Whats up everybody. Hope all ya'll are doing good. I guess I will give ya'll a little update on what i have been up too.
School is still going well, i'm absolutly loveing it! Last phase i had the highest grades in the class so i got SOC honers. That phase was suspension. I had a little bit of an advantage over most of the guys because thats what i have been doing for the last 3 years. This phase i am doing drivetrain. We have been working with manual transmissions, rear ends, transfer cases, and U-joints. Its some pretty interesting stuff. I'm looking forward actually getting to apply what i have learned. I have about 3 TII trannies at the house that could use a rebuild.
The TII has been in Durham for about 4 weeks now. I decided to go back with power steering. I just didn't like the extra steering effort when driving on the street. I was hoping it was going to be a one day thing, but it turned out that my intercooler piping wouldn'd clear the powersteering pump. So i had to order some more pipe off of ebay and rerout the piping.
I figured while I had the car down, i might as well do some other stuff. I have had a front end rebuild kit laying around for a while now, so I decided to rip all of the suspension apart. Thats how it sits right now. Its about half done. All this work is in preperation of TOTD. When its done, it should handle awesome.
I also purchased some new tires for the BBS rims that i have on there now. I ended up getting some Falken RT-615. There supposed to be some awesome tires.
Hope everybody's doing well. Hope to see ya'll at a meet if i can every get a saturday off.
Steve

***ANNOUNCEMENT***
January 28 is our next meet.
That evening is the same evening as Mary's Christmas Tree Bonfire at her farm. We're invited to come... with or without a tree. She does ask that everyone bring a covered dish of some sort, because it's a cookout kind of thing. Bring your own drink... but as far as food, anything is fine.
We can meet at char-grill at 5 like usual, and leave from char-grill around 6:30-7 to drive up to the farm. Everyone is welcome. PM me with any questions. Or call my cell.

hey gang, ive been on this site for about the last week or so...im about to become a 3rd gen owner...a 94 to be exact. i currently own a 06 cobalt ss/sc. im not getting rid of it because the 3rd gen is gonna be free...lol...i got lucky what can i say...
i do not know if it runs or not because we dont have any keys for it but i would like to know some basics about these things...seems like the first things i would want to do would be replace the ast, radiator and the vaccumm hoses? also how do i need to go about getting a key cut? do i need a key code for it to operate the ignition?
thanks in advance

Welcome! Looks like you've been doing some looking allready but be sure to read everything you can in that thread. It looked kinda like what they have for the 2nd gens and that covers just about evrything you need to know to start with. Make the 3rd gen section you best friend. Not sure what to tell you about the key , if you get a clear title and/or the vin number I guess Mazda could give you the info for getting a key cut or something like that.
Now, tell us more about the car and the story behind it!!!! BTW, you need to get it on the road as quick as possible so you can take it to Deals Gap with us in April. Lets see, that gives you about 2 1/2 months to get it ready. Then you can find out why we love our cars. Anyways, welcome again and keep us informed on the car and make it to obe of our meets as soon as you can, in either car!

Sounds like an interesting plan to me Perky. As long as I can pull in there in there and not rip the front end or the exhaust off of the Turbo!!!! Last time out there was fun, and we'll have a fire again to keep us warm while outside! Covered dish.... I think I have a dish somewhere. Wonder if Cheetos counts?

Oh my god it finally happened!!! After 6 years and 3 RX-7s I got in one and it wound't start!!! Glad I have two! Yeah, got in the vert this morning and tried starting it. It didn't catch right up as usual and while turning over it didn't sound right at all. Tried it again and decided yep something ain't right. Then I smelled gas...oops. Me thinks da battery be sucketh since I didn't drive it for a few days and it's an old one. Guess I'll be playing with it on Wednesday to see what's up.

The vacum lines are silicone witch you should be happy with becouse they do cost a few pennys and its a pain to replace the AST is not stock eather the stock one is black and it is plastick. Make sure you change the plugs in it and the coolant also look at your radiator hoses and make sure they are in good condition. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

The first thing you need to do is get a boost gauge and see if it's boosting properly. Look at that first link and scroll down to the "engine and turbos" section, it should let you know. Let me just warn you that troubleshooting boost leaks on stock turbos can be a huge bitch. That's why a lot of people eventually switch to a larger single turbo. Josh (AntiVenom7 on here) has a really nice single turbo setup should you ever feel the need to go that route...

Hello everyone!
My name is Peyman, pronounced Pay-Mon, and i have a 88 vert with a tii swap. The car is black with a red tii hood. I was wondering when the next meet is, what date and time because i'm thinking about dropping by with my girlfriend.
I want to meet all of ya'll, and just hang out and have fun.
Looking forward in seeing ya'll!
btw, i need a tps adjustment, and i dont know how to do it, so if anyone is willing to help me at the meet, i'll buy them dinner/beer or whatever.

We are meeting at 5, and caravaning to a friend's farm around 7-ish for a bonfire. Normally we spend the entire meeting at Char Grill, but this weekend, we're mixing it up a little bit. Please bring some sort of food item, that feeds about 20 people... but please, no alcohol at the farm. (Obviously, since it's a car meeting. hehe)
If I can find my volt meter, I could help you with the TPS. if you search on here on the forums, you should find the instructions on how to do it yourself.
Anyway, welcome to the group. See you Saturday. PM me if you have any questions or you need directions.

ok well got a key cut today...battery was dead as planned...took a charger out there to help crank it...it was obviously flooded out. got that taken care of...tried cranking it again, and it sputters like it wants to crank...i wish i had someone around to tell me what was going on, those guy at the shop are dumb...i almost think the battery was just too dead to support trying to crank it

If the car has sat for a while and not cranked (which it sounds like), do a good tune on it... plugs, fuel filter, check the air filter, flush coolant, change oil and filter fill up the gas tank and then give it a shot. Any one of the elements could be the culprit and you need to change them eventually anyway. If that's not it, the injectors could be leaking or YOUR TPS could be way off or the idle screw under the elbow may be messed up. Depends on what these "dumb people" at the shop have messed with and screwed up. That'll be your best bet to try first. Hope it works.
