Unfortunately I'm not going to be there tonight, since I'm dealing with master cylinder problems. This is going to be the third master cylinder ordered from Advance Auto and I hope this is IT. I'm getting so sick and tired of this. By the way, this whole VIN number-tracking-down-idea-thingy; where should I start? I want to be able to know all about my car. Should I just get in contact with the DMV and tell them my VIN number so I can get the exact kind of RX-7 I have? I suspect it's a sports package RX-7, though I'm not too sure. Thanks guys.

The project should be done by the end of july, if all goes according to plan.

Sorry guys, but all i have to say is 400+RWHP with no reliability issues, is too much for me to resist. I suppose I have gone to the darkside, maybe i will change my name to Vader. LOL sorry i know that is corny, but i can't resist.
YAY I have a comrade!!!!!

I am in the mists of doing My own V8 swap; If you need help man I got a spare pair of hands and lotsa tools. I also have the hookup on used engines, SO if you ask real nice I might be able to find you a drop out fairly cheap.

how is that Northstar swap going? I went to your sight and saw the pictures. it's going to be kick a$$, i think the weight distribution will be better than an LS1. an ex-RX7, now Supra guy told me, that one day rotary powered RX7s will be rarer than twin turbo Supras. LOL. The darkside will prevail.

asking nicely, begging even. I am looking at a something 50K miles or less. I thought i had a deal with someone on one with about 29K, but it got sold out from under me.

that being said, i think my hunger for power in the 400RWHP~ range is unfortunately better satiated by 8 pistons.

also as a side note, though the LS1s stock redline is 6K, with minor valvetrain mods it can be made to rev and pull to 7K(higher if you have big money). after owning a rotary i will definitely be trying to raise my redline as much as possible. i will miss the extra 2K of revs.

also, i will be taking my time with this one. realistically, it will probably be more like the middle of august, before she is done done, but driveable by end of July. Of course we all know how projects go it'll probably be december LOL
I'm not knocking it at all, I'm personally just not ready to give up on the rotary yet. It just sucks cause I was hoping of racing you again with my rotary against yours, only with me having more power this time, haha. Especially on the Gap too, now that my suspension is a million times better and it can actually handle like an FD is supposed to. And now that will never happen. Better yet though, what are you doing with your engine? I can see myself doing a rebuild now that I'm single and have unlimited time (well, just not limited AFTER duty hours anyway, he-he). Or maybe I'll still just have Gotham Racing build the engine with the port matched turbo system and still get the free tune. Decisions decisions. I would actually love to build it myself. Either way, you better have the project finished by September to make the bi-annual trip to the Gap in September, it is imperative we have the whole Death Squad there. Speaking of which are Rob and Long going again too? And I'm sure Chris is going.

So I assume you didn't make it to NOPI today?

How's that vacuum line holding up for ya? Haha. Where did you get your avatar pic? I'd like to get ahold of one of those tiny rotaries, just in case mine goes out soon, haha.

no had about half a million things to ship and other errands to run. are you serious about the engine? if you are hit me on PMs and let me know. for you i would be willing to let it go pretty cheap. it is running 2mm seals so a standard rebuild should work well on it. if not i have someone wanting the steels. you are like a brother so you have first dibs.

if it is done by september i will try and make the september run. my bro will probably go back with me in the spring, but prob not for september.

as far as the race, this is the perfect chance for you to prove rotary superiority, IF YOU CAN!..........burn!! lol j/k I think the way you are going about things you are well on your way to building a more lethal combo than i had, and better than the ls1 i will be dropping in.

Vacuum line is actually holding up as far as I can tell. Hopefully tomorrow I'll have the right master cylinder and can get this puppy on the road again. I just want my car back! Yesterday was the first time I've ever ridden in a turbo car and I was "blown" away. (Har har) It belongs to Mike Jones at NTB and is in immaculate condition. I really like his ride. I really want to stick with this whole rotary-engine thing. I keep hearing about LS1 swaps and it leaves me feeling a little empty. To make myself feel better, I was watching a clip (I think I mentioned this one before) of a ~685 HP FD. That hit my right in the "triangular." (Get it!? Jugular -> triangular!? Whatev...I've been stuck in the apartment all day.)

Wow, that last post seemed to be all over the place. Like my car above 70 mph... I came across the tiny rotary through Google one day. Don't remember the search terms.

3 rotor? cuz a 13b with kinda power behind it is a ticking time bomb, LOL, or strictly drag where the engine gets ripped down after X-number of passes. I have seen some crazy 3 rotors out there though.

i understand why everyone loves the rotary, don't get me wrong. the thing to remember is i have been there and done that with the rotary, and once was enough. the same way the thought of a LS1 leaves you feeling empty, the thought of another 13B that only last 15-20K miles leaves me with the same feeling.

it would actually anger me if everyone switched over to pistons. so please, you diehard rotorheads keep those trochoids spinning.

Yep, serious about the engine, PMed you. Thanks for the "brother" discount/dibs, haha.

Alright Kelso, nice burn, haha. I'm not sure about having a more lethal combo than an LS1 but I'm damn sure gonna try, that's my goal now. If not in a straight line (and probably not) I'll have to at least try to have Dragon superiority, haha.

i watch a lot of TV, what can i say. plus, i just enjoy a good burn. With the suspension you are running, i think you had me on the dragon, rotary or piston. the only thing i will warn is this, i am crazy. also i hope to have sway bars and stickier tires by april.

i have talked to several LS1 guys and handling is not significantly decrease with the ls1. I plan on moving some weight around to try and balance the car. worse comes to worse i will leave my subs in the trunk, that is like an extra 75lbs alone, that should balance her right out.

Well, I wish I had this suspension when we ran the dragon this year already, that's why I'm drooling for September . I already knew you were crazy, it's just funny to hear you say it like that, haha. I'm not trying to play chicken or anything, so if that's what you're thinking you can forget it, haha. I'm not risking my baby. I was going to go with Falken FK-451 or whatever, but I found a better deal at Tire Rack for Dunlop SP Sport FM901, and the reviews look pretty good. So if I ever get my damn wheels...haha. Sway bars are a TREMENDOUS difference. I got the RB front and rear, and they make me .

I've read up quite a bit on the handling with an LS1, I know it doesn't make that much of a difference, but I have to try to beat you on SOME level. I'm actually looking at putting some 8" subs in the back soon, getting the whole sound system done. Although I'm not going for much, just SOMETHING. All of it is messed up right now so I'm having the stereo and front speakers put in, and the subs and amp I'm going to do myself so I can take it out when I run the dragon again or the track or whatever. The box fits perfectly under the rear strut bar, almost like it's made for the FD. Good luck with the project though, and if you need help I'm just a call away.

come monday I will ask our commercial guy (who is a big f-body fan) and see what he can come up with as far as a dropout for ya. is there any particular year Lsx you are looking for?

i'm sorry i am not familiar with that engine designation. it looks a lot like a N/A Cobra Motor.

As far as the lsX. I would prefer and LS6 out of a vetter, and a T56 outta a firebird transam, but think it will either be a) outta my price range, and b)hard to get a hold of. Other than that any 99 or later LS1/T56 dropout with low miles will work they are all more or less the same(prefer the 02 for the ls6 intake). Thanks for the help.

EDIT: a lexus engine. elaborate as to why, please. better weight or just the exotic aspect of it?

I still have some life left in my tires, but think they will be gone by april. the sway bars are a definite.

I agree with the no playing chicken. i want us both to go and come back in one piece, the cars too.

dude there is no need to compete, i love the combo you are putting together. honestly, if i were to do another rotary it would be just like what you are putting together.

So what transmission are you going with? I was going to do a 1uzfe swap into my cressida but i couldnt find a reasonibly priced trans set-up for it. I was wanting to use an r-154 but just the bellhousing/flywheel/clutch set-up was going to cost like 1800 in itself.

Oh no, I'm not all about competition either, I'm saying this as more of the iconic V8 vs. Rotary debate, haha. I don't feel the need to compete with you, you are also like a brother to me, as far as I'm concerned. If you're referring to...
but I have to try to beat you on SOME level
...I actually was joking, I meant to put a "haha" in there, I'm not sure why I didn't, haha. I don't strive to compete with you or ANYONE in our club, I love all you guys and would never want to harm that. Actually it's an honor to know I'm going the route you would go again, haha.

It is a little of both actually, the Lexus motor is the same weight dressed, as an LS or Northstar motor is bare. It also meets my requirements of a Dual overhead cam V8, and all the little technical bits I find out about the motor make it even better. it has direct tappet valves steel liners, 6 bolt main (steel caps), all forgered and balanced internals (some came with oil squirters), radiused and balanced crank, and more and more there is alot of little technical goodies that make this engine pretty badass, and as a kicker it can be had for about $550.

And Jesse, i will be tryin to use a T56 from a 98-99 f-body with some adapters. As far as the price of the tranny will go, I dont care too much because its going to be one of the bigger peices in the back bone of this build so I have def set aside extra to get a good strong tranny.

Well I hate that I missed the Drive In this past saturday night...again. But I do have some brand new KYB AGX shocks/struts ready to go onto the vert. Since I'm planning on replacing the springs at the same time, I was wondering if any of the local Raleigh folks have a KYB AGX / Racing Beat or Eibach setup on their FC. I keep going back and forth between which spring I want and have read every post (I think) that I could find on here. I just would like to catch up with someone with a similiar set up and maybe take a ride along with them to see (feel) the setup. Maybe this will help with my decision.

Thanks !

Haha. Animosity has never even crossed my mind, it's always been about having fun. Yeah I'll line up the Green Meany (HAHAHA). That's a good name actually, it makes more sense than Melba Toast, haha. I just got to PM you back today cause my computer is being a POS and I have to do this at work, haha. I sent you an email about it too. I was just looking at getting the diff and tranny braces too, HAHA. DAMN I'm just too slow with this stuff. I've never been good at getting parts on the forums. And I just realized if I go single soon, that nice shiny new GReddy DP I just bought will be useless, so I gotta get this thing put on soon, haha. Rishie said he's calling Enkei about my wheels tomorrow morning (turns out I'm not the only one waiting on an overdue order) and Ramy said the company has been dragging their feet on my brake rotors and I should have those by the end of this week too. Let's just hope.

Thanks !

I had KYB AGX struts with Ground Control coilovers on my 97 Prelude and I HATED them with a passion. I despise those struts. The driver's side front one was blown when I took them out too. The reason I hated them might have been that I had my car lowered and these things apparently weren't meant to go too low. It's not like I was dragging on the ground or anything. I had coilovers on the stock struts in Vegas and the ride was phenomenal, so I have my stockers back on now, and I don't think I like the coilovers either, haha. Either way, I hope they turn out alot better for you. Good luck.

I've got the shocks but I'm running Tanabe race springs on my Turbo. Stiffness is highest to lowest... RSR, Tanabe, everything else heh. I think a lot of folks go with the Racing Beat 'vert springs for the 'vert. I've been told by some people elsewhere just to keep the stock ones and do the KYBs on my Vert. Anyway, those shocks are great.

Oh I'm DEFINITELY trying to make this. Who knows the way things have been going lately though. Josh, need a ride? Haha.

And Greg, I'm catching up to you, you need to start throwing up some more be-nippled posts, haha.
