Drivers side one? Mine too! lol
So the FC runs! Well, sort of. I got everything hooked up this evening and it starts up fine, but then if you don't hold the RPM's above 2500, it dies out. If it dips below 2000 RPM, it dies 80% of the time. I'm guessing that there might be something unhooked or a vacuum leak, or maybe something else. I'm going to check everything over tomorrow evening after work, and if I can't figure it out, I'm going to get 2 LED's to wire up to see what code's it's throwing.
Since school let out last week, I've been working 9-5, so I haven't got much time to work on it anymore. Next week, my boss will be out of town, so I'll have all week to get the car ready, move my stuff into my new house, and get everything set up.
Speaking of that, I still want to host a meet at my house sometime this summer. It's a little place back in the boonie's since I'm poor, but it's cool and decent.

As for your problem.. thermowax? If you completely eliminated all of your emissions I think you have to adjust it or something.
Also Brett, do you know how to remove the leather seat cushions and whatnot from the front seats of the Maxima? The seats I bought from Alex have rails that don't work.. looks like they were modified/welded to fit the RX-7. I found some write-ups on The Org to remove the power seat rail assembly and it seems to require cutting, drilling etc.. which I don't want to go through all of that bullshit simply to replace the seats. At this point, I only want to swap the driver seat. No, it won't match, but it won't be torn.. and I want to retain my passenger side power seat. Call me.

I'm still around. Just have not been able to get the Forum much these days.
I am still hoping to make an appearance at Mitty. About 50% chance I can make it.
Ray, was that steering wheel in the Wizard of Oz --- oh, no those were ruby slippers. Same color as the sterring wheel. That can't be a Mazda color. Yamamotosan would never have allowed that.
Chris, sorry to hear about the car. If you decide to do another shell swap and you're not in a hurry, we might be able to work something out on the Gray Ghost.
Crit, did Dena approve the move to the Tilted Kilt? You might want to get clearance from her before we make this move. From the looks of the pictures, this decision might be above your pay grade.

Count me in for a meet. Just make sure it's either on a Saturday or you give me like two weeks notice cuz of work.

As for the seats, I'm clueless. I'll give you a hand next week if you help me move some of my ****. I'll cover gas Then you can see my new place, too.
The thermowax? That the junk on the back of the TB that has 2 coolant lines coming off of it and 2 vacuum lines? I've got those coolant lines capped off and that unhooked, but I can get coolant going through it pretty easily. I'll look into that, thanks.
Update on the FC: I went over today and couldn't find any vacuum leaks. I tried running 2 temporary wires to hook up the BAC valve since it's moved to the passenger side of the engine with the S5 intake and the plug doesn't reach anymore. I read on Kevin Landers site that it doesn't need to be hooked up, but having it still on the motor with coolant running through it helps (and mine does have coolant going through it). Anywho, I ran 2 temp. wires to that and while I was starting it, one of those wire's came off and grounded out on the fuel rail, making the car not start at all now. All the fuses are good and it's getting spark, so I either flooded it or I killed something fuel wise. Any idea's?
And what is it that you old folks use to check for vacuum leaks? I keep thinking something like hairspray that's flamable

Gray ghost or not, if everyone wants to keep a lookout for me, this time I'm aiming for a Series 3 (not going back to a series 2 interior, I have fallen in LOVE with S3 dash and gauges, I could go with a S2 and swap my interior over, but I'd rather not) GSL with all the rolling gear(steering, suspension, tranny, and rear end) left in. This way, I should just be an engine swap(with the clutch being changed) and a fuel pump install away from driving, instead of moving EVERYHTING over. Since insurance quoted me $2,100 for repairs, I'll try to get a check for that, spend no more than $600 on the rolling shell and such, then use the left over money to start the build on the 13B Crit has.

Wow Crit that is PERFECT! Only thing about the ad is that I don't know if it's got the GSL rear end, and mine isn't swappable due to being an 83 rear end, but for that price, I might pick it up regardless and just shop around for a Series 3 rear end with disc brakes and an LSD.
Those autotox guys like those 83 GSL rears, lighter than the ones in the 84/85's.

That's weird. Must not be OEM. Did you get your hood open? Should I bring those headlight covers next week or are you about to give up on the body work? I'm looking for an SE, $1,200 is my price range.
GSL-SE YA!!!
iTrader: (13)
Yea i got the hood open, i just need to adjust the latch. Yes i will take the drivers side headlight cover if you bring it to the next meet
Thanks Mike, I'll try that sometime this weekend. I also heard using water works too.
Collin, that's cool. I'm free Saturday, so why not. I'll give you $10 worth, deal? That's more than enough
So the FC was just flooded, thankfully. It still starts crappy and I think it's got hot starting issues. I need another coolant cap with the vent for the overflow bottle since the nipple broke off of mine. I think I'm going to run coolant through the thermowax valve junk in addition to the BAC valve. And I'm going to search around for another S5 UIM since mine's got a crack on the edge of a mount I overlooked and I believe it might be cracked into the piping, causing a vacuum leak.
Here's a video if anyone has any suggestions. When it first starts, my foot is steady on the throttle and the car is doing all of that on it's own, including the 1000 RPM jump about 5 seconds in. And I know the e-fan isn't running, I've got the wires and relay, but it's just another thing on the list right now. It's just temporarily wired in now.
You've got to click this since I forgot how to code for a video...
Hopefully I'll have it at the meet Tuesday. I've got tomorrow off as well as next week, and the only things I have to do are to move my junk to my new place, mow a few lawns, and clean stuff. We'll just see how things go.
