Well I got paid Thursday, that paycheck will be completely eaten by the towing company that has had my car for 3 days. My next paycheck id gonig to probably be taken largely by the Court fees for the ticket I got for follwoing to cloose, that's two weeks from now me still being financially at zero. One month from now I'll robably be up $300 and 6 weeks from this point I'll have $600. So in 1 1/2 months or 6 weeks, I should be able to purchase Ray's car and set things into motion for the swap.

Also Rolland, you're right about that shell probably needing more work than what's worth it. I don't see the idea as good as what I've got planned out so far.

I thought it was in better shape. It has been some time since I saw it. You cannot go wrong with Ray's white car. It is clean!

That has to please the rotor gods for sure!

Rolland, I appreciate it regardless. Ray's white one is just calling me, and I've seen what the car has been up to for the past year or so.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what's stopping the car from being driven besides the radiator? Did the wreck mess up the front suspension/ steering or something?

I'm all ghetto- I'd drive it 5 mins till the temp went up, turn it off, sit for a while, rinse and repeat At least that's what I did in the FC when the rad cracked.

Kidding, I just looked the underhood pic. Sorry.

She is down for the count Brett...

Billy and Roland helped me out a bunch today. Like Billy said, he got Sexypants home, and everything went pretty smoothly once we got the brilliant idea to push the car downhill rather than up into the trailer. Sorry about your Yard Billy, I can buy you some roll-out sod patches if you need me to.

Also, we may get this thing rolling sooner than I thought, Ray is cool with us starting the swap whenever, and let me pay as I go, so I can drive Sexypants II home the day I have the money, rather than start the swap once I have the money.

Here is all that is planned for the swap, anyone who wants to lend a hand, can get in on the build. Ray and I agreed the best idea is to try and allow Ray to keep as many of the parts as he can, because he would like to still have spares. So we need to:

-Remove Ray's Engine, Transmission, Driveshaft, rear axle, suspension at all 4 corners, hubs on all 4 corners, and I think that's about it for Ray's car.

-Install my (all of the above) into the shell.

-Then it's a matter of connecting all electronics, testing things out, get the interior as complete as possible etc. Safety stuff first, like windshield wipers, headlights, tail lights, indicators etc are primary, the rest can be done after the car is drivable. I can do the final little annoying jobs like installing the radio and such later.

Ray said he has a good radiator, so as far as I know, nothing else is needed. I might try and replace a few things while the car is apart, maybe tie rod ends, a few bushings, and motor mounts, but I don't want to push my luck financially.

We can make a little OGTA project meet out of this in 2 weeks or so (I can ask for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), but it all depends on Ray's schedule, and I don't want to step on anybody's toes with this, you are all so kind to help, whatever works best for you I will adapt to.

Thank you SO much to everyone who has got themselves involved, or is planning on it. I seriously owe you all one, and any time I can lend a hand with something, let me know. Photograph,y parts, labor, whatever. I really appreciate it all very much.

Hey Roland, any news about the motor?

Also, the SE is home if anyone wants to come out and have a gander. The battery is dead, but other than that, supposedly she runs with the AFM unplugged. I'll try stealing the battery out of the 12A to see if I get get the SE to crank over, and see whats up.

And Crit, I remember you telling me that with the REPU, you had one key that had two different uses depending on which side was facing up. Would that work with my GSL and SE?

Quad, I have been really busy and not been able to look at the engine yet. Give me a couple of days. Dad's phone does not work well in Puerto Rico. As soon as I can speak with him - I can find out where the storage key is. The engine may or may not be good not sure. It has been sitting awhile so I am not sure about its condition. Another option is a rebuild! How much do you want for the SE?

I'm debating on selling the SE. Once I get a motor for the GSL, I'll figure out about selling the SE. I might keep the SE, carb the 13B in it, and sell the GSL. Whichever car I can get running easiest, and cheapest, I'll keep and sell the other.

Also, does anyone know of the difficulty of replacing a wiring harness in an SE? I'm thinking a new harness might fix the AFM issue, but I'm not too sure... If it's not TOO overly difficult, I'd like to try it. I might even just straight wire the AFM to the ECU somehow.

Hmm...How could I do that? I think I need to do some reading of Crit's FSM. (I promise I'll give you all your stuff back ASAP Crit. Once I have a running RX-7 for more than 5 days....)

Just got a phone call from Puerto Rico. The engine that he has is a core - It has no compression. The running engine was already sold. If you need a rebuild let me know and I will get you a price.

I'd be cheaper to find a motor that's running than to rebuild. I can't even afford the seals at this point. I'm short on cash after buying TWO cars...

Chris, I'm not sure you want to bite off all that work. Remember that an axle swap includes 4 links, watts, brakes, ebrake, and putting it all back together. Do you really want to remove this stuff twice and install it once? You could just strip the S2 rear end from your shell and sell it as-is. Remember that Ray's shell is an S3 big-bearing car, which is worth keeping. Your small-bearing LSD is also a hot commodity to the old-school small-bearing crowd.

Ray's car was a runner when it quit, as was your car. I'd expect they'd be in similar condition regarding brakes shocks/struts, etc., so there's not much to gain by swapping. I'd recommend taking your 13B crossmember, engine, intake and exhaust and just moving that to Ray's car. You could pick and choose what else you move, including the radiator, but it would be a LOT less work, no real difference in the final result, plus you'd have a valuable LSD you could trade back to Ray or sell on eBay.

I can supply my engine hoist, tall jack stands (important for long jobs, I've found) electric impact and sockets for you guys to borrow until you're done. I'm not available next Saturday, but my weekends are otherwise pretty open.

The only down fall to finding a used engine is you do not know the condition - unless you hear it run before you buy it or have a compression reading! An engine with alot of miles that you may buy is not going to last the way you drive - according to the guy that saw and heard you pegging the tach! A rotary can only handle so much without a rev limiter! If you buy a used engine and I were in your shoes I would drive it like a granny. If you go the used engine route DO NOT drive it like you stole it and it should last!
