Ray, the two lane road refers to 1 lane in each direction. They also refer to it as 'rural roads' a lot.
The thing that irks me about it is people are saying "they never claimed it was for safety. It's always just been about revenue generation." Nope, right below, first line: (And I wonder how much of that will be taken in "administrative costs"). Not a fan of the law, not (just) because I like to speed, but because I think the execution is wrong. I think it should be a XX over.
The Super Speeder legislation will increase fines to decrease trauma-causing behavior. Driving over 85 mph or more anywhere in Georgia and 75 mph or more on a two lane road will be classified as a "super speeding" offense, adding an additional fine of $200, which will be administered by the Georgia Department of Driver Services
Preliminary estimates show the Super Speeder legislation could generate as much as $25 million to $30 million per year. The additional fees, after administrative costs, will go to the state's general treasury with the intent that the money will be used to fund a trauma care system.

I just made the observation to an acquaintance the other day that the speed limits on the freeways used to be 75 mph or higher in many areas into the early '70's. We all know what awful brakes, pudgy chassis, and skinny bias-ply tires typified cars of that era, and cars and freeway construction have both improved to the point where a rational person might think that speed limits could reasonably be 40% higher or more, especially if we consider the advent of passive restraint systems (airbags) as a standard feature on cars. People claim the freeways can't handle the "volume" of traffic, but common sense tells us if the average speed doubles, that the same number of lanes can handle twice as many cars....so going faster is actually the answer to our traffic problems -- or it would be, if we had a meaningful skills requirement in our driver licensing programs, right?

Kevin (Ace) I told you before you left Georgia, you would be back soon.
Ray, put me down for $5 donation too. That is a wonderful gesture on your part to get the 12A count up on a cold cold Georgia January night. And, since I don't think I will be able to find a 1st gen to roll in tomorrow night, I am willing to give up my calendar spot for the out of towners: like Romulo and Michael, if he makes the meeting.

Jeez Holly, I totally missed your previous post, sorry! Must be the Alzheimer's setting in.
Kevin, is that Three Mile Island? That place is still leaking, you know. Good news is that it warms the neighborhood up a few degrees, could be worse over in the next county.
Roland has an excellent idea, let's make an official OGTA calendar!!!
He's looking into shipping costs, I'm trying to figure out how these so called "free" calendar programs work. Anybody got any specific info on this? We could use the donation money to fund this project instead of buying more of the current 1st gen calendars, which are nice but don't have official OGTA content. We should be able to have them ready for the February meeting. Best of all, we can use official OGTA photos for all 13 months, including Old School's and even (gasp) FC's, FD's and RX-8's!!
I have a great one of Crit I want to use.
See ya'll this evening, dress warm!

Hey, are we still pushing the earlier start time like last month, on account of the sun and cold?
Anybody bringing a good camera? I've got a special need for one this week.

I was about to ask the exact same question Crit. I'm all for an early start, especially since I'm not positive Nightmare will fire. Gotta go see if I can get her goin before I head out.

Yeah. I want Jeremy to bring his Blad. $18,00 in photo equipment. (Jeremy the Rx-2 and FD driver) got a Hasselblad 39 Megapixel medium format camera, or his facebook said so).
NOT a video camera, just the best of the best digital still picture cameras. Like $12,000 without lenses,

I'll be taking pictures but once the sun goes down I'll be counting on my artistic talents alone, since my camera takes better pictures without the flash than when it works. So yeah a 6:00 pm start would be great and after the sun goes down Chris can bring out the heavy artillery.
Quad if you can get Nightmare over to Jefferies chances are real good she will get you home, since we can do repairs in the parking lot.
Michael hold on to the cash for now, we got a super deal brewing on an Official 2010 OGTA Calendar. Earlier today I figured out how I can use my Corel Draw program to make professional quality calendar pages, so we should be able to produce them for the cost of paper and ink. Now we just need to decide on which pics to use.
