Rotory scene in south GA?
hey all, i will be moving to Kings Bay this summer and wanted to check on the area. Got a couple of questions like places that work on rotory engines (FD3S), where to live, places to eat...etc. Also, I've been searching for forums for import cars in the area and found nothing but drag sites. Please, if you can answer some of these I will be infinitly greatful.
Aloha!

Hi Ninja Monkey! Howzit?
You aren't that far from Jacksonville, FL and the rotary scene there is slowly picking up again. I know Savannah has a strong presence as well. The Gainesville, FL guys are ALWAYS doing something or going somewhere and Atlanta has a well known shop.
Hopefully some other locals can chime in.

Wus up bradda!
That sucks that no one in the southern GA is checking in. You'd thing that a mil base would have some guys that might have the lowdown in the area. Some people that live near there or have lived in JAX say that it's the getto and the closest thing to imports will be the ricer kids that took their moms civics and gave it the autozone or pepboy special hooked up; and the "V8 rednecks" that only know how to drive in a srtaight line of 1/4 mile at a time. That's what I hear...but we'll see when I get there. I'll be looking for JAX rotory activity since Kings Bay is dry.
later bro...

Ninja, we are long way for you, but the rotary scene in Atlanta alway has something going on. You might want to check in with us for special occasions (like Mitty at Road Atlanta end of April). Check out one of the Atlanta groups more active threads https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...75955&page=487 We are always happy to have visitors.
BTW, I was on Kauai last week and checked the forum for rotor heads in Kauai and came up with nothing. I did see an RX-8 while I was there. Is there much rotary activity in Hawaii?

Not many 7's in the area. Still looking for something. I'm not one to "hate" on anyones choice of upgrades for their cars but there are "trads" in the area that make me want to go deathstar on them.

I own an 88 turbo convertible in st. mary's. Sorry I didn't see this post, I'd have definitely chimed in if I did. There's a Marine on base that drives a white 85 GSL-SE, but after that, I haven't seen anything else. I think I saw your car... white FD in crooked river?

No, thats a bubby of mine. Mine will be here this month. It's been "barn" kept for 3 years so I have some wwork to do before I can take her out. I've seen a one FB (think thats you and 2 FD's. Looking to coordinate a gathering or bbq with rotory guys in the area. Would be nice to just hang and talk. Maybe go do caravans to shows and meets...been out of the scene for a while.

Just remembered...
I went to walmart last night and saw a yellow evo, a blue gto, and a white EG hanging around. I guess the walmart parking lot is the spot for the Saint Marys area.

figured as much. they looked the part. It's a shame that there isn't one here. There are a couple of cars here that are pretty cool and some of the owners i've met are the same (mostly military from the base). Would be cool to get together somewhere and hang.

I'm just down in Jax, and I've been starting to hit the shows, a drift event next Saturday, and local 7 meets, when there is one. If you feel like coming down on a Saturday night, the Sonic on Beach/9A usually has a good few (probably more like 5 or 6) 7's and tons of honduhhhh fanbois.

That's good news man. I just figured out my USB->Serial adapter, so now I can actually tune on my new laptop, vs trying to use Megatune (old tuning software that's now outdated) on a computer running windows 98. That old thing was such a pain to work with.
I hope there's going to be a 7 meet in Jacksonville sometime soon.
