It would be nice if they cranked, but I don't need them to. All I need is a shell. I'm not even ready for it anyway, I don't even have the money handy to finish the FD yet. But rest assured, once I'm finished with this one, I'll quickly finish the FB and be looking for an FC shell.

Ha! You thought I was looking out for your best interest! I'm eyeballing those motors. I'm actually going by there today to pick up an undertray for my car. Greg pointed it out and said that should help cooling a bit. I'll be taking some pictures today too.

Haha, I might be looking for FB parts. What do you have in mind? Not too much on my car is messed up, but you never know. Let me know what you have, or I'll just stop by sometime and see what you have, maybe when I drop off the tranny, haha.

Thanks Phil, or should I call you *******?! LOL Maybe one of those engines that hasn't been running for 10 years has better compression than 85. HAHAHAHA. Sorry, I had to say it man.

I'm going to cry in the corner now... I managed to find an undertray thingie and a small black plastic triangle for the interior. I figured it was pointless to do a compression test on one of those engines anyway, so I didn't.

Eric, I have a few parts that you might want. One is a perfect glass moonroof for a 1st gen, if yours is the model that has a sunroof! I'll have to look around and see what else I have left.

I don't think mine has a sunroof actually. I'm getting a bunch of 1st gen parts from a guy for $100, one is a 13b engine, YIPPEE!! The guy used to be really into rotaries and I'm trying to get him back into it, but he's building old motorcycles and Buicks now. Oh well, can't save 'em all.

Yeah go cry in the corner Phil. lol

So, it looks like I'm getting an Apex'i intake, a new power steering pressure hose to fix my leak, I have some new spark plugs to put in, and I think I'm going to try to change my headlights to clear lenses and brighter lights for the night drive at the Gap this next time. I might go ahead and get a grounding set too.

That isnt Jerry Strickland is it? LOL!

If your talking about changing headlights all together, let me know. I need the stock assemblies for my car. I was promised some "Evo-r" or something clear lights with them but they have not showed up yet, I prefer stock look. My money will go into wheels!!!!!

Jerry Strickland? Uh, I don't think I know him, haha. The girl here on base that we get our hazmat from, it's her husband. I was always going in talking about rotaries and she said one day that he had a bunch of stuff in his garage that he wanted to get rid of. I have pics, I think I posted them several pages back. It was just a few pics of everything together, not individual pics. For the lights, I'm just changing the lenses for right now, not the whole thing. I'd love to get the sleek RE headlights with the intake hole on each side but they run about $1400 and I prefer to put my money into more functional parts at this point. And for wheels, I really like my Enkei RPF1s. The rear isn't as deep as I would like, but they are super light and I think they still look pretty good, and you can't beat the price for such a wheel. I got mine from Rishie for about $1250 w/o tires, might want to talk to him. Be forewarned though, I waited about 8 months for them, haha.

Rotary Drive Scheduled

How about we schedule a back country drive before the next Drive-In. That should be Saturday Dec. 9th. We'll meet at the Char Grill at 2:30 and take off for the 30 mile drive we took north of Wake County. I have too much to do this Saturday and haven't been able to get out there and drive it in daylight any this week. With the move back to Standard Time its almost dark by the time I get home from work.

If we do it before the next DI we might get more people to come out for it. We'll spend a couple of hours enjoying some tight curves lonely back roads that afternoon. Just hope we don't misplace anyone this time.

Don't forget Holiday Laps up at VIR on Friday, 12/8. $25 donations to the Salvation Army will get you a 30 minutes of track time. If you can avoid the mustangs it'll be a great test of men and machine. I have a guy from work who just got his wife's MR2 back in road worthy condition and he will be joining us. It is a beautiful, well kept 2nd gen model. We'll do breakfast at CB and caravan up to VIR and get in line for the gate opening at Noon. If you enjoy driving you don't want to miss this. Last year we all drove back to Raleigh and ate dinner together.

The drive sounds greats. I just noticed you mention something about a 13B engine Eric. Do a compression test! If it's higher than mine I have a nailbat with your name on it...

Phil, bring it on beyotch. Haha. I'm just playin, that engine has been sitting there for years, soooo.......you have a 50/50 chance. lol

Josh, I just bought one today, haha. But if this one leaks too, I'll get with you, lol. I wish I had thought to check with you first, dammit.

Oh, I put in some Sylvania Silverstar bulbs too, they look pretty good compared to the old ones.

Ugh, I'm going to get my battery checked today and if the battery is in great condition, a compression test from Mazda. I was getting ~85 PSI on the front rotor and ~83 PSI on the rear rotor about a week ago. Well, yesterday I did another compression test an had a horrible 75 PSI on front and rear rotors. If the test from Mazda is roughly the same, then there is no point in buying injectors and my project comes to a screeching halt. I will add that it seemed like the compression went down each time I did the test, which makes me feel semi-good. It probably means my battery is dying. (Don't even say what else it could be...we'll find out tomorrow.)
