Good one Eric!! There were 1500 made but since the changes in the car were only cosmetic there a some "clone's" running around.

Jason I am gonna try and make it, if Eric still has an empty seat by then. I am pretty sure Johny is there also.

George Samuels may come down with his infamous 3 rotor vert. I hope we pummel the Miatas in attendance.

I should still have an empty seat, I'm not asking anyone to go with me from here, being somewhat of a pilgrimage for rotary/Mazda owners, haha.

Jesse-
So we're talking about the same guy? Did he ever come to any of the Char-Grill meets cause I don't remember him? I just couldn't believe that if you had a rotary and lived in Raleigh that you wouldn't make it to the RRDI, I LOVE it, haha.
Johny-
Thanks for the link. I might jump on them just because my seats are in bad condition, but one of the reasons I was replacing the seats instead of just covers is to get lower seats so my head doesn't hit anymore. I'm going to PM him though, thanks a million!

Eric there is a group buy going on from leatherseats. it is something like 80 off regular price. there are few reclineable seats that fit well into the FD. the CR1 is definitely not one of those, i've seen them in an FD and they rub/push up on the door panel pretty bad. if you want a good fit you are probably going to have to go with just a regular race bucket, no recline. i looked into it over and over, that is why i decide to stay stock, and just reupholster. half the price, at least, and i know they fit.

Thanks for the input Johny, I'll steer clear then I guess.
Josh- That's what I've been planning to do til I can afford race seats, but the cushioning in the driver's bolster where it always tears is really bad.

yea, you know upholstery foam will fill it in just right. i plan on trying to stuff about 1/4 to 1/2 high density foam into mine to make up for any loft that the original has lost. there is a shop here in raleigh that sells all that stuff.
is your seat opened/ripped all the way up? like as in the seam is torn open? i didnt think yours was that bad.
i think racing seats look awesome, and of course are functional, it's just that they are so pricey, and being able to recline is nice.
of course i am not as tall as you, so my head doesnt bump, unless i sit up really really straight. so i can see why you might want to go with something lower. have you ever thought about bolting the seat directly to the floor, with a bracket, it would give you some head clearance, but take aways sliding capability. i know a lot of Fiero guys uses to do that.

Yeah she called a little bit ago, we were talking about going to Raleigh. I'll split the ticket if you want, I don't mind. Or if you want me to get it, that's cool too. Just don't want to kick out my brother Josh, haha. He has that seat, haha. He needs to see how my suspension rides too.

I didn't think about upholstery foam. Yeah that bolster is ripped bad, the foam inside is ripped all the way to the bar, you can touch the bar with your finger. That's why I was kinda looking at going with a whole new seat or replacing the driver's seat. Plus for some reason on longer trips the right side of my hip starts to hurt, like keys or something was digging in, even if I don't have anything in my pocket. So that side of the seat is messed up too. I'm not so worried about how racing seats look, I like the stock seats too, it's just the ergonomics of the whole thing. But the price almost physically hurts, haha. I've thought about bolting it to the floor, but sometimes I need to get the seat forward to get in back there. So I'm still searching for an answer, lol. Thanks for your input though, and the info.

No it's cool man, don't worry about it. You have the seat, it's your seat, lol. I'd like you to ride along and probably drive some of it so you can tell me what you think and all the things that might be wrong with it. Besides, I haven't met her yet and we may not even have anything in common...you and I can talk about cars. Pistons, rotors, whatever LOL.
