sounds good to me for saturday. I thought the synthetic motor oil was a no no for the rotary since they use the oil injection. Not sure but i hope it works well for you.

i should have been more clear in my original post. the upshot is that more and more the synthetic taboo is being proven more of a myth than anything else.
hell for me changing oil is every 3000 miles is only twice a year if that. synthetic doesnt separate as quickly as dinosaur so it is better for cars that sit longer. separate is not the right word, but i am talking about the stabilizers,etc which dictate the recommended 3 month period. in other words synthetic is more stable.
at least this is my general and vague understanding of it. i tend to run synthetic, but am not a stickler for it. if i am a little short on money i just put dyno oil in it. it is not like you cant switch back in forth. your car is a machine it isn't going to get its feelings hurt.

On synthetic oils, yes they weren't recommended for the rotary engine when our cars were in production but that technology has advanced tremendously in the last 10 years. I wouldn't run any syn oil in a rotary but Royal Purple, Redline, and Amsoil are the highest rated syns and RP has the best rating on the qualities a rotary engine can benefit from. I have done a ton of research concerning using syn oil in a rotary and from what I've read RP is one of the few syn oils that is recommended for the rotary engine due to its lubrication qualities and its ability to stand up to the higher temps of rotary engine. It can provide more lubrication to the rotors and seals due to its resistance to thermal breakdown. Beleive me I wouldn't risk any damage to my engine if I had any doubts about the quality of the oil and what happens to it in the engine. If anyone wants to try RP I've got 6 qts left from the case, if not I'll keep'em for my next oil change.

what do you guys think of Rotorsports? I heard some really bad **** about them tonight, the people I talked to said the motor I bought from them probally didn't have half the **** down to it that rotorsports said it did, they also told me with my setup that I would get no where near the HP numbers that I was told I would get. They said not to believe a word that comes out of Bryan's mouth, which sucks because I was going to have them tune my Turbo RX-8. Now I don't know who to have do it, who are some other good rotary shops?
Also the VIR event are we aloud out on the track?

I have heard several differnt things about rotorsports. I haven't heard of them being that crooked though. From what i have heard, they know there stuff. Josh, Johnny and Rick have both been there so they will be able to tell you first hand. Like everyshop I have heard of, there is always somebody that has had a bad experience. Thats just how it goes with the automotive industry...

You can't believe everything you hear or you read. I have never dealt with Bryan, but I know folks that do. Check with Tailhappy ...spelling? Nobody will have a spotless record. You may have to decide for yourself where the truth lies.

my opinion although i am not a rotary guru is that his advice is pretty sound. i have heard a lot of good things with only a few bad, and generally the bad come down to money(mechanics work ain't cheap), and some have been legitimate. your guy may have had a bad experience, or known some people who did. every business has its naysayers(especially if it is someone else in business doing the same thing). you have to weigh how many good experiences vs. bad ones to get a feel for the overall quality of the business. i am running a rotorsports engine, so is Bert, and a few others around. it is hard to call BS without cracking open the engine. i dont know who your expert is, but unless he has been building engines for a long time. i wouldn't put my money on his advice as being the end all.
i met Bryan and Rusty for the first time this weekend, and have a good opinion of them. Bryan even PMed me to check up with the problem I had, and offered advice. I didn't contact them, he contacted me. With as busy as I know they are, that gave me a warm fuzzy.
they are 100% OK in my book.

I agreed with AntiVenom7's comment about Rotorsport. They have far more positive feedbacks then anyone around NC area. Do your search on this forum and you'll find what we meant.
