i have delt with insurance companys way to many times this year just tell them to give you the money take it to the body shop that you want and if the money that they have given you is not enough to get it fixed let the body shop call the insurance company and talk.
My dad had a wreck few month back and it was basicly the rear bumper needed to get replaced and I think his insurance gave him like $1000 for it.

i have state farm, but i am having to deal with these peoples insurance. it is some company i never heard of. i suppose if they dont pay i can file it under uninsured driver. i talked to their company and they said someone would call me in the next couple of days.
i am not going to be satisfied unless i get a new bumper skin. it didnt have any waves or gouges before, so i dont think i should have to put up with a b rated repair job and you know they are gonna try and give me a hard time by sending me to some crappy, shady body shop.
any recommends on full blown body shops? i won't be using theirs, that is for sure.
i will try and post pics later.

I just picked up my RX-8 from Southern States Collision today. I am totally awed by the great job they did matching the paint on my car. It is perfect. I dealt with Stephen and they have a guy there he is says is difficult and odd but a master with paint so they keep him happy. I really recommend them. Can't say I am happy with the service department but the paint guy is an artist. I have his number if you want it.
I am so sorry to hear about your baby getting banged, good luck with the insurance. They can 'suggest' where they want you to take it but you can take it anywhere you want to.
Good luck,
Beth

Josh,
Sorry to hear about your accident. I worked at Kenny Hawkins Automotive a few summers ago, top notch work. They are expensive, but you should not have to worry about that since the other driver's insurance should be covering it. Most likely they would just order a new bumper from MAZDA. but I have seen some amazing repairs on damaged bumpers, looks like new and lasts. Good Luck

Meet on Saturday! YAY!
Also... I like the idea of carpooling to Nopi Nationals... I also like the idea of splitting hotel rooms for cost reasons... cuz gas is gonna SUCK to get down there.

ouch, I hear the gas deal Dlpz. My car is only supposed to use 93 octane on stock setup...so believe me...I still feel your pain. Hey Josh! Check this out man...I was REALLY bored one day out here and compared the SRT-4 to the FD(this is stock for stock only...I know RX-7's have more potential for what you can do to them than my car does...I ain't THAT stupid, lol)
Car make & model/ stock cost new / engine & drive setup / hp / torque / Weight / gas mileage city/hwy / tank size
Dodge Neon SRT-4 / $20,700 / Front engine FWD / 230whp / 250lb-ft @ wheels / 2,900 lbs / 22/30 / 12.5 gallons
Mazda RX-7 FD3S / $37,800 / Front engine RWD / 255 fly hp / 217lb-ft @ the fly / 2,830 lbs / 17/25 / 20.1
FD's have more hp...SRT's have more torque...You have rwd(RWD= SOME power loss...between 5-15hp/tq is usually lost in the drivetrain...BUT rwd hooks up better in most cases)...I'm positive your tires are wider than mine...my FWD car+my 5" wide rims with stock tires=no traction at start...you have 70 lbs less weight than me...you know what all that means right? I'm flying solo when we race...that means you have a 70 lb weight advantage on me unless you strap some 15 yr old in the shotty spot...then we'd be about even Sorry...I had to say it, lol. But I'm looking up 1/4 mile times right now...I think the SRT and RX-7 are pretty evenly matched. The FD just looks a LOT better and is a lot more luxurious/cushy and comfortable as a sport compact. Oh yeah...couldn't find anything on aerodynamics...but I'd be willing to bet the RX has that category on lockdown too, lol.
And the verdict is in...stock for stock...
Car make & model / 0-60 times / 0-100 times / 1/4 mile times / max speed
Dodge Neon SRT-4 / 5.3 seconds / 13.4 seconds / 13.9 seconds @103mph / 153mph
Mazda RX-7 FD3S / 5.2 seconds /12.9 seconds / 14.0 seconds @99mph / 155 mph

This isn't MY car...it's a BONE STOCK SRT-4. Look it up online. My car dyno'd 251 whp. With my latest change(injectors) I increased boost so I'm pushing more hp than that now. I think I'm closer to 275ish at the wheels including my other change outs...after I get my S1 computer and exhaust I'm going back to the dyno to see if I'm close to 300 like I've been told my setup with a comp and exhaust would do. I'm not holding my breath on 300...but 230 hp at the wheels is the stock number. Dodge dyno'd the car at the wheels and published those numbers instead. Everyone was surprised when they found out where the dynograph was measured for marketing purposes. When asked why they put out wheel numbers for marketing, they simply replied, "Where did you expect us to measure? At the flywheel?" Look online at the reviews. It'll tell the story on it's own. Everyone jokes on my car...yeah, I admit...it's just a neon with a body kit as far as looks go...not enticing or sexy by ANY means. BUT...the numbers and the fact it can carry 4 adults semi-comfortably with lots of trunk space is the whole reason I was sold on it so fast. It's a fast, useful daily driver and great weekend warrior that can eat STi's, Evo's and GT Mustangs on the roads all in one. Talk about a sleeper

i think if they would have put the motor for the srt4 into a body of its own that wasnt a neon it would have done a hell of alot better in sales i love the power of the car but its still a neon at the end of the day and thats what keeped me from getting one.
johny do you know how much water the radiator will hold?
