Paul, that Miata exhaust looks good, and I'm sure you will enjoy the extra sound. If you do decide to sell your 7, please post it here and give the rotary community a chance before posting on craigslist. That car deserves to go to a good home.

The two black Mazda’s look so good together in my garage that I’m probably going to keep them that way, together. They’re like the “Loving couple” “steak and lobster” “surf and turf”!!! I even jumped on the Miata club with the name “black5black7”... can’t break that up.. I like it too much! But I gotta tell ya boys... as Boingers go this NC1 is worth having in your garage. Best “feel” in driving I’ve ever experienced. The few extra ponies I get from the header/exhaust and tune will make it bigger fun too! My new wife was pushing towards letting my 7 go.... naw! Passing thought!!
Maybe let the wife drive the boinger and you get back in that sweet SE?
funny thing, I bought it for her then her left foot needed a serious operation. She’s been off work for 10 weeks. She won’t be driving it for quite some time. So now I’m driving it! She had a 97 five years ago and I loved driving it. This one however is exceptional to drive. I don’t know why these cars get the “chick wheels” moniker because honestly it’s a true sports car in all respects. Handles way better than any Rx7 I’ve ever driven. You can drive this off the road and onto the track and have a really good time on street tires and brakes. I love it. What’s nice is that It keeps me from putting too many miles on the 7 while still getting my sports car driving “fix”. Now all I need is a Black T2 to add to the collect!! Ain’t life great?!? I hit the jackpot... three sweet babes AND Cindy’s a sports nut and watches Formula 1 every week!!!!! I’m Blessed!!
Damn Ray, that's just what I'm looking for. Sucks I'm in a bit of a financial flux at the moment. Who knows if its still up in a few months I might spring on it.
And the more I think about a 12A coffee table the more I'm going to do it.
Do it like expanded with threaded rod holding the irons together so the rotors are exposed inside of the housings. And cut up a few e shafts and weld them together so they will go through the whole table. Man, this thing is going to weigh a ton; more than the 302 table does.
Sounds like a cool table and good use of a 12A, but only if the rotor housings are toast.
You should get that Boxter James, they don't come along very often and that one looks like a sleeper.
At least ask him for the video of it running.
Shoot I'm even thinking about it.
Once the immobilizer is toast its not a cheap fix. For me it would be good, because I'm dropping a chevy engine in it so I don't care about metzler.
I'll take some good pics with my wife's new phone tomorrow of the housings and let you decide. I'm pretty sure this engine would get more use out of being a coffee table.
Good job! Pay the 5 letter some attention or it will bite you later. Just sayin'.
Thank you Tim! She’s patiently waiting. Just did oil/filter few weeks ago. She got all new clutch stuff too just recently. Slave, braided, master cylinder. Soon to be doing motor mounts, transmission and idler arm. I also have to replace the O rings in oil filter pedestal... I haven’t driven it nearly as much with advent of this Mx5. Which is good... and bad. Nice problem to have though!!
Ray, I don't think these housings are any good. I've heard that 12A housings are better at being less than perfect but these are missing pieces of not only the chrome, but the metal supporting the chrome as well.
The irons look ok.
The rotors are trash.
The e-shaft is defiantly the best specimen of the engine.
All and all I think coffee table is where its at with this block.
