lug swap and brake work. It was nice to bond with each other, while the two of them worked on things that I wasn't knowledgable or physically capable of doing myself.
I personally don't have much to do on my car that would require a group effort, but I know some of you may be doing turbo swaps in the future, or changing a clutch... things like that.
(Or we could dissect the SRT-4 and figure out what the heck a freakin 2.4L piston engine is... haha, j/k baby...)
What do u think?

Some things Phil has said on here have been taken way out of context. It's very easy to be offended by what someone says online.
Phil is just trying to do the right thing so people don't get left in the dark... much similar to Bert or Johny needing to clarify their feelings to us. Yes, Phil is not part of the RRDI-- but he is just as much of a Rotorhead as anyone in the RRDI (if not moreso), and deserves the respect that we expect from anyone else. This thread is not limited to only RRDI members! Would you treat my friend Rebecca (who came up with us to DGRR last year) any differently if she started posting in here, even though she moved to SC? Why be so close-minded that we have to negate any other people who may want to be sociable and respectful towards us??
We allowed Chris, who doesn't drive a rotary, be a part of the RRDI. I'm just confused where the standards and line is drawn.

Eric, I look forward to getting together with you to help you with any FD stuff you need to work on. I'd like to start doing some group stuff like shop days, etc... so the rest of us can learn things "hands on" rather than just read about it on the forum... or look at pretty pictures. hehe.
