Mike, are you going to be at OGTA this month? I am bringing Greg's Nikki and I can bring your wheels/tires if you'll be there or at least stop by to pick them up.

I wish you had said this earlier. I was at Pull-A-parts today and I took the driver's side spindle off of the 1 Rx-7 they had. I left both of those things lying on the ground there. The passenger side is still there though, dust cover on and all. It's the "Atlanta East" pull a part in Lithonia, a white 1980 Rx-7 on row 105.

It is a top mount that connect the front of the motor to the passneger side wheel well (wrong wheel drive). The Haynes manual says to loosen the motor mount bolt through the rubber bushing first, then the bolts that actual attach the mount to the motor. But it seems to me if I loosened the bolts attached to the motor first I could get the weight of the motor off the motor mount. The motor is supported by a jack. This might make it easier to break loose the bolt going through the rubber bushing. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Mike, do you still need an impact? I've got either an electric or pneumatic I can loan you. Sorry for the late reply - I was gone all weekend.

Chris, I am NOT going to make it to OGTA this week. I have my son's 626 a part doing the water pump and timing belt. Even with good progress tonight, I am going to need to work on it tomorrow night. We'll have to work out an other date to get the wheels/tires back.

Crit, no problem. I knew you were out of town and besides I was getting all that good advise from Ray.

I got the motor mount off. It involved a few more tools (vise grip, cheater bar, 18"x 1/2" breaker bar, 17mm 1/2" drive 6pt socket, and a buddy), but that SOB is off. I hope to have the water pump, tensioner, timing belt off tonight.

Little Help 2nd Gen Guys

My buddy who has been helping me with my son's car has a vert (its actually his son's). The window don't work and the AC compressor is shot. Needless to say, it is unbearable to ride in with the top up.

I am going to bring him by OGTA tomorrow night. Can one of you 2nd Gen guys help him with the windows. It seems to be the motor, but I have not looked at it. From what I understand this is a common problem.

Also, anyone have an AC compressor for a 2nd Gen they would be interested in selling?

I'll be there tomorrow only long enough to get him hooked up. I am 1 bolt away from getting the water pump out and putting the 626 back together.

I heard someone talking about a guy with a vert that they were trying to talk to, but the guy was like 'my windows wont go down!' and he couldn't talk to him. The same guy maybe?

I've played with a few windows and have gotten to know the system by switching out multiple regulators and fixing switches. I could give him a hand tomorrow night and probably switch out switches just to see if that's where the problem is.

Guess what I could maybe have finished by tomorrow night's OGTA??

Mike I'll try and help, it sounds like a regulator or motor, no big deal.

The photo is meant to inspire Mike while he works long hours on his son's 626, it will create subliminal messages that will assist with those stuck bolts. (you guys did notice that red car is a 626, right? It's the first link that popped up when I googled "Mazda 626")

http://images.google.com/images?q=ma...title&resnum=1

Power window problems generally are maintenance related, if you've ruled out the obvious like burnt fuses, switches or motors. I've had to take the door panels off all my GSLs, clean things up, do some realignment of the window guides and lubricate. Kind of a PIA but it always does the trick.

With Zoomfest coming up and a long list of things needing attention at home I won't be able to make the July OGTA this evening, darn. Somebody take some good pictures and post them up please!

Which one for the a/c compressor.? The S4 cars used 2 different styles/part#'s. They do not interchange. The S5 is also different from the 2 different s$ models. Not Mazda's most efficient use of parts I have one here from a S4 T2. Let me know what part/model he has and I can check mine and bring it to ZF if it is what he needs.

Chris, as it turns out I am going to be there for 15 minutes or so to get my buddy hooked up with some help. If you want to bring the wheels/tires great. If not next time. I should be there around 7.

Some new guy.

With all this rain around, maybe I will make it. Granted, we play south of the city, so it may be ok. But I'd probably be in a boinger, since the 1st gen still doesn't have wipers (if it's still raining).
