I'm stuck. I tried to wire the fuel pump to the fuse block, and for some reason I can only get a constant 12V without the fuse in place. And also, if I take that fuse out, I can get 12V down the new 12 gauge wires I'm running, but it won't power the fuel pump. I haven't put the switch in yet, for I'd like to get it running, then just cut it and switch it. I did wire the fuel pump directly to my little 12V battery charger, and I got the pump to run just fine. So it's not the pump. Somehow, when I'm connecting it to the fuse block, I'm getting power all the way down the wire (I checked with a voltmeter), but when I connect it to the fuel pump, it won't run...

Any ideas? Anyone wanna come over and help?

If anyone wants to do me a favor and call this guy and just be ridiculously annoying about buying his car, I'd appreciate it . It's a coworker trying to sell his Grand Am. Motor is blown (pretty sure the timing chain slipped badly, I was with him at the time. It happened while starting, if you just want a project car). Ridiculous trade offers, etc, even better.

Wish I could get by there and help you with that bugger Kevin but it seems our schedules are not very good for that. Hope you got it hooked up!

Tim you know we don't do boingers here!

Anybody know anything about this SE in Duluth?

I got it mostly hooked up, I got it wired up through the body, just gotta get it through the firewall into the engine bay.

And that's not Duluth, that's Dacula, my old stompin grounds. I didn't know anyone out there had one. Interesting.

Quad: Are you trying to run both pump wires to the fuse box (one on each side of the fuse)? That would show the problems you are having. For the pump, only one is power (should be a (+) on the pump terminal). The other needs to go to a clean/solid ground.

For the power source, I would go with a switched 12v source. Then you could add an inline switxh somewhere (possibly hidden) to prevent theft or help if you flood the engine. For a switched 12v source, there are several possibilities at the fuse box in the car or you can tie into the main relay in the engine bay. If you use a constant source, you may forget to flip the switch and run your battery down as the pump will continue to run. For this power wire you are putting in, I would add an inline fuse. They should tell you what the fuse rating should be in the instructions for the pump.

If you need help figuring anything out, just let me know.

What I'm doing is using the old clip and wires that are under the storage box to the pump. Then the new wires are both running to the main relay under the hood. I'll have the positive on the relay, and I'm just gonna bolt the negative onto the strut tower. I also have a toggle switch I'll be installing. It won't be anything permanent, seeing as this motor is coming off the SE and going into the GSL soon anyways, none of this will matter here shortly...

All these ideas courtesy of Ben.

Any input?

That should work okay. You will want to tap into a black wire with a white stripe. If you are running all the way to the engine bay, you can just go directly to the battery if you want a constant source. The main relay will give you a switched source so the pump will be off whenever the key is off.

Yea, I used the black with a white stripe as my positive, and the other as negative. Both are going to the engine bay now, positive to the relay, negative to the strut tower bolts.

Ray, you are missing the point. You are supposed to call him and offer him some goats for his car. Just mess with him because he stupidly bought a boinger and is now paying the price with bent valves.

One of my goats for a boinger??? Are you crazy? For a Grand Am? A Grand Am isn't even worth a goat berry.

He should'a clunkered it when he had the chance.

Kevin I'll be passing through Suwanee tomorrow around 1-2 p.m., if you're around then I'd love to come have a look at your car collection.

If he's lucky he might be able to find one of these:

That's a recent photo of my Canadian buddy Damien's highly modified FB. I'm trying to talk him into bringing it down for an OGTA meeting.

Thanks for the info. When I took down the mirror/ light I kept thinking it must use 2 grounds, but I'd never thought of something like that. I guess there's a bad solder joint somewhere on the ground for the ON part of the switch somewhere. I'll add that to the list

So driving the FC yesterday was nice. I took the headunit out for the Maxima about a week ago, so the only music I got to hear was the exhaust (which wasn't too bad, I enjoyed it!). For the first 5 mins or so of driving it I couldn't stop smiling since I haven't driven it in around 3 weeks. I'm gonna flip once it's had everything done to it this winter and I get to drive it like that .

Maybe we should have special OGTA meet in January. If NGASS is open on Saturdays it could be a good place for the OGTAs to meet up.

This is an all time low, even for us. Now we're talking about servicing goats... That is just plain wrong.
