Hi Dre. Actually, it was Collin that went up to Vermont. Colin is still with us.
Maybe we can see you in the fall at BRRR.

Well if it isn't Andre! Your timing sucks. -shrug- Your loss...

I met up with two of the four (including myself) rotorheads known to be in the state of Vermont.. but we may have a fifth! A guy PM'd me and told me he just bought an FB... let's see how long he lasts lol

Patched my gas tank tonight. I drove it over to this guy Jason's house because he has air tools, and we dropped the tank out. After grinding away the undercoating with a wire wheel to get it down to bare metal in the suspicious area, we found that I did not have a perforated tank.... but rather a small area of metal that had rusted away enough to make the metal uber thin, allowing gas to soak through it across that entire weak point. You can sorta call it a hole..

I used a bit of 'gas tank' epoxy and a fiberglass mat over it... but the epoxy, which isn't supposed to harden for 5 minutes, hardened in about a minute and a half at most... so I ended up riding back to the parts store and could only obtain one of those epoxy sticks that you knead together in your fingers until uniform, and proceeded to pack that over the half-done patch. It appears to be holding gas just find now, but for how long is another story. I'm still trying to locate a replacement tank... the local Mazda dealer literally laughed at my face when I inquired about a part for an RX-7. Needless to say, I won't be buying ANYTHING from them if I can avoid it.

I love my new garage space... so very, very much. My immediate neighbor who has about six inches of drywall etc between our garages is a BMW fanatic and has a sweet setup in his garage, so that's pretty cool too.

The weather is freakin' amazing right now... What is considered a 'hot day' up here is totally comfortable, and I can ride around or be outside with no A/C and not even sweat!

Also, I officially love my new store... and I don't even start until the 16th!

...and I met the nicest, coolest guy... who *ISN'T* crazy!... yet. Some friends of mine introduced us up here... we'll see how that goes... but damn he's got a ROCKIN' body!

Annnnnnnnd yeah... Did I mention I love my garage? It's freakin' huge!

Hey Andre!

Mike I didn't mean to hurt your feelings!

Looks like I'm back to getting my 23/24 mpg on the daily commute, all that Nikki work is paying off. Lot's of fun to drive too.

Collin, make sure your heater is working.

You'll wish you had a beater FWD drive for the winter up there.

Did you keep your FWD or sell it before moving?

Anyway, at least you can get some sking in up there.

Collin, you might want to take Tim's suggestion for a FWD beater to heart. The salt and stuff they put on the roads up there could do a lot of damage to Wanda.

Today in history – Felix Wankel, the inventor of the Wankel rotary engine, was born.

Felix Wankel was born in Lahr, Germany in 1902. He never went to college, never got a degree in engineering, and was never even able to become an engineers apprentice. He taught himself engineering and was able to put together the first prototype Wankel rotary engine in the mid 1950s.

Happy birthday!!!!!!

Alright, so.. let me just.. run something by you guys...

Today I was re-sealing my fuel pump to the tank (Because someone decided drywall screws would be a good substitute to hold the thing on), and my neighbor was having his car worked on by his friend... who is a mechanic at a German car service station.

We get to talking (And honestly I only approached him because he is out of this world sexy), and he wants to take a look at my car. So we go into my garage, pop the hood, and we start talking about Wanda and all that.. For one, he didn't really know what he was talking about. Actually, he knew nothing about rotaries and even less about RX-7s. He started like... pushing and tugging on random things in my engine bay. The first thing he went for was the Airflow Meter harness... then he started pushing and prodding on my freakin' oil metering lines (To which I calmly cleared my throat) and he stopped doing that... then he goes over to the other side of the engine and PULLS on both my oil level sensor and oil pressure sending unit wires, both of which SNAPPED under the strain right at the harness exit...

I like...could not believe what the hell he was ******* doing, as if it were no big deal!

So he disconnects the now broken wiring harnesses and hands them to me... doesn't even say sorry.. He just said "Well that's not good... they were close to probably shorting something out."

I just raised my brow at him, said nothing...

I think he sensed my impending outburst, because he quickly ducked back under the hood and was staring at my brake distribution block... To which he asks me why it's located here instead of under the car towards the back. I told him, "Well, that's what Mazda decided to do with it. It's where it should be, according to them."
He returns with something along the lines of how I should just remove it, that it's only a bias valve for the rear brakes... and if I take it out, how I'll gain pedal feel and better braking.

Wrong. He was so wrong. Almost arrogantly, I explained that with the size of my brakes, and the setup that I run, leaning into the brakes is similar to dropping a boat anchor out the window, and that I wasn't too concerned with further overwhelming my tires' contact patch.

At this point, I think he started to feel bad... Then again, earlier when we were talking about LS1 swaps and how Craig kept trying to get me to do it (This is when he realized I was gay and got a somewhat shocked look on his face), I think he'd felt bad about his surprised facial expressions.

The ************ takes his ******* shirt off... slowly...

I **** you not... this assumed straight man who is ******* hot as ****... takes his motherfucking shirt off in an obvious, sexy way... He hangs the shirt off his back pocket, and proceeds to ask me about my exhaust system for the next few minutes before he went back over to his friends house - shirtless - to continue working on it.

And you would not believe the ******* *** on this dude either... I swear to God, he was TEASING me...

Am I the only one who finds it rude that someone who doesn't know you starts pulling on fragile looking **** underneath the hood of someone else' rare *** car, and breaks something...and doesn't even apologize?

UGH!

15 minutes of my life I cannot get back, cutting open my wiring harness and splicing **** back together... at least the half-*** strip tease was worth it.

Oh yeah, and my other almost immediate neighbor is Vice President of Vermont Sports Car, who builds Ken Block's car... well...used to... Now their hot shoe is Travis Pastrana.

Life is good.

Yes they do.. I may attempt to work my way in to some sort of job there through my neighbor if possible. He seems like a nice old guy.. My garage was open when he came home yesterday morning and he spotted my Hawk sticker on the windshield and wanted to talk to me, etc.

My other new friend... http://www.vems.us/ He lives over in Colchester.

That was a lot of fun today. I'm glad Billy and Donnie joined Kristy and I today. Kristy and I took 1st place in Novice today. We even got the trophies to prove it. Woo Woo!

I hope some more of the OGTA members can make it out next month on Sunday, September 19th. It takes team work, with one person being the driver and the other the navigator.
