johny do you know how much water the radiator will hold?
I hear you on the neon part...I dunno though. I never thought I'd own one for that SAME reason...then I test drove it and didn't care anymore, lol. Now that I have one the look is actually growing on me...scary thought huh? Hey Josh, any news from the insurance company yet? And have you already looked into any of these companies? Sorry I can't throw my $0.02 in on this one..damned out of towners!!! lol, hope things get sorted out for you soon. I know insurance can be a pain to deal with

fb turbo

the friend I was talking about earlier, the one who was putting the turbo on his fb finished at last. We had some problems starting it though. But new plugs and also draining coolant out of the rotor housing fixed fixed all that. Don't ask, I have no idea how coolant got into the rotor housing. lol. Its not quite down he still has to jet the carb and tune the boost. Like, it pulls a hell of alot better then before but the turbo dosen't really kick in till about 6000rpms. So it pulls for about 2000 more then the rev limiter kicks in. But when the turbo does kick in, damn its fast. I have pics but not current. but I'll post it anyways. Tomorrow I'll post some current ones maybe even a vid if I can find out how... sorry for the long winded post

I was just wondering, is there any place around here that is worth going to to get replacement parts, oem or better? I really don't feel like dealing with the idiots at an APC Promotion Hall, but I guess I would if they sold the parts for a decent amount. Also, does anyone know if the clutch kit by Atkins is an oem replacement, or a tad beefier? I don't think my clutch needs replacing, more likely the thingy that engages it (forgot the name) needs replacing or tightening, but it still wouldn't hurt.

Also, I work till 7:30 on Sat, and would only be able to get to Char-Grill around 8 or so, Smoken' said that there are still a few people up there at that time. I need all the info I can get, so if anyone else is staying a little later, please let me know.

BTW, this forum is wayyyy nicer than Honda-Tech is/was.

Well, for replacement parts, if you don't mind used just post in here, someone's probably got the part you need laying around in their garage unused. For small consumables like sparkplugs, wires, etc I've found Advance Auto either keeps in stock or can order a lot of stuff for the 7s that no one else carries. And then for actual OEM parts, I usually just order from Mazdatrix, I'm not too fond of the dealership here.

Also for stuff that doesn't necessarily need to be OEM, I've ordered quite a few things from www.rockauto.com . They are pretty cheap and ship quickly.

Good. I don't want to show up and have no one there or make Steve (Smoken') feel guilty and stay there just for me to come. I will try advance I guess. Oh yea, I just checked the Shop Manual thing (it's like a 2nd Bible), and the part I think I need to tinker with is the clutch release. I remember it messed up on my dad's Nissan and he put a penny in between the actuator and w/e and she worked nice for a while, till the penny fell out of course. Does anyone know how to mess with that and actually not do a ghetto job? It doesn't really go into detail in the manual about the part. Maybe I'm missing something.

This manual is awesome though, it's pretty idiot proof. Well, I mean, I understand it.

last time i checked you lose more power in a frontwheel drive set-up than rearwheel, seeing as how it's a straight shot back, none of that horizontal **** with pulleys. I also was under the impression that a stock fd will go 0 to 60 in 4.7, not 5.3. on top of that, an srt neon is not a sport compact at all, nor is it an import. not only because of the obvious - 4 doors and 4 seats, but also because the fd's engine is mounted fairly low and imbetween the front axle and the firewall, giving it its renowned 4 wheel weight distribution and ability to run the slalom with real sport compacts in a price range of double what the fd was originally sold in. in a non related subject, real stress comes from being shot at, not taking a cruise.

david, the srt4 is amazing for the price there is no doubt. especially straightline performance. i think the stigma is in the long run it is still a neon. personally they have grown on me a lot. i have seen some look really mean, and run really fast.

i got a call from the people adjuster yesterday. i think i have found a body shop that is going to do what i need/want them to do. i don't know if i will have to get more than one estimate yet, so i might have to get up with you guys for some more detailed info.

hope to see everyone tomorrow, i will be bringing the scarred 7, but at least she will be boosting. i can't seem to win.

about the water wetter, have you guys really seen lower temps with it in YOUR cars. i am not saying you heard about a guy who knew a guy that ran 10degrees cooler, i mean in your personal rides?

I was kinda wondering the same thing, like i was saying earlier, I see high 90C temps and even over 100 sometimes in my car. A lot of the other guys recommended water wetter but I'm still hesitant because it usually seems like the problem lies elsewhere.

I can get some at my store (I'm pretty sure advance sells it.) It wouldn't hurt to test it out, would it?

i dunno taylor i am starting to think that is normal with a FMIC. with this super hot weather i am lucky to keep her in the lower 90s and that is with the fan going full time after 60degrees. i am running a 60/40 mix, and i have a vented hood.

rick told me those temps were about normal for his and he was running an auxillary fan for the FMIC.

unless someone has some solid #s i guess i will have to try some water wetter. i guess it is hard to tell, with weather varying daily, but i know more or less what my ranges for different outside temps, and times of day.

the upshot is i think a vmount or LARGE SMIC is the way to. Rob, should be able to enlighten us if he ever gets that 7 back on the road. unless they just parked it next to ashrafs and are just letting the legend live on.

Not sure, but I work there tonight, so I'll look and give you a call. I get paid tomorrow, so I can pick some up before the meet on Saturday.

How often should one do a radiator flush, anyway? I haven't done one since I've owned the car, and who knows when the previous owners did one. *growl*

What other vital fluids should I change/check/adjust/etc?
