Cool, thanks Nic. I keep forgetting to check on a room. And it might be kinda hard to pay for right now cause I'm about $600 short, because MY WHEELS ARE COMING!! WOOHOO!!! I talked to Rishie, he said he got them last week but one was damaged so he got a replacement. Now I just gotta get tires. Wow this is really draining the account, haha. They will most likely NOT be on for the Gap, but oh well.

I was the dork in the straw hat. I kept thinking I'd get a minute to introduce myself, but the timing never came. I had to bring my wife's VW because my FD's main ground shorted that morning. Maybe we'll get properly introduced at either the next MSCCNC meet (working on a new term for that...sounds so ...dull) or RRDI Saturday.
Got the short fixed. Need to investigate an oil leak from what I hope is the oil lines at the turbos.
I hear you have some wheels coming.

Alright, I have my RX-7 back on the road! I took it over to the local tire place and had them put on the new rubber and do an alignment for me. The tires are Falken Ziex ZE512's-not the Azenis I wanted, but they will do, and they are certainly much better than the crap that was on it. I also like how the wider tire looks on the rim, it's got a lot more meat to it now. The previous owner had slightly smaller than stock tires on it, since the 195 size is easier to find.
I haven't had a chance to really test it out yet, but the "wondersteer" is gone and the steering wheel is much easier to turn. There was too much traffic to really try anything, but I think I shot a fireball, heh heh.
I kept looking at my sunroof and wishing I had a glass one though

^CONGRATS JOEY!!
I don't remember anyone in a straw hat, I'll have to look back at the pics. I was in the desert floppy hat. Yes I definitely have some wheels coming...finally. WOOHOO!!! I might not be to another meet for a little while. I think I'm gonna try to do my brakes this weekend if possible, that way I won't miss any meets. But knowing my luck it will turn into a huge project that I'll need more parts for.

On a side note, I drove my FC to work today for the first time in about a week and a half... she really feels FAST compared to our new addition to the family. (the FB)
...but she'll never be as fast as the SRT-4.
However, I did see some major differences in handling. LOL My FC still handles like a minivan, but as David says, "the SRT-4 handles like a BUS!"
I have every intention of racing the FC vs. the FB in the next couple of months...

^I had an SRT-4....er, NEON sound his BOV on me in the FD the other day, hahahaha. I just had to laugh. On another note, I heard an SRT-8 Charger on Tuesday and about creamed my pants, haha. Those things sound better than the Mustangs, from what I could tell, and I REALLY love the sound of a Mustang (editor's note: not the V-6).

Yeah I figured out who you were by the car. I'm a little surprised you fit in an FD with a sunroof. Or is that only with it open? I was hoping to hook up some test equipment to your turbos, but I ended up staying pretty busy mostly behind the scenes.

^Oh, well I did meet you then. I remember the hat you were wearing but when you said straw hat I was thinking of the more traditional Hee-Haw style straw hat, haha. We talked for a few minutes by the fence too, during the race. I didn't realize that was you, and I didn't think til after we left to look for you. Yeah I'm surprised I fit in the car too, I think everyone is, haha. I wouldn't say I fit WELL, I just fit. So yeah, sunroof open or closed, it's just barely. Maybe I'll see you at the next MSCCNC meet, let me know if you're bringing your test equipment. Thanks again.

I was up all that night going through the pix and and putting together the slide show. That was after going from 5:30 am to 10 pm working on the RBQ itself. I've been out of town.

I'm taking a break from working on the FD. I fixed a short in the main ground that kept the car from making it to the RBQ. I was putting away my "track" wheels and slammed my head on the low door sill to my "basement."
Need to investigate an oil leak from what I hope are the oil lines to the turbos rather than the untits themselves.
An SRT-4 was one of the best cars for the money. If i had one I'd debadge it or rebadge it as a Neon. Then strip it out, put a rollbar in it, buy some track tires and show some folks that speed is more a function of the driver rather than the car. But I am a track addict. Thats what I do.

Like I said before David, I would never put my 8 up against an SRT...it would be like going up against a Civic with a K20 swap...those cars are too light with an over amount of horsepower to overcompensate for they really are. Give me a Cobalt SS or an seR and we will go play somewhere. LOL
I'm with technonovice, take it to the track that shows true driving skill...straight line driving , curvy roads/track driving

honestly i have been looking at the stock numbers for the rx8 and the srt4. i don't see that much difference in the numbers, to be talking smack like the rx8 is a porsche or something. reading a little more, it seems w/stage 3 suspension will take the srt to identical numbers as the rx8.
i would like to drive an srt and see what it can really do. i don't think it would take much to make it keep up with an rx8. remember the rx8 is more of a touring car, so it does not have the handling of the rx7.
david you up for letting me drive your baby? j/k
note: i am not an expert on either the srt or the rx8, only have the numbers i have found online. also i know these tests don't tell the WHOLE tale, but are a good base referecne. these are those numbers:
SRT
.85 skidpad
69.1 mph
srt w/mopar stage 3 coilovers, and sway bars(available from factory)
.91 skidpad
70.4 skid
rx8
0.90 g
70.6 mph
it makes sense why all the 8s were slowing me down at the gap now, LOL.
on the reverse of that a stage 1 srt4 and an rx8 have similar straightline performance numbers too.

I'd love to mod the SRT-4's suspension and put her on a road course...
I love the SRT-4.
I've been brainwashed! I can't help it! I just like torque, dammit.
I can't wait to own a rotary FD, though... and once the motor goes (which it will), my anger level will help me make the choice of either going 20B or LS1.
