Well, I'm gonna try to make it, I don't want to miss it this year too, especially after talking about it this much and getting all excited and inviting other people, haha. Now, after I get it back together, if you guys can come down and help me get it running that would be great, unless you want me to bring it up to the usual maintenance place of the Char-Grill parking lot, haha. Joking, I'm going to do my best to make it, but I'm NOT driving anything but the 7.

Very nice johny! I find it hard to believe that the only thing your going to do is swap that motor in. Are you thinking about going with a full aftermarket turbo, instead of the hybrid? That would be really sweet. I think you might be happy with about 400rwhp

So I get the engine from Anne then to put in the 'vert???? Heh...as tempting as doing a turbo swap on the 'vert would be I'm keeping it stock till she lets go. Then....prolly just get a rebuild. Rather put money into restoring the rest of the car, like the top, seats, carpet, suspension, you know all the other stuff.... geeze I can see this is gonna be expensive. Anywho, still sounds like you're gonna have one hell of a car when it happens!

The legal troubles I got into in the GSL-SE have been resolved now. For those who may not remember or didn't see the previous post, the cliffs notes:

Got pulled for speeding. Pissed the cop off. Got TWO tickets for speeding 47 in a 35, and two reckless endangerment (WTF?)

Got the speeding tickets reduced to 44 in a 35 (I didn't even ask for that, but yay!) The reckless endangerment charges were reduced to running a stop sign, which is what I actually did, and a prayer for judgement was used for it. So, now I end up with one point on my license and I only have to pay $135 for the fine and court costs. And I have to be a good boy for a year.

I am glad that despite the fact that cops love handing out tickets and inflating charges, the DA's understand that it's just an excuse to increase revenue and won't screw up your driving record and insurance rates as long as you are willing to pay the fines.

Only bad thing is that I cancelled my plans to go to Deals Gap because I was expecting to have to pay a huge lawyer fee. Oh well, at least I was able to get some new tires finally put on the Miata today.

Hey Johny, it was good seeing you again this past Saturday at VIR. Let me know the progress on your FD engine swap. I might call on your help to do a 20b swap on my 8 when my warranty runs out. Those damn vettes and STIs eating my up out there at VIR on the staights. A 20b swap would cure that! Actually more track experience for me should do the trick.

The Mazda Drives HPDE was great it was a lot of fun and a damn good learning experience. I also met a bunch of good people who are passionate about the sport, and saw some really cool cars. Thanks for the recommendation Johny!

Would it be too late to grab a spot on the floor of the Mansion? I might still be able to get off for those days, but I know that it's too late to mail Johnny a check for it, unless he could take paypal or something.

It doesn't take 250 bucks in gas in a 30 mpg Miata

I figure I'm going to put about 1500 miles on the Turbo for this event. 18 gallons of prem will run me about 50 bucks a tank at least, figure I'll go thru at least 5 tanks.... $250 bucks. I don't care if it cost me $300 on gas I'm going to have some damn fun driving up there. I think we'll have some room left on the floor. I doubt it will be a problem paying him the cash once you're there.

Okay, I'll check with my boss at work tomorrow and see if I can get off on such short notice, but I don't think that will be a problem unless someone else is supposed to go on vacation at the same time.

We were going to leave on Friday and come back on Sunday, right?

UPDATE: Melba Toast still isn't running. Got it all back together tonight but it still won't start. It sounded like it was about to about 4 times, but never did. So I will continue on this. Here's what I'm thinking...could be stuck seal(s) like Josh said (heaven forbid), flooded, no fuel for a number of reasons, no spark for a few reasons, the fuel is bad like last time (but I already added some injector cleaner like last time and more fuel so it should be ready to start soon if what happened last time is any indication)...anyone else have any ideas? I should still have spark cause last time I definitely had spark, anyone that's heard the story knows, haha. Like a fire-breathing dragon. I think the flooded issue would be fixed by now, I've tried a couple different proven ways of de-flooding. Barb got it started last time (after putting in the injector cleaner, I think that's what it was) by fluttering the throttle while starting, so we were trying that tonight but I was thinking it would probably just be flooding it. I hope this thing starts soon, wish me luck.

Oh, and threating her with an LS1 didn't work so don't try it.

Speedjunkie, its not much, but check to make sure you are getting spark. Probably not the problem but on my car I thought it was flooded (it would sound like it was about to turn over) but it was actually my ignition coils. My car was running really rich before hand so I knew something was up.

the TII has an 18 gallon tank? I thought all of the 7s had a 16 gallon tank?

thanks for posting the estimates, though. I hadn't really sat down and calculated it all out yet, since I didn't know how many miles we'd be driving.

Definitely doing an oil change this weekend.

Some people are leaving Thursday, others Friday. see the RRDI forum... but either way, there might be 2 groups leaving Friday, because some people can't get away from classes Friday morning, so they'll be leaving around 1. the rest of them want to leave in the morning sometime. It all hasn't really been ironed out yet.

Alright, that's the next thing I'm checking. Thanks for the advice Rob. I know the ignitor is good and the wires should be good too. Hopefully I didn't mess up something with the coils when putting it back in. Thanks again.
