Members of MSCCNC I'm assuming, or will being a member of this site work? I'm not a member of MSCCNC yet. $25-35 isn't bad, not for what you're talking about. I might have to just jump on board with this.

Well folks, I got a special treat today. It was certainly not free, but it's well worth what I paid. Or at least it WILL be once it's installed. Enjoy, and drool if you must.

Nice hardware. Have you logged any data (temps. power ..etc) with your current set up to see the difference?

Yessir Jesse, V-mount. When I first opened it I had to wipe all my drool off it, haha. No Techno, I haven't logged anything as of yet. I'm still pretty new to this whole thing, and not much has been done in that department so far, so I'm not sure what my temps are, they only extra gauge I have right now is a boost gauge. I'd be interested in seeing the difference though. I'm thinking about waiting to install it til I do the engine/turbo project, and that won't be for a while since it's still in good shape. But, if anyone wants to help...haha. And for power, I'm going to get the boost leak and everything fixed first, and then MAYBE get a dyno done, just so I know where I stand, and like you say, have a better idea at the end of the project just how far I've come.

I'm getting an Apex'i PFC, and if I follow through with the current plan (engine and turbo kit from Gotham Racing), I'll get a free tune worth $500 from Steve Kan after I get it broken in.

let me know when you are going to do the install Eric. I will try and come down to help.
Thanks Josh, I'll let you know. I'm not sure what I'd have to do to set it up with the twins, and I know I need to relocate the battery or get a small one.

And that's a funny Chuck Norris quote, I hadn't heard that one before, haha.

On the battery, either way is valid. Its safer to to leave it under the hood. That said, mine is in the bin behind the driver...an Odyessey PC680 IIRC. With a larger radiator and intercooler you will be adding weight to the nose of the car so you could argue that moving the battery to the middle of the car is that much better. However, when its all done I think the real world difference in handling is minute.

I don't know what OBD I info is possible to extract from the stock ecu. My though was you could get some very rough data via the PFC with a commander, but I imagine the tuning would be so far off that it would not all that useful. Dyno data sounds like a good idea. It would be practical and fun to get a baseline and see where you take it. A healthy stock number is around 225 whp. I don't have a lot of persoanl experience with singles, but it commonly said that a single with bolt ons can do over 300 whp at just 10 psi. I seen FDs with the twins using similar hardware to yours make less than 300 whp on 14 psi.

When you fit the radiator, make sure you duct & seal it well. It makes a HUGE difference on how well it cools. There is a great post by Damian dela Huerta on duct work
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...ducting+damian

Good oil coolers make a huge difference too. My old stock one's fins are pretty beat up, but I've seen track guys have to tape off the surface area of oil coolers on cool days because they worked so well.

I've been thinking about going single, but not on the FD...something a little newer.

Thanks for the info techno! The only reason I don't want to move the battery to the rear bin is because I don't want to make any holes in it. Someone said there might be a way to run it without making holes but I don't see how.

I'm still not REALLY sure I'm going single. I've been thinking lately more about BNR Stage 3 like GoodfellaFD3S (I think his is still sequential too), that way I can still make good power and have quite a bit of low-end too. After I get back my full 10psi and I'm sure everything is running properly, I'll probably get it dynoed.

I was just looking at this other thread...

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...79#post5831779

...Bmike on the last page there, his setup. The duct work going from his front bumper to the V-mount. I was thinking if I go with that, seal it off so the air is forced through the intercooler and radiator, then get a vented hood, I should be good to go.

My stock oil cooler is screwed, I just noticed it the other day. It looks like someone took a mallet to it, ALL the fins are bent down, so I'm going to get dual oil coolers from RotorSports Racing or somewhere else. I didn't realize you'd have to tape them off on cool days. Wow, must work REALLY well, haha.

Well as far taping the oil coolers off, those cars also had very big inlets in the front. The late Killer Bee of Fritz's for example. I dont have an oil temp gauge yet.Have you posted about you boost issues yet? Direct me there. maybe we can get some things sorted.

I haven't actually posted about it yet cause I haven't ripped anything apart to find the problem, so as of right now I just have ideas of what it might be. When Josh and I replaced the vacuum lines, ever since then I've had the problem. I did notice one of the check valves was in backwards, but I changed it and still have the problem. I can hear the BOV and since you're not supposed to hear it in stock trim I'm assuming there is actually a leak somewhere. If I stomp on the gas right away I won't get ANY boost in any gear, but if I ease into it at first, then get on it a little more, I'll only get about 5psi. When we were doing the vacuum line job, I broke one of the nipples off the primary turbo inlet elbow so we screwed a brass nipple into the hole after using a dremel to grind it out enough, then put JB Weld on there to seal it up. I'm thinking maybe that's broken. I'm just hoping it's something simple. I'm supposed to drive up to Jersey to meet Rich (GoodfellaFD3S) and Ehor so they can check it out and maybe get some more power out of it, but Victor (pr soldier) is pretty knowledgeable about this stuff too so maybe he'll know. If you guys have any ideas I'm all ears though. I'm going down to Florida this weekend but I'll be around next weekend for NOPI/rotary BBQ of course, and most of the weekends after that. Gotta get to bed now, I'm supposed to be leaving in the morning, haha. Thanks.

I wished we'd talked earlier.Maybe we could have saved you the long trip. You never know how many problems you will run into troubleshooting the seq system, but it always makes sense.

You say no boost. Thats usually a leak, collapsed inlet hose, or a bad ABV. I suspect there is more than one problem.

Could be something flakey with the precontrol, though I'm not sure its possible to bleed all boost via precontrol. You didn't swap the Precontrol & wastegate connectors did you? If the Charge control were stuck open, it would vent some of the exhaust gas to the secondary away from the primary. Remember that any boost from the 2dary is vented via the CRV (looks like the ABV).

Anyway, things that effect primary boost:

The turbo itself
Inlet hoses- noted to sometimes collapse and block flow to turbo
Y-pipe & plumbing to manifold- check for leaks
The 1" hoses- make sure they cannot rotate and clamps are tight
Turbo Control- directs gas to spool primary
Charge Control- should be closed until time for 2dary turbo to come on
Precontrol- helps regulate primary boost and prespool the 2dary
Wastegate- should not be doing much on primary unless something is wacked
ABV- should be holding boost pressure (closed) and only vent under vacuum.

*Double Throttle Control- noted to restrict boost to 5 psi...I'd almost bet $1 on this one. I got rid of mine, but there may be a check valve on that line to the DTC.

Theonly other things I can think of are exhaust related. Manifold leak or clogged cat/muffler.

I'll be curious to see which and how many of these will be your culprits. I hope its simple and CHEAP!

Thanks techno. I forgot to mention a couple things before. First off, I think it's actually only getting 2-3 psi instead of 5, not like it matters, it's not what I'm supposed to be getting, haha. Second, I've noticed it's only kicking in around 3500, isn't the primary supposed to kick in at around 2500? I haven't gone to Jersey yet, and if I can fix the problem here at home I may just do that, although I'd love to see NYC sometime soon, haha. I'd like to get this fixed before we go to Deal's Gap again, I'll have to look at it with someone that knows what they're doing though, cause I don't know the system that well and most of the stuff you listed lost me, haha. I have a DP I plan on putting on as soon as I get an exhaust, so hopefully if my precat is clogged it won't be for long. For the other stuff, I have no problem ripping at apart, I just won't know what to look for if someone experienced isn't there to point it out. I might just go single afterall, haha.

I'll have to look around for his #. He's not a forum member. He used to drive RX-7s, so he happened to have parts in storage.
