Not much difference between wet performance on all season and summer tires. Take a look at some of Tirerack's test data. Many summer tires out perform all season in the wet. The trump of all season tires is that they at least some level of snow traction...some better than others.
You need to prioritize handling, tread life, comfort and price. You have to compromise on some of those aspects.
For my FD, I now run the Toyo T1-R. Though not quite as grippy (still good) I was pleased with the much cheaper Avon Tech M500. Both are very predictable with progressive breakaway. Both considered Ultra High Performance Summer and are great in the rain. I got several thousand miles, but that was with several track events too. Doubt they'll see 20K.
On our daily driven VW I have been pleased with the Avon Tech M550 A/S an Ultra High Performance All-Season. For my Volvo turbo I bought the ASX, but they have not been mounted. I got them because they were dirt cheap. Felt like I could not lose. I did not want something TOO grippy because the only pleasure driving the Volvo is getting the back end loose.

Wow, what a trip. I left Hattiesburge MS around 2:00pm EST today. and about 30 minutes out I hit the leading edge of the cold front that is heading our way. From that point and up until Greensboro, I was basically surfinf the red and yellow bands on the leading edge of that storm. Great googly moogly that was a lot of rain to have to drive through. Right around Charlotte, it was like driving through a 30 mile long brushless carwash.
Anyway 1650 miles of travelling in 2.5 days, I am beat, time to go to sleep. I did get 25.5 mpg on one of the fill ups thoguh...WOO HOOT!!!!!

Well then that makes 3 of us. Its been so long for me I'm not sure I can find the Char Grill now!! If I can't find it by Saturday I guess I can drive around north Rawley until I catch the aroma of rotary exhaust and then follow my nose.

Thanks for the advise. I jumped on tire rack and searched for stock size tires and finally settled on BfGoodrich Gforce Sports in 205/60R15. I couldnt believe all the good reviews it got. Especially since I paid just about $80 a tire for them. They are getting installed on Friday morning.

I'll be there... Rebecca and Jon are coming, too!
I have a new toy I'm bringing to the meet. Looking to buy an 88 GTU this week from my godfather. Need to get you guys to look at it with me on Saturday at the meet.
Gonna run the compression test and everything Saturday before the meet... hopefully everything works out... and I'll be buying it next week! Yay!
I'm selling Queso while she still runs. I won't be posting it on here for sale, except maybe for a few laughs.
I'll be listing it on autotrader and craigslist for serious buyers... and of course the ricers and mexicans.
Poor Queso requires much more restoration than I can really afford to do before Deal's Gap. Obviously that's a bigger priority. The GTU is gonna get the new suspension y'all bought me for my birthday.
Finally PerkyStina's gonna have a decent FC!

Note When purchasing new tires:
Immediately after having brand new tires installed on your car there is a very slick film on said tires. When you push those tires in a long 90* left hand sweeper at 7000 rpms your rear end WILL step out very quickly on you. Often resulting in you facing oncoming traffic before being able to recover. Fastest way to get facing forward again is to reverse your turn and stay on the gas. This will spin you right back around.
Thank you for your attention to this service bulletin.

ps this will result in a big thumbs up from any mustang driver currently watching you pirouette in the intersection while sitting at a red light.

thats what Im hoping. Anyone want to do the drive before the meet this weekend? Figure a good way to break them in is to push them a little bit.
I could probably leave around 2pm if anyone else wants to go. G/F has convinced me to do this Hot Yoga thing at 10 (90 minutes doing Yoga in a 100*+ room...) so I should be done by noon.
