You mean Joe Biden, President of the United States?

He's a pretty cool dude.

You gotta be cool to own a 40 year old.

Two door, two seater, rear wheel drive carburetored sports car.

Like us guys do.

I'll send him an invite to 2021 DGRR, he'll probably show up.

Too Sad, sorry for your loss Fred.

But you can always Build Back Better, let's find you a nice FB project.

In the mean time, here's a retweet from Zac, a vision of the next OGTA meeting:

Howdy folks, I bought Fred's burned FB. I am in the process of stripping it down and thought I'd see if anyone needed any parts before I scrap the shell. I am keeping the engine/drivetrain, suspension, fuel system, rear fenders and tail lights. If anyone could use the doors, rear glass pieces, sheet metal bits, or anything random that might be left, give me a buzz.

Bummer for Fred. What is the condition of the dash and are the door mirrors manual? Dash pictures would be appreciated.

Am glad Brett got the car! Not sure about the dash as it may have melted a bit since it’s right up front. Door mirrors were powered, not manual.

Yes, sadly the dash is toast. I think the doors and rear glass pieces are spoken for, but once I get a little more progress pulling parts, I'll post up new pics of the car to show what's left.

Glad it all worked out Fred, I can't tell you how many 'oh wait we can reuse that part on X car' moments my friends and I have had! It will help keep multiple other rotaries on the road.

Thanks for your Service Brett.

I'm sure the hood is pretty crispy but does it still have integrity?

If so and no one else wants it I can give it a good home.

You need a hood? I've acquired three somehow. Transporting it is a bear though. SOMEHOW you can fit a first gen hood into the trunk of a first gen. I did it once but for the life of me I can't replicate that process.

Only you could fit an FB hood inside an FB James!

But 1st gen hoods are getting rare, you should hold onto them, they'll be worth big bucks someday.

I don't need a hood right now, I have the one on the LE and a backup.

I just don't want to see Brett send his unit to the recycle unless that's where it really needs to go.

And I have a friend here in Jefferson who recently picked up an FB project who needs a 1st gen hood.

His is showing rust spots and after some body work he plans a full paint job, probably next month.

(He's changing the ugly aftermarket blue paint back to the original tornado silver, nice move).

So if Brett's hood is salvageable it would have a good home.

I saw that 15 year badge Ray, not sure how I got it early but I'll take it!

The hood is mangled up pretty good, both the latch area and the edge where it touches the header piece between the headlights.

I know how you'd transport a first gen hood- you drive your first gen hood-less and go pick it up :-) I did that more than once with FC's!

Do any of you guys know of any cheap first gens sitting around anywhere local? No engine or drivetrain needed, just a decent, mostly complete body with a dash. I want to build a Frankenstein car with my hoard of FB/FC parts.

Michael, I left LW a recommendation for NE Georgia.

Now that we're a Blue State, living don't get no better than Jefferson GA.

Road Atlanta (15 min), the OGTA meetings (30 min) and Deal's Gap (90 min) are all in my back yard!

Max, we'd love to see those rota wheels, post them up!

And James, if you've got pics of that FB hood sandwich that would be cool to see too.

Brett I just happen to have an FB sitting in my backyard that fits your description:

"No engine or drivetrain needed, just a decent, mostly complete body with a dash"

It's a white 83 GSL, perfect color, perfect year, OGTA discount applies.

The White One II needs a good home, give me a call!

You're not alone Tim, we're all living in a bubble. The smart ones, at least.

But the virus days are numbered, with a coordinated attack the Trump Virus will be gone next summer.

None too soon.

Brett here's some pics of the 1983 White One II.

It's a rust free shell, no dents, no accidents, no filler.

And I have everything needed to make it whole again if needed.

My plan was to use it for parts, since the LE and this one are both 1983 models.

But I've already got plenty of spare parts.

I've taken out the interior and taillights to to store them indoors.

But I still everything needed to do a complete interior, including seats, door panels and a decent dash.

Come on over and take a look!

Stuff

Hey guys long time no read. The company I have worked for here for 5 years just suddenly let me go. So the Mrs and me are going to have to vacate the premises and possibly go back to Ohio. Nothin is certain since this just happened Thursday night. I’m cleaning out the garage and there are some FB items I’d like to sell from my Rx7. Now before somebody tells me put it in the sales portion of the club I’m willing to allow you guys first dibs. I have brand new OEM still in the bag door rubber surrounds and other door seal parts. All in brand new condition. All Mazda. There’s also an official Shop Manual for 1984 in very good condition. I have one used of one of those igniters on the distributor. There’s a used fully intact heater core unit for 84-85 SE. very good condition. Any fair offer will do. PM me .. thanks

Sorry to hear that, Paul. Is there anything we can do?

You need to look around Atlanta so you can be in the OGTA capital of the world!

I have a meeting with an old customer of mine back home in Akron Ohio. Thank you gents for the good words. I looked at this door rubbers. I think ther is glass runners and glass seals too. Again Mazda OEM. Mazda tags are still on the bags so I could probably read serial numbers if one likes.
