ah, it was the primary rail with the factory 550s. i sold my 1600 secondaries and KG fuel rail to finance the LS1. Can't wait to see that REW with the GT35 on it. it should inspire Eric too, since I thnk that is the engine/turbo combo he is planning on running.

Johny, what's your plan on fuel set up?
Not sure if I've already told you this or not, you know I got GT35R....I am running 550cc on primary and 1600cc on secondary and very happy with it.

If you consider to have 850cc on primary, I got 2 brand new denso side feed I will sell at $140 a piece (Normal price is $160)

Andy Ill be running 4 1600's my current set up on the FC. so I won't have to change the tune on the microtech so much.

Yep. I still need to get a ride with Andy to see just how it is first though, cause lately I've been thinking about BNR Stage 3 sequential...I love that low RPM grunt, I'd just like a little more power with it.

Oh yeah, I got those pillowball bushings in yesterday Josh.

Well guys, I am relocating to Austin Texas at middle of February.
I'm plan to bring my 7 to 1/27 meeting to bid farewell to everyone.
by copy to Eric, this maybe the best opportunity to ride with me before you make your decision.

Johny, 4 1600's is too much for that turbo IMHO. You may experience rough idle during stop and go traffic plus I think engine will run too rich if you plan to set up your car similar to mine.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say you're moving there to be closer to Steve Kan, am I right? I would too honestly. Haha. So I suppose you're moving there for work? That sucks Andy. Well, I guess it's good for you, but it sucks for us haha. Yeah I'll be at that meet so I can get a ride, you did promise afterall! Lol. See ya then.

Sad news guys...

We did the compression test on the GTU Wednesday... and none of the "bounces" were above 60 psi!!! The front rotor was uneven, and got two under 50 or 60. The rear was pretty even with less than 60 PSI all the way around. I think it's the original engine with 145K on it.

So the GTU is a no-go, cuz I don't need another ticking time bomb. If she'd sell it as a parts car (which I don't see happening), I'd swap everything over that was useable, including the LSD.

So that brings me to my next point. David and I have decided to keep Queso, replace the transmission, differential (to an LSD), and suspension... replace the lower rad hose that's leaking... and do any other maintenance. We couldn't find any coolant evidence on the spark plugs, and there was no bubbling in the radiator. We're running a full compression test for the car, as well as test the compression on the coolant system. We're going to check and re-check again before putting any major repairs on the car, but it seems that we just have the one leak in the lower rad hose. There's nothing "unfixably" wrong with the car from what we can tell, at least with the engine. Everything I have to bitch about this car is FIXABLE.

Also, we're going to sand the CRAP out of the car and rattle can it flat black. (Josh, I liked your idea.) Anything is better than yellow flaky paint with red underneath!! I'd paint it poop brown, as long as it's ONE COLOR.

Anyway, I'm looking for both S4 fenders and probably a passenger door so I can put them on correctly. Someone did some poor body work IMO. For now, though, however, I'll probably sand all the pieces individually, and start spraying flat black on our first day off that's not snowing.

"Queso" will be at DGRR. With a facelift.

I think this taught me a lesson that even if a car is prettier, has some nice things to say, and rides nice... doesn't mean you can't stick to your commitments and help your first love. Well, I was TRYING to be sentimental and stuff with that one.

---Cliff Notes---

1. Not buying GTU. Compression is bad, probably original engine.
2. Keeping Queso and fixing her quirks.
3. Painting Queso flat black... PM me or call me if you want to help.
4. Queso isn't going to be ghetto anymore by the time DGRR comes around!!

Honestly, I think David and I have the same compression tester. One thing you might want to check is the compression WITH the check valve in. I JUST thought about it. Yes it will give you only the highest compression face, BUT it'll eliminate the doubt that there was something wrong with the test. David's held at around 180 when we did the test on his car so I know that compression tester is capable of that kind of pressure. At that low of a compression you MIGHT be having problems with hot starts and smoky startups. (Smoky as in more than a regular rotary startup.) Sorry that this info is late, but I JUST thought about it. How did the car pull when you floored it? How is the oil pressure? Do you get smoke when you hold a rev above 5,000 rpm? For the amount of work you would put in the yellow car, you might still want to shop around. I think I remember you mentioned that the yellow car may have been in a wreck; would you want to fix a car that could have frame damage?

Holy ****, 4 1600s? V8Kila is running 4 1600s, but the guy is pushing 685 hp. (Yes, I know everyone, I keep going back to that car, but have you seen it?!) For those of you that haven't seen it:

*sigh* I hate old cars. I want an NSX.

We did the compression test the same on queso's front rotor as we did on the GTU, and the GTU got like half the compression that the queso mobile did! We got about 105 PSI on the front rotor of Queso, cuz we wanted to make sure we were doing it right, and we'd rather hurt Queso's engine than someone else's car.

I think we'll spend less money restoring Queso than we would trying to buy another stupid rotary.

Oh... and I ran out of gas in the FB this morning before I could get out of my neighborhood. And I didn't blow an engine, Josh. I love non-turbos.

So I had to drive the ugly FC today, which made me realize there's so much less wrong with that car than I have room to complain about. She's squeaky and rickety since the bushings and suspension is so worn... and the paint is ugly. Especially with half the passenger door molding now ripped off, so a 12x2 inch strip of red shows on that side of the car.

I need a car BEFORE we go to frickin deal's gap. I might as well fix what I already have, rather than abandon ship. It'll probably stay flat black, for the simple fact that it will be a recreational driving and daily driving car.

Yeah I get the same reaction all the time.
Rolo Lopez did the tune a recommended these. I know its overkill but I don't have any idle problems.

I know one of the bands, they are good. anyhow if you wanna go let me know i can get you like $2 off the admission if you let me know beforehand. its 10 now, 12 at the door. the bands should vary from classic-style rock to hard rock kinda stuff. it is the final showdown, so all the bands should be good. anyhow, LMK. 919.270.6999 oh, it's at six.

cliffnotes:

-Battle of the Bands, Lincoln Theater, Saturday 20th at 6pm
-Music Style: Rock of all kinds
-Admission: Before(ie LMK @ 919.270.6999) $10, at the door $12

I'll let her know that I have a buddy interested.

The GTU only has 145K on it, and it's in great condition for it's age! I wish the stupid engine wasn't so questionable.

On another note, I spoke to Phil yesterday afternoon, and realized that I didn't mention something. Before we went and looked at the GTU on Wednesday, we made sure we knew what we were doing on the compression test, and tried the exact same method out on Queso's front rotor, just cuz we didn't want to hurt someone else's car.

We didn't want to use the little valve pin thingy, since it wouldn't "pulse," but we did do both cars exactly the same, so nothing was in question.

....................The front rotor on Queso was getting about 105 PSI all the way around!! (stayed halfway between 90PSI and 120PSI the whole time)
Of course, we're going to do front and rear rotor again before we drop any major $$ in the car... just in case only two apex seals were putting out ~105 and the other one could have a lower compression than I might have noticed. We're going to do a thorough check again, as well as do a pressure test for the coolant system, since she seems to be having such odd issues with it.

I was glad we did Queso first, so we had an idea what to look for... but who knew I'd be putting out that good of a level of compression on the crappier car??

I think Queso's biggest issues are just poor cosmetic defects and old, worn suspension.

If you had an issue with just one apex seal you would be getting higher compression in only one chamber. Two apex seal problems = no compression. Side seal is pulse-pulse-pause. Apex seal is pulse-pause-pause. I think I remember reading that the OEM thermostat isn't really THAT big of a deal. Of course, double check. Check your coolant mixture (as I will also) to make sure you have a good mix.
