Has anyone ever had to repair or clean out an ignition switch on a first gen Rx-7? Mine only works intermittently. I think the contacts inside the switch are dirty, but I'm afraid to take it apart. I was able to slide it out of the cylinder where the lock and key are. it's a round plastic part with a panel at one end where several wires area attached. Can I simply spray some electrical parts cleaner through it or do I have to take it apart. Don't want to do that.
For anyone interested in the Apollo missions, the story below has some interesting info and stories including quotes from my Uncle, Lance Drane who worked on the projects.
I guess I'm probably the only OGTA alive who watched the Moon Landing live on TV and remembers it vividly.
Ray you were not alone, I watched that landing as well. In fact I remember in grade school we used to have TVs wheeled in so we could watch many of the saturn shots over the years leading up to the moon shot. It was almost as cool as doing tornado and nuclear drills.
Thats a pretty nice dizzy for $220.00. Let us know how it works. I may buy one just for the new engine (oops its a secret, don't tell Tina).
It just didn't fit with my reading of the Constitution, which accorded higher principles to American citizens.
Ahhhh yes.. American citizens... not Guatemalan, Mexican, Hondurans, cubans... etc etc..
i too watched Neil Armstrong live while vacationing in LA in 69. I stayed with my cousin whose husband was a big wig at TRW. He was instrumental in design of the Lunar lander. His name was Jack Lear. During that whole mission week we watched nonstop. He explained everything happening in detail so I could understand. It was an experience I’ll never forget. I’ve caught every episode so far of the smithsonian channel moon missions.
Now that I have this NC MX-5 I have to use my floor jacks stands differently. The lift points on a MX-5 is on the steel lip seam that we normally avoid since it’s usually too thin to support the lift. I didn’t want to scratch up the paint so I grabbed a couple pieces of Delrin and turned them on the lathe and milled them on vertical mill to create a new drop on support atop the standard jack stand. Worked great. Just I’d share...
Nikkis can be fun, but I am open to something aftermarket as well if I can find something cheap enough.
Still have the Lotus. Don't get to drive either enough anymore though. The little ones take up most of my spare time, and neither car fits car seats well.
I try to take the 5letter out once a week to keep her vital. I don’t drive her as much now that I’m DDing my MX-5. Beautiful sunset the other night so I pulled out cell and snapped one as I was driving. Looked at pic later..Holy Zero oil pressure Batman!! Wired direct to ground.. phew!! Gauge is ok! Ordered new one from Atkins.. all is good...
