I don't think anyone took the free entry at the autoocross. What a huge opportunity wasted!
Greg looked good out there against some impressive machinery. I think he is slipping ever deeper into the clutches of the track. I think he a had a second place in the turbo rotary/RX-8 class. There were 3 FDs, 2 FCs, one FB that was co-driven, an RX-8 and other Mazdas from a very fast P5 to a fleet of Miatas (including a few turbos). There were also a few Lotuses.
It was pretty fast course and some parts even made me a little nervous.
I had hoped to see a few more of us there. You would have made the event that much better. I think Greg and Andrew had a good time. Andy Lee showed up to watch. He volunteered at a flag station and caught a few rides on the course.
Fritz? Yeah he is no joke. He knows VIR and he knows FDs. That makes for a formidable combination. I'll feel lucky if get to be half the driver he is. He was my very first instructor and left quite an impression.

Both Ashraf and Matt was nice enough to give me total of 5 rides in their car.
I can tell you this, if you have a chance to ride in a Miata in a autocross or race event, it'll totally change your perceptive about the car!!! I can see why it's a choice for lot of people. It's fast, balanced, reliable and cheap to run. It definely is not a girly car as many might think.
Of course, you can't aruge with the RAW power and balance of RX7, it is just in the same playing field as Lotus and amount fastest in all class today. Although I didn't do much run, I did observe very carefully about car behavior under stress condition in high speed. Mazda really design and made their products for enthusiast. I have also learned a lot just by watching and riding in people's car.
People in the Raleigh group really should particple in the next event. Event if you don't plan to run, come on out, it's a lot of fun and a good bonding experience!!

I did have an excellent instructor today and it really helped my driving even though I have never driven like that before. Makes me want to get some HPDE instruction real bad also.
Im just going to put the streetported REW rotorsports built ( from Pinkey) engine into "Tiffany". Thus transforming her into.... "Tiffany the TERROR". I still got a few more things to get but Im real close to starting. Im hoping for 400RWHP.
Now for Fritz. Yeah the ride was awesome, he just drives what appears to be effortlessly , and as calmly as the girl did in "Tokyo Drift". The car would slide a little he correct and then just drive out of it.
Remember we were in a basicly stock FD ( I think it had a little suspension work power FC and a boost controller) and not one single car passed us. Now we were in the instructors group lots of track porsche audi and such, I know their ego's hated it but they waved us by " The 7 cant lose"
Thanks Andy Im so tempted to get a manifold for the FC and stick the turbo on the engine I have now.
Looks like the autocross was fun Greg. We need more drivers in the RRDI
See you at VIR at the holiday laps

Hey Johny, congrats. On both the time at VIR and the acquisition of the beloved GT35R. I still have to get a ride with Andy to see what my car will feel like in the future. I've never met Fritz but I have gotten a few parts from him.
What I did today? Changed the power steering pressure hose. Let me sum it up in one word....DON'T! Don't do it yourself. Take it to Mazda, take it to a mechanic, find a homeless guy and let HIM do it, but DO NOT do it yourself. You'll pull all your hair out. I did actually get the bottom part of the hose, which is the hardest part, out and back in. Then when I was in the rush to try to get it all put back together so I could drive it tomorrow, I dropped one of the copper crush washers. While I was looking for that I tried to connect a wire, and to do that I pulled the hose on the back of the power steering fluid reservior to the side, and that's when the nipple snapped off. So now I'm waiting for the reservior to get here so I can break it and wait for another one, haha. Wish me luck!

Well if my car would have been able to pass tech, and if I would have gotten the stuffing out of the seat in time, I would have been there. I won't miss it next time, that's for sure. (barring any unforseen problems of course, it is an FD afterall, HAHA)

Man I had trouble fitting in my car with a helmet. Sucked cause I had to change my seat position around and I know it affected my driving. Tried a few variations but no matter what I never could get comfortable or my head and legs/feet as I wanted, even with the sunroof open! I even looked at helmets at VIR yesterday to see if there were some that were slimmer!

Dammit, I can't believe I missed the autocross. I didn't come because I spent most of Saturday (and Sunday, for that matter) trying to aquire a Wii.
I failed. Five fickin' minutes late. Five times, at five different stores.
My cars arent' fixed yet, but I still would have had a blast.

I should have got some friends together and bought a bunch of those damn PS3's and sold them on eBay and made $600 a pop on each. I can understand the people waiting in line to get them and sell them, but I don't see how a person in their right mincould wait a day in a half out in the cold on the sidewalk at Wal-Mart waiting to buy an overpriced video game system. Keep in mind this is coming from someone who has the original Nintendo with Mario.
Okay rant over, back to homework!

Many of the Game Stop and EB stores should have some Wii on Friday. Most retailers will have some of the PS3s and Wiis just get there early. 360, wii and ps3 are all special in their own way. I played them all.

Phil...like I said, bring that nail bat right on man, haha.
Bobby...I'm lovin' the "mii" spelling, HAHAHAHA. I have a feeling that's gonna catch on as well as Boobie. lol
Carl...I was told those PS3s were going for $10k on Ebay. I think that's just plain 'tarded. I guess if you have the money, that's like chump change, but for a regular joe to still be paying off his game system like a freakin' car after several years of ownership, just so he can say he had it before so many other people, when someone that has their wits about them can get it for regular price or cheaper if he just waits. $10k for a game system='tarded. Just my opinion though.

Again, just playin', I wouldn't want you to lose your job or anything. I don't see myself getting any of those systems anytime soon, or maybe never. I'd rather spend my money on the car. My PS2 and Xbox are still suiting my needs just fine.

Why don't you take a picture of your FD and use that as your avatar. I think I'm going to take a pic of my POS, ahem, FC and use that.

Well, I think Boobie was referring to himself when he said mii, but I could be wrong. I thought about using one of my pics for the avatar, but until recently I didn't know how to do it (still not SURE I know how to upload it but I think I know how to downsize it now).
#7950
I knew he was doing it for that reason, but I still found it funny that Nintendo did that too. As far as your avatar and the sizing. Just take a picture and send it to me. I'll take care of the resizing and cropping if necessary.
