I saw one in the autotrader last night. Had a rebuild with streetport, only had like 200 miles on the engine. It said it was done by clean and fast.

The thermostat thing is weird... I have an aftermarket 180 degree thermostat I got from autozone with a 1/8" hole drilled into it. When I installed it the whole car ran much cooler on the stock temperature gauge. Before it would get a little higher than halfway up when it was warm outside. Now it's maybe a quarter of the way up when it's warm out, which is about where the car ran in cold weather with the old thermostat. I believe the old one was OEM but had no hole in it.

I dont think it was just the thermostat, i think it was the combination or that and the stock cooling fan. My E-fan didn't seem to pull much air at all.

I think the difference in flow rates between the stock fan and the e-fan must be most noticeable with the FMIC. On your old T2 you may not have noticed so much of a difference with the top mount and all.

Hey Y'all, I am back from Tennessee and it is good to be back in NC. I really hated missing the drive-in Saturday but thought about what was going on in Raleigh. How was the turn out and what happened? Saw Josh's post about blowing away the Camaro, I hope he gave you his license plate for your garage wall.

The trip to Tenn wasn't a total waste of time I found a red FB in very good shape at a used car lot in Clarksville. The exterior was in good shape and the black interior was in pretty good shape as well, it had a total of 112,000+ miles on the speedometer. I didn't get a chance to drive it or look under the hood though to see what it was really like. It looked like an early model FB with an analog clock in the dash and they were asking $2795 for the car. I thought that was a high for a 20 year old car.

I can't tell you how hard it was to stay on I-40 past Asheville instead of turning south on 74 to go down to Fontana Village.

Steve glad to hear that the OEM thermostat seems to have fixed the hot running problem for you, I'm also really surprised that it couls make that much difference.

hey barry i dont think i ever got to ask you. why a northstar and not an lt1 or ls1. is it a matter of weight? i know an ls1 with the aluminum block and heads(which is all of em) only adds something negligible, like 70-80lbs to the front end over a stock FD, I would think the numbers are similar for an FC.

bert, i think i would have made the detour and run the gap. hell i might have skipped the reunion all together and

steve, i think the whole FMIC is highly overrated. driving my car hard-ish on the back roads yields 225+ probably higher, but i slowed down. I am gonna hook my fans to run fulltime, and maybe drill the thermo like ray was talking about (hell for summer I thought about taking it all the way out, but I am gonna try the fans thing first). I am also going to try and get some ducting going, to help route the air. all in all i wish i would have gone with a v-mount setup, but it would have been 2 times the $$$

I think he wants like 14 or 17 for it. I am hoping to find something more along the li nes of 6. I figure if a good NA FC is 3500 then why not spend a little more and get a descent FD.

well a decent FD is gonna be around 12-15K. a crapped out one might go for about 6-7 if you don't mind an auto, or a blown engine. Also, if you plan on modding, everything is going to be at least 1.5 times the price of the equivalent mod for a FC.

Stereo help in Raleigh

I would love to come by to give someone the opportunity to make a little cash installing my stereo on their own time. Ive got a Sony detachable face some sony speakers, and amp and sub. If there will be anyone there to give me some advice or to offer to do the job......it would be great!

Josh, i was running mine with a cored thermostat. It really didn't help that much. Everbody swears by the OEM thermostats, at least for the fc. They say running with out a thermostat isn't a good idea either because the coolant circulates through the engine so quickly that it dosn't have time to soak the heat out of the block, that is the idea or running a cored thermo, it slows the flow a little.

I can give you all the advice you need, but due to things like brittle plastic pieces breaking, I prefer not to touch other people's cars.

Does it have the stock stereo in it now? If so, it's easy enough to go to Circuit City and pick up a wiring harness that will plug into the stock wiring so you don't have to butcher it. Or, you can get it online at www.crutchfield.com. The Crutchfield kits are better, but the CC ones get the job done.

Hey guys.

I've got a pair of Centerline Telstars that I'm looking to sell. They are 15x8 with 5" of backspacing and 5x4.5 (so they'll fit the 5 lug cars). Crash Test Joey has or had a set on his 2nd gen with 275/50's and they rubbed. That's a fairly wide tire though with an 11" section width.

What they look like on an FC: http://www.torquecentral.com/showthread.php?t=23107

Here's one of the wheels. They're both in really good shape and I've got center caps.

I'm looking for $175 for the two wheels if anyone is interested. They'd be good for the strip.

Well josh im picking a northstar engine because its different one, two im picking it because its really the only managable sized engine with DOHC. and i have more experience with cadillac northstars compared to lt1 and Ls1. and what sounds better 32 valves? or 16? i like 32 valves and its a reliable smooth 300hp and 300 ft/lbs with decent gas mileage same as a normal Rx7 17-25mpg (but it actually gets it). and if i am not mistaken a TII engine wieghs about 430lbs fully dressed? and the Northstar is 470 fully dressed yet 413 ready to run (minus AC and Minus PS) im still contemplating about keeping PS i want easy to drive too.

and another thing, no one has ever done a northstar swap into an FC; i want to be the first and maybe only.

They're still pretty good. The wear indicators are 3/32" deep. Something happened to one of them though.

It looks rough, but it's not too bad IMO. I'm not sure what happened to it.

I don't really need any parts though.
